Gen1 - General Someone hit my Cruze less than two weeks after I bought it 😭
I was dashing and someone hit my car in the parking lot of Best Buy. Thankfully no major damage, just the dent shown in the picture.

If anyone saw my previous post about replacing my coolant outlet I wanted to make a post just for this guy. If you didn't see that post you can find it here. https://www.reddit.com/r/cruze/s/6raC3U4951
I haven't been in this group long, few days but was watching and exploring for a few weeks. Recently he was getting flack for promoting his coolant tee than he makes himself. A few people don't like that he's doing so, they say he needs to "follow the rules for sellers". The guy isn't AutoZone, nor is he some company manufacturing and producing a bunch of aftermarket, replacement and performance parts. It's not a business that he relies on to pay his bills and it's probably more trouble than it's worth for him. Even if it takes 2 hours of his time, it's not worth $30. You couldn't buy 2 hours of my time for $30, I'll tell you that. He is an older retired engineer who literally makes these to help people. Why doesn't anyone else make them? Cause it's still leaves a part to fail that you'll still have to spend money on. Companies don't want to sell parts that last forever.
He comments on just about any post where someone is discussing purchasing a new to them Cruze or is having cooling system related issues. Because of the flack he wants to stop making and offering these pieces, that's the opposite of running a business for profit! He's not spamming the same post over and over. So either remember what your mom taught you and if she didn't teach you I'll remind you. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all.
His part is a great quality part that should've came from the factory. Actually from the factory it's should've just been a nipple there to begin with and not even a "serviceable" aka "breakable" part. But its not so here he is. I sent him $50 for it and told him to enjoy a drink on me. No, that's not expected but support the guy, don't bash him, what good is that?
So thanks Time_Many6155, thanks for making something because it helps people! And don't listen to the nay-sayers or the haters. Keep up the good work!

The purpose of this post is to keep an update of list of issues and parts available for modification. You can PM me if you want to add anything to the list. Be clear if it is an issue or modification with its category.
If you have any questions that were not answered in this post, please make a new post instead so it is visible.
Note: Some of these links may be linked to a region, like Canada or USA. You may be able to look up the part number and find it locally or in your region.
If you want more details on the LE2 1.4L, Trifecta has done a tear-down on the engine and compared it with the Gen 1 LUJ/LUV 1.4L. TLDR; more powerful, better potential mpg, turbo turns 60krpm slower than Gen 1's turbo so it's less stressed.
https://www.trifectaperformance.com/index.html/trifecta-meet-the-gm-le2-engine-r61/
Although the 1.4L can use Regular and Mid Grade fuel, it generates the most power and has the best fuel economy with Premium Fuel; 91/93 Octane. You may also experience rough engine idling with lower octanes.
The initial production of Gen 2 Cruze (2017) may have defective pistons and they may be prone to cracking. Check to see if your car has any recalls and have it resolved as soon as possible if your car is affected by the recall. Later production years (2018+) do not have issues with pistons cracking.
Manual models have a tendency for the slave cylinder to prematurely fail. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Sedan models had issues with trunk seal not blocking/diverting water and they may be defective. Hatchback models (as mine was affected) have a similar issue where the rear hatch seal will let some water in.
On hatchback models (possibly only RS trim), the rear hatch may not divert water properly which can cause water to enter the cabin. The seal may be replaced as a fix, other times the problem will be with the spoiler itself and it may need replacing.
A P0299 code may show up in cold temperatures (0°C / 32°F) and the engine will go into limp mode. The problem may be attributed to the charge air cooler freezing which will require it to be drained and cleaned. There is also a recall for this part (2023). Recently been noticing a lot of condensation on these metal lines around the airbox. Even if I have the engine running for 30 mins+ it is still there. Thank you in advance!

Found a 2018 cruze LT with 36,000 miles. Recently I had to put my cobalt to rest so this seemed like a good next step. Any real world experience with this. Seems like 2018 and 2019s were pretty solid vehicles in general. I like the smaller vehicles for daily driving and I have a couple kids starting to drive in the coming years so looking for something easy for them.
Any thoughts.

Recently replaced water pump and this started happening. Other pulleys seem to perfectly still while rotating. Didn’t have a torque wrench so honestly just hand tightened. Anyone know what’s causing this?

So it's a 2012 LTZ with all the fancy additions. I bought it used and overpaid but It's my first car I chose myself so its my bb.
Long story short the large coolant hose to the engine decided to just take a crap while I'm on my way to work driving the highway for 30 mins. I immediately pulled over and it started smoking after I shut it off. Didn't turn it back on till I got it towed home. I could have fixed the hose myself but I couldn't get my hand in there or up there to get the other end of the hose off. All in all. This is the first major repair I've needed since I got the car in '22 and I've not been kind to it. I really love my Cruze. And it like me now because I put the 'good gas' in.

if someone could tell me what this could possibly be i’d appreciate it so much. i can’t find any similar sounds on any of the videos ive searched up and rlly hoping my car isn’t fucked. it’s had the valve cover gasket changed 3-4 times and has been having some noisy belt problems and other quirks. haven’t had money to get it to a mechanic but i cannot drive it like this.

I’m worried it might be causing a p1101 code. Can I fix it without splicing or soldering a new wire harness? 2017 Chevy Cruze

okay this is probably gonna be a very long and wordy post so pls bear with me. so for the past like month or 2 my car has been doing this weird thing where when i get up to like 25mph and the gear shifts (? idk anything about cars sorry) it starts making a rrr rrrr rrr like a reving noise but it sounds like somethings turning or something idk its hard to explain but other than that it just jerked a bit when gears would shift. and it would only do it for a few seconds until the gears shift again.
also, my engine is leaking a little bit of oil and through various reddit posts and searching the internet i concluded that my valve cover gasket needed replacing so i purchased one but havent had the time to get it fixed yet and also when i check my oil the level seems unusually high but i never really paid it any mind.
for the past few days my car has been jerking noticeably more/harder than usual when it automatically shifts gears or when im braking, and then we fast forward to today. i drove to a store about 8 minutes from my house, its jerking and doing all the things its been doing, then, on my way home, i stop at a light and when i press on the gas to drive, it doesnt move, then jerks like ive been rear ended and drives very slowly while the rpms continue to climb, and i ended up having to stop on the side of the road after it happened again when trying to merge onto the highway. once i got home i looked a lot of stuff up and my mom said it could be due to transmission issues so i wanted to check but soon realized that chevy models these cars in such a braindead way and i would have to get it looked at professionally to determine what the issue is. i thought that maybe the fluid was low because the symptoms of that align with what im dealing with, so i gathered up all my courage and drove 5 minutes to the nearest auto store after calling and making sure they have the fluid i need (this was before i learned that i wouldnt be able to just fill it myself), and on the way there it did the same things. i didnt have to stop completely at any point on the way there or back home, but my rpms shoot up to like 3 or 4 and my car barely climbs to 10-15mph.
the man at the auto store is who told me that i would have to get it professionally looked at after checking under my hood for a place to put the transmission fluid, and also told me that it would not be smart to blindly add fluid without having the level checked. he recommended that i go to a place to get the codes read, but im scared to drive the 15 minutes to the shop. a couple of weeks ago i went to autozone to have my codes read and the only thing that popped up was a sensor in my back left tire, which i think is why service traction control/service stabilitrak keeps popping up on my dash, because it would pop up everytime i drove for a couple of weeks, but weirdly enough for the past week neither light has popped up so idk what thats about but i purchased the sensor anyways. also the first time i had to pull over because it wasnt accelerating/jerking funnily enough i pulled over into a mechanic shop, but they told me to read the codes my check engine light would have to be on which sucks because the only time that light has been on is when the person that changed my oil a few months ago broke the oil filter cap and all the oil drained out while i was driving but it hasnt been on since getting all of that fixed.
my poppop has a guy that was gonna fix the valve cover gasket but im not sure if he does transmissions and i wouldnt be able to put it in the shop until friday anyways because thats when i get paid (im a broke college student so im really hoping this isnt gonna be too costly of a fix), but i also have to work tomorrow and thursday so i just dont know what to do, im at my wits end.
sorry for the long post, there are probably many errors but im not gonna painstakingly search for them so i hope this post reads well. any and all advice would be much appreciated.
(edits: i did in fact painstakingly search for errors)

hey all! i have a 2012 chevy cruze 1.8l with 147,000 miles, what oil do i need i have to change it in the next few days.
r/cruze • u/No_Description_3112 • 2d ago
It’s been safety certified in Ontario, with a recent oil change, 54,000 miles for the Americans :) thanks for your help everyone. I know every car is different, I’ve been told these cars are prone to coolant leaks, anything else i should watch out for?

Hello everyone, I bought my 2017 LT last November but I've never been able to make the android car play work. I've tried different cables and online guides but the pop up just flashes on my screen before I can switch to android car play. I would appreciate any advice:)

Hello everybody
When I start the car in the morning, especially after it has been sitting overnight, the engine makes a noticeably different/louder sound than it normally does. At the same time, the RPM goes up to around 1.1k
This never used to happen before, after engine runs for 15-20 seconds, rpm goes back to normal and so is engine sound
Im wondering if this is a normal ‘cold start’ issue or something relevant
Pls drop some advice , thanks!!

Welcoming home my $13,000 investment!
2018 Chevy Cruze LT. Baby girl has 37k on her. I know she was run on 87 and has turbo lag that’s very noticeable from it. Premium will help tolerate it better, yes?
Does anyone suggest anything to help with the turbo engine etc as well? (Specific spark plugs, etc.) I’ve never had a turbo on a car and want to make sure she’s as well taken care of as possible <3
-My lead technician at my shop (my previous post) was very iffy about this car knowing the bad rep of the Cruze. He came with me to inspect the car, and has been so happy with it ever since. He encouraged me to buy it after he inspected her, and after a test drive yesterday was incredibly satisfied with the car. Thank you all for helping me prove the worth of the G2
*I also really hate start/stop features. If anyone knows how to actually disable it let me know -.- it puts extra strain on the battery & starter and really… isn’t worth it for me. The dealership told me that there’s no disabling the start/stop option that’s in the car OEM

Car seems to idle fine, run fine.. But you have to press the gas or it turns back off. Anyone know what the problem may be? Hoping it's an easy fix, just got the car not long ago. As smell a very faint like burning has smell.

I love my gen2 cruze hatch. And she’s aging well, my Kia Rio 2013 hatch is starting to have all kinds of issues and had my thinking. Spec sheet tells me no.. but people seam to like them.
Is it just the Cruze wagon cross-country we didn’t get
