Im having a fairytale 21st and would love a game to play. I was thinking like a mock UN but with 4 kingdoms (north, east, south, west) but maybe more of a DND style.

Is this achievable to create without putting in more than 5 hours of organizing work before hand?

It doesnt need to go on for longer than 1-2 hours I just really want something interactive! Its also for like 36ppl so 4 groups of 9 ppl

If it would require more than 4-5 hours could I like pay someone to help me create it to reduce the load? does anyone have a scaffolding I could follow?

Am i biting off way more than I can chew?

This is description by my client:

The first figure is goddess of fate, Iru. Iru is a three headed woman (Living Tribunal style) and wears a cloak of stars. The lower half of her body is an enormous loom with each strand being a living beings existence (past, present, future, all that). By weaving it together she causes people to interact, and by cutting a thread she effectively kills them.

The second figure is manifestation of chaos, Ishi. Ishi is more cosmic horror where Iru is divine. She is very reminiscent of The Man in the Wall from Warframe. She is a giant pillar with a chimera engraved into it. Each part of the chimera is straining to separate itself and kill the other parts of its body. There are two snakes. The pillar is ornate and made of marble and gold.

So, I was wondering, what ways are there to make sure you don’t die? I’m thinking something like a ready action with revivify that activates when either my hp hits zero or I actually “die”, but more long term, like something I could have that just always works. Almost like a Minecraft totem of undying. Does anyone have any ideas for something like that? If possible I would prefer no home brew, cause well we haven’t really done any large mechanical home brew so my dm prolly would say no to this one. I am fine with loop holes though, like how if you cast moon beam, you can move it on another turn and still cast a bonus action leveled spell bc you aren’t actually casting another leveled spell.

I'm pretty new to DnD with most of my experience coming from Baldur's Gate 3.

I got early access to the Arcana Unleashed book and reading about the Vestige Warlock's companion left it feeling very... lackluster. I'm talking specifically about the companion's abilities. A lot of people seem to say it will be really good, so I want to run through my understanding of the companion so somebody can point out if I'm missing something.

The companion can attack with 1d6+3+Cha Mod, but only if you give up your own Action. At level 5 when you get 2 Eldritch Blasts per Attack, this would just fall off in comparable damage, plus having to give up my Action would honestly just feel bad. Why do I have to choose between taking my action (and playing the core of my class) to engage with my subclass's primary feature?

I can use my bonus action to have the companion use its bonus action. This didn't seem too bad until I realized the companion only has a single bonus action ability and you only get to use is ONCE per day.

And that just seems to be it. Like, what else is there? There is probably some synergy between the companion and the Gaze of Two Minds invocation, but to my understanding, Familiars can just already do that without requiring an invocation. I have to be missing something, right?

Also, since the Vestige Companion can take any form and uses your proficiencies for skill checks and saving throws, does that mean it can do things like pick locks, open doors, keep watch while the party rests, go fetch water, etc?

We get a lot of polls asking folks what their favorite level to play at is. And those results are often used to make inferences about what level players would like campaigns to end at, but insofar as I can tell, it has been years since that more specific question was asked.

I know a lot of people are going to look at this and think, "well it depends" or "the campaign should end when it reaches a natural end point." If you are in that camp, please search your heart of hearts and ask yourself, under ideal circumstances, in the most perfect campaign you can imagine, at what level would that natural end point arrive?

For those who are very deliberate about their music choice at the table, what factors go into that choice?

For example, let's say your party is traveling the high seas. I'd imagine most people pick music by a few factors:

• Intensity - is the party chilling below deck? Fighting a sea monster?
• Speed - this probably goes along with intensity to an extent but it can be different. Like intense but slow gives more of a feeling of dread (the sea monster is lurking below the ship), and not intense but fast can give a sense of whimsy (the party meets a fun pod of dolphins who want to play).
• Time of day - night music often sounds different than day music, more than just crickets chirping.

What other factors go into your choice of music to find the right vibe for a particular scene or setting?

I love that you can still see the indents left by the many character sheets filled out on top of this old copy of Dragon Magazine from July 1983. It feels like a small link to the past. The characters may be long gone, but traces of those old games still remain more than 40 years later.

Wherever those players are today, I hope they’re doing well, and that at least a few of these characters survived.

A few days ago, I had applied for a play-by-post campaign and contacted the DM. We had a chat about the character I wanted to play and he seemed to really like my concept. We spent a while fleshing out the backstory and connections that could be made to fit the character into the setting. And I left that meeting feeling like I made a decent impression. 

The next day, I get an invite to the Discord server and was chatting with a few of the other players who got accepted, talking about the party comp (3 wizards, 1 sorc, and 1 rogue) and what we've been up to irl. I was still making adjustments to my character, which I was gonna post onto the server the next day after I finished. 

Today, I was unable to reply in the morning since I had to go to work early. During my bathroom break, I checked my phone and noticed I was no longer in the server. I thought it was weird, maybe I got desynced or the internet where I worked was being iffy or I left the server via butt dial (seemed the least likely). So I rejoined the server and let the DM know about the situation before returning to work. When I looked back at my phone during my lunch break, I checked my phone and realized I was no longer in the server again. This time, the DM sent a message and told me he kicked me intentionally. He talked about how we had different momentums and thought it would be best if I searched for a different campaign to be a part of. I told him to enjoy his campaign but also asked if he could elaborate and so far, he’s been ghosting me.

I’m not exactly sure what he meant by “momentum” and still don’t really understand. From what I saw before I lost access to the server, only one person had their character finished. I had spent a lot of time working on my character too and was really looking forward to the campaign, especially with the amount of attention the DM and I had put into fleshing out the character a few days prior. I’m a bit disappointed, especially since his first resort was to just kick me rather than explain or give me a warning.

TL;DR: Joined a PBP campaign with a friendly DM, got kicked with no explanation. Rejoined and kicked again, with the DM's reasoning that we had different momentums.

Last year I got to DM a game with some celebs at a convention in New Zealand! I wrote a very silly beginner-friendly adventure featuring as many puns as I could possibly fit.

Deep in the Underdark, the vile necromancer Enephti (pronounced NFT) has replaced his workforce of living miners with skeletons to dig treasures from an ancient tomb (his crypt-currency, if you will).

The protesting dwarfs are being imprisoned in stocks, and the most troublesome locals are swapped in and out of the bonds to make examples of them (the stock exchange, if you will).

Enephti’s undead workers are immune to the fungal spores that pollute the mining tunnels (non-fungusable assets, if you will). The spores are acidic to all organic life, and those few dwarf workers that still stoop to serve Enephti suffer continual burns to their skin (scabs, if you will).

Any would-be heroes who wish to emancipate the town will have to contend with various traps and wards, including magical chains barring the entrance to the mines (blockchains, if you will), and barriers of magical flame under the earth (firewalls, if you will).

No generative AI was used in the creation of this project.

(This is just a sketch) Navanna is a forest gnome who's also a druid. Since she's my very first one, i fear she's not the best out there. She has an artisan background. Neutral Good. I rolled for her abilities but, i might change that since i recently read that way i get an overly skilled character lol plus the gnome and artisan bonus, i think that's true! her bigger numer is 16 and the smaller is 11! She also owns a short bow and a punch knife, i'm pretty sure i got suggested a scimitar but i can actually remember if i added it.

For me it would be a 20/20 wizard bladesinger/fighter eldritch knight for a character who loved magic but as he grew older and to discipline himself began to train his body.

I had an idea for an all in one dice box and tower and so I quickly threw together a model on tinkercad and used my old and tired ender 3 to print this. I am planning on making one out of some nicer hardwood in the near future. I'd love to get some feedback and thoughts from you all as well. Things you'd change or add? What would you name it? I had originally named the file "DicePal", but I'm not too crazy on that name. Thanks for any and all help

One of my players pulled from the deck of many things and got a wish. He wished that he could summon a dead to ask at as many times as he likes and be able to take control of the dead body, I let it go through because his character was kind of already home, bro, where he could inhabit the body of anything that was dead but with the caveat that he cannot leave that creature, but that’s not exactly what I’m here to talk about he asked. Would they blow up like beach whales because of the decaying gas and I don’t know what to say to that. lol I just thought I’d ask all of you guys for your opinion

Jus' wondering what all y'all think are the funniest Glyph Of Warding spell glyphs for a party to set off.

I like shopping for dice in my free time, and there are so many sets out there that I just roll my eyes whenever I see them. What sets of dice are you tired of seeing, annoyed by, or just hate using?

Personally, I’m so tired of seeing dice with eyeballs inside them. It’s so overused, and I feel like there are so many other things that could be floating inside instead, like moons or fireballs.

Don't know it this is the right place, but I thought I'd try my luck. So I usually host my DND parties and cook tavern lunches for everyone. However I don't DM for those groups. Now I'll dm my first campaign and will probably need the time for prepping the session, so I need to think of Alternatives. Does anyoune know about a dnd-themed cooking subreddit? Or maybe a place where I can find good and easy medieval pot luck ideas? Pinterest was sadly a massive let down on that part.

Hey, I am playing a tragedy Bard in an upcoming game and am stuck on deciding what god she worships.

She is Lawful Neutral and sees death as an inevitability that is neither good or bad. The best deity I found so far is the Raven Queen, as she embodies death and fate.

Does anybody know of another god that could be fitting? Storytelling, fate, death, prophecy and tragedy are the main themes I am looking for.
