So I used to cover the BOPC meetings every week starting in late 2020. Thanks to the pandemic, everything was virtual, thus all the public comments came virtually. Now, one commissioner wants to get rid of all virtual comments and only allow people who show up to the meeting in person to be able to speak.

I've gout my own thoughts on this, especially given the timeline of when the motion was made during the meeting, but I'm curious to know what you all think. Should Detroit's police oversight board continue hearing comments from the folks who tune in via Zoom, or should they only heard from people in the room? Let me know what you all think.

Last night I was heading home, driving past Ann arbor, and decided to turn on Uber and make a few bucks. I usually deliver around the Detroit area but the pay per order in Ann Arbor was WAY higher than I expected. Lots of $15 for 30 minute orders.

Is this a one-off? Is this Uber trying to keep me in Ann Arbor? Do college students just tip better?

Would it be worth making Ann Arbor my regular spot instead of Detroit?

Does anyone know what type of contractor I should be looking for to handle underground plumbing on an older building in Detroit?

I’m working on an older building that needs the underground plumbing addressed in order to get it white-boxed and meet the requirements for a certificate of occupancy. The building itself is in good shape, but I’m having trouble figuring out who specifically handles this type of work on older buildings. Bonus points if you have a person!

If anyone has experience with this or knows what type of contractor I should be searching for, I’d appreciate the advice!

This year, the Detroit district is sending a stronger message to parents that their children must remain in class the entire school day.

The Detroit Public Schools Community District wants to curb unexcused early sign-outs, defined by administrators as instances in which parents pick up their children before the school day ends without documentation showing it is necessary, such as a doctor’s appointment.

Starting this school year, parents who repeatedly unnecessarily take their kids out of school early will have to attend meetings and sign attendance contracts.

In town last week in September and through the first weekend of October. I’m looking for places that you would go out of your way to go eat at if you didn’t live here anymore I’m talking those places that make your dreams have dreams about the food being so good.
Will be working most days and need breakfast and dinner spots mostly. Driving not an issue, I want you to make my taste buds explode with the best flavors in the city.

Sorry If I cannot ask this here. I am looking for a high school my recently deceased mother attended between 1980 and 1984 (graduation year.) Before, she told me the schools name and that it had closed long ago. I don't recall the name, it may have been Cody something? It MAY have been within walking distance of the Stoepel Park area (she lived on one of the neighboring streets.)

This ramp is significantly backed up all the time now. It seems like half the traffic on 75 South takes it when this has historically been a lower volume exit. What traffic pattern or construction elsewhere is causing this? I’ve been using this ramp daily for 20 years and it’s never been this busy.

Is this event worth its money? Did anybody go there in the past years?

Are all the exhibits open as normal?

I am contemplating if that would be a fun thing to do on a date night or if money and time are better spend somewhere else.

I saw a group of kids led by man who seemed a little sus. He was speaking in a harsh way to them as a group (couldn’t make out what he said, just a tone) then the kids dispersed then began selling candy. Are these kids ok? Anyone else see this sorta thing? It could have just been their father or something, but it was late and idk… odd to me. I have been approached by the kids being asked to buy candy before, but never have seen them with an adult like this instance.
