The Mega thread for buying and selling advice is back, and will be updated biweekly!
There are far too many posts of people asking for personalized bike buying and selling advice. Per previous Mod actions, any posts about bike buying/selling advice that are not in this thread will be removed.
Here, those interested in giving feedback about your purchase or listing can offer it without every subreddit member being subjected to the same post dozens of times per day.
Topics to keep in the mega thread:

What's up guys? It's still a work in progress - and I'm new-ish to managing a discord server, so if you have experience/want to help out shoot me a message!
To be clear: This is NOT a replacement for the sub. It's totally optional. If there's interest, I'd be open to streaming the SX races in the server. The Discord server will also be great for asking questions that would violate our rules in here such as asking what bikes are worth and what not.
Just click the link and join! https://discord.gg/Xz3bJEhPRw

Enduro’s in the Pacific Northwest are a different beast from everywhere else I’ve raced, but man they’re fun! Y’all should check them out.

Been 11 months since I had a nasty fall from a big jump. Broke my femur and a couple bones in my lower back. Needed a couple operations and many months of physio to get near normal again.
I miss riding immensely. Thinking to go back to trail riding, easy dunes in the desert etc.
But I have a tendency to push limits which is what I need to keep in check.
Anyone else ride again after a significant accident? How was it both mentally and physically?
I think I'll wait a few more months until I have full strength in my hips, but I frequently think about it and miss it.
Wife and kids are against me doing it but they won't stop me if I wanted to do it.
Any constructive feedback welcome! Thanks in advance

He's doing all sorts of research which is great, but his wish list is higher end... he's talking KX112, KLX140. Won't bother with the rest, but they MSRP above $3,000 which is way out of budget and we don't need a new bike. So having grown up a city boy without access to dirt bikes, I'm not sure where to start.
Used definitely makes sense.. craigslist? Facebook marketplace? or is there a good dedicated platform (like how Swappa is good for phones)
Anything youth is fine, but he's the size of a teenager already at almost 12yo. He's 5'4" 150lbs. Should I just stick to adult sized?
I don't know what a pit vs trail or the 'type' to look for much less particular specs or categories.
I'm sure this question gets asked all the time, so I should go searching, and I will. Thanks in advance for advice.

Looking for an older YZ125X. People saying 2005 and up is the way to go because of the frames. Also I live in Cali so I can’t register a new one to ride on the trails anyway so I’m limited to YZs from 2005 to 2021. Can’t really find an X model that I like from that time period. I was wondering what other bikes exist 2021 or older that are roughly like the YZ125X? Not asking for recommendations, just trying to see what exists. Preferably Japanese bikes. Thank you

Oh yeahhh only 10 hours on the top and bottom end. Just fully rebuilt with Wisco parts. Valves, jug, carb, everything has been gone through.
Okay sweet, you have the shop invoice?
Done it all myself man.
Awesome, can you show me your email confirmations or your receipts.
Oh I don't have any of that man. But don't worry, my 26 year old bike rips bro.

I know I know, lessons are lame. I don’t care. I respond well to them. All the local guys I want to ride with are way faster than me and I’d like to learn a little faster so I have at least some chance of not being the excruciatingly slow guy on every ride.
On a 300 2t riding single track in the mountains. Wanting to take some riding lessons somewhere in CO, maybe UT or NM. Have considered getting a 125 and learning motocross if it would help.

I’m wanting to see what everyone recommends for a slip on exhaust. The bike isn’t terribly loud to begin with (2001 KTM 250 exc) but I’m trying to be respectful of the neighbors.
I’m looking for the *quietest* exhaust. Just don’t want to loose riding privileges on a loop that goes through part of their land. Thanks!

For some context I earlier I was going about 30 miles per hour down a hill so some perfect timing and I suddenly lost my front brake it looks like I must have mounted it wrong and it was rubbing against the caliper but it was quite possibly the worst time to loose breaks plus I just found out a oem cable is 50$

Hi all! Bought this bike with a known problem that it would not crank. I could get it to kick a few times but otherwise very difficult almost where it is locked up. Removed the engine with anticipation that it’ll get rebuilt. Once I removed the cam/crank chain and head the engine spins actually very nice. So definitely not bottom end. I’m waiting for the valve spring tool compressor tool to come in still but I noticed the marring on the head and the caps that hold the cam bearings in place. Does this mean that the outter bearing was turning in there? Side note. The bearings are smooth and operate perfectly. Additionally the lobes are within tolerances. It’s a CRF250R 2004. My main question is would I need new heads?

I’m looking for my first pair of enduro boots; I plan to ride trails in rocky mountains as well as muddy ones. Does the sole matter much? I was looking at the Leatt 4.5 boot, and there are two versions: one with an MX sole and one with an enduro sole. However, the MX-soled version is currently much cheaper in my country. Does it make a big difference? Or could I use MX soles for enduro without running into issues? I don't want to be slipping and sliding all over the place, haha.

Definitely a newbie question but I’m curious how many hours you can get on a 2 stroke bike, assuming good maintenance. And can you just rebuild the engine over and over until a bike has like thousands of hours on it?

Hello, so ive been trying to fix this problem for over a week at this point. Now i do wanna say im generally good at fixing and inspecting my bike, but since this is electrical i have no idea. Really quickly how it started, it started one night where the bike just suddenly died. I stopped to see what happened, checked the sparkplug and then suddenly it worked again. Later that night i really stopped working. I got home and it hasnt worked since, or well it suddenly gave me some sparks yesterday without me doing anything, and then suddenly vanished again. I might ofc have done something wrong, but according to the official diagram and me testing with multimeter, every wire should be connected. i tried swithing coil to no help. same with cdi. so im guessing somethings wrong with the stator maybe, so i have ordered a new one. So i thought while i wait i can probbably get help from someone who maybe has some experience with this stuff. It is a Fantic caballero 50 SM. and also, so sorry if this is the wrong subreddit 😭

we went to a local mud track event, i was just part of the service crew, neveresmt to race this time, we brought the white yamaha dt100 with a lot of hope to take home a trophy in dt100 class only for it to blow up on the last test run before the race, my friend (60 something years old btw) on the yellow ts125 still took home a trophy, thought that was it until i was washing the ts125 and saw a class about to run(they were all 100cc+ 5 speed street oriented bikes modded to run offroad, wanted to ride something i ran to the register and asked if i could join on the pitscooter (80cc 3 speed yamaha y80) and ofc they said yes, they get the money afterall, ran back to my pit, put on the boots and my helmet and rode that thing straight to the gate, the track was so slipery everybody was crashing everywhere, had a really troublesome race as i was on street legal tiny tires that barely grip, crashed on the 2nd lap and bent the fuck outta the shifter so i had to hand shift it into 1st and ride the whole track like that, some more crashes from just sliding around but still ended up getting 5th, there were 8 bikes in the class so i guess thats not too bad, this y80 is built to run in another event for the 3 speed underbone scooter class they have running next month, i brought it to use as a pitbike and to test it a bit, never thought it would even run on the track lol, the organizer had a trophy left so they made up another award for fan favourite compettitor and i got that aswell so we went home with 3 trophies, was a great trackday
