Homemade Turkish Chicken Doner Kebab

Made this Turkish-style chicken doner at home using seasoned minced chicken, then baked it, sliced it thin, and loaded it into flatbread with fresh salad and homemade garlic sauce.

The crispy edges and juicy chicken were so good! 🤤

Would you try homemade chicken doner?

Has anyone every tried the frozen doner meat? What’s it like? I’m trying to just eat at home more now and make these meals myself instead of buying them on uber eats all the time but was just wondering if they was any good

What frozen doner meat is the closest to kebab shop meat.

Let’s skip all the usual trope that bossman is better as I would be inclined to agree. But needs must as home made a lot cheaper. Going to attempt making my own from scratch in the near future. But would appreciate useful and helpful views on best frozen doner meat.

This is a weapon of a thing from a local I used to order from in Dublin. Can't remember the name, was always a deliveroo job. Think it was only about €7, no doubt it wasn't top quality, but fuck me it would hit the spot.

One in the style of u/dabassmonsta

An absolute Bromsgrove institution, this time I went for the large lamb doner wrap, salad, garlic mayo and homemade chilli sauce.

£8.20 so exactly 1p per gram 😂. They're always too big to eat whole and I have to unwrap and pick at it before I can re-roll and eat as intended.

Run by a great Turkish bloke and his 3 sons. They also do excellent lamb and chicken shish swords and lamb kofte swords all cooked on their charcoal grill. There's always a queue out of the door unsurprisingly.

Believe it or not this isn't their biggest option either, they do an XL too which I've had before and it was 1.1kg!

Whole bill come to £12 for the wrap, small fries and a can of pop. It does me 2 meals.

If you're ever in the area I encourage you to give it a try.

The Lord of the Grill - Bracknell

Played a gig in Bracknell and had to return to this van. I've been here once before and didn't have the home made chili sauce.

Here we have a lamb doner wrap, fried onions & jalapeños with their home made chili sauce and some mint sauce. The meat was pre-cut, taken from a tray and heated on the hot plate, adding onions and jalapeños at my request. Strangely, not a big fan of raw onion but I love fried onion. Chilli sauce was very pleasant; not overly spicy, warm and flavoursome.

Tale of the tape... this weighed in at a very decent 659g for £8.50. I've given it an A grade for the homemade chili sauce and an A grade overall. This has landed on the spreadsheet at 5th place out of 91.

This was a good kebab and I would definitely return here. Very impressive. Praise the Lord! 🙏

A bit of a different style of doner as it is served more like how they do it in turkey with thin sheets of doner.

There is a layer of rice under the meat. Very tasty although slightly expensive for the portion size. There was an option of going large but i was comfortably full by the end with the regular size. Salad was covered in oil, balsamic and some other seasoning. Shame they don’t give you any of the garlic or chilli sauce that you normally get at a Turkish place.

Overall a decent kebab although go for the large if you’re hungry.
