I've been working on my first built from scratch deck for a while, and am getting ready to playtest, but thought I'd see if anyone had any suggestions or feedback. The group I'll be mostly running this against generally play bracket 3 I think but tend to avoid having more than one game changer in a deck.
I mostly play Orzhov Aristocrats in Pioneer, and I already had some of the cards I needed for it, so I've stuck with that but have gone for more of a graveyard recursion theme than the heavy token generation i normally go for, so my commander is Liesa, Fallen Archangel (Teysa Karlov and Teysa, Orzhov Scion are alternate commanders that i think i can swap in with minimal replacement cards needed for when i want a slight change to how it plays).
Basic game plan is group slug in terms of both causing opponents to sac creatures (Fleshbag Mauruder effects, Braids Arisen Nightmare, and Grave Pact effects) and life drain (Bastion of Remembrance, Sephiroth etc), while keeping my creatures coming back from the graveyard to hand or battlefield depending on method so that I've got more fuel for the slug effects. There's still some token generation but not as much as I'd normally go for in this style of deck if I was building for 60 card formats.
Theres a pretty substantial maybe/considering list on the moxfield for the deck, which is a mix of potential cheaper alternatives for some components, some I'm just not sure if they have a place in the deck, and some cards that i know I'd like but probably can't afford right now (like The Soul Stone).
There's also some cards in the Sideboard section that are my current focus from a "can I fit this idea in" perspective. The current version of the deck has Kaya the Inexorable, Lolth Spider Queen and Liliana Heretical Healer//Liliana Defiant Necromancer), and while I'm not too worried about getting the Lolth emblem, I do want the Kaya and Lili ones, so I was trying to figure out if I can fit some Proliferate options into the deck. Yawgmoth seemed to be the best option and I actually have him already, but only putting a single source of it in feels dicey, so I was looking at what I can cut to replace with other creatures and instants/sorceries that proliferate could without massively shifting the focus of my deck. If I can't fit them in, I may drop the planeswalkers as the odds of getting the emblems drops significantly.
I'm hopefully going to be able to proxy some of the stuff I'm missing and start playtesting in the next few weeks, so keen to hear your thoughts. Like I said its my first scratch built commander deck (and probably my only one for quite a while, mostly I play precons where the whole pod is using the FF or Fallout decks) so I'm sure I've probably missed some obvious considerations.
