Dream feeling a bit miserable

Just woke up from a bad dream, not really a nightmare but I wasn't happy. It was about my parents. I forgot how it happened but I was confronting my mum but she started touching and harassing me. I told her to stop and threatened to call the police, she didn't stop so next minute i'm explaining the situation to this lady on the phone. I got asked a bunch of weird questions, like a survey, and I can't remember them but I'm pretty sure they were random. When they had actually came I regretted calling them and tried defending my mum, also telling them idc what happens to my dad just leave my mum. The police didn't do anything and went back to asking me questions, then my cat appeared randomly. Hardly any logic behind this but the police suggested I sacrifice one of my cat's legs which was supposed to make me feel better. Obviously I didn't want to but next thing i know he respawned with 2 missing, I felt guilty for it and pretty sure I cried in the dream. ATP my mum has disappeared out of the dream and I had to deal with my dad. He made his disdain quite clear and basically told me to kms. I don't have a good relationship with him, ages ago I've had one or two bad dreams about him trying to kill me.

Hello, what crucial thing that happened yesterday before you dreamed this or did you have watched something that disturbing you? Maybe the cat in your dream is your guide paid with their legs so you won't get nightmare again soon, I think the bad relationship with your dad already reach deeper within your unconcious and they need to be resolved so it won't bother you anymore.

Nothing shocking has happened to me nor have I watched anything sinister. I don't usually have bad dreams, 99% of the time they're good/neutral. My dad isn't violent or abusive towards me, but he is a deadbeat and he and my mum argue frequently, whether it's about something big or small. I get annoyed by the arguing and bickering, sometimes hateful and indignant, mostly towards my dad. These emotions, along with the dread I've been experiencing due to an upcoming change, probably worked together to give me my recent bad dreams. I'm not really sure about the cat though.

confrontation anxiety is a pretty common trigger for dreams, like if there is anything you are wanting to talk about, it would likely remind you of all the bad confrontations at home, and just thinking about saying something could produce an anxiety dream like 'everyone will be mean about it if i say something'.

it's possible you feel like you are missing general kindness that would support you, like with the cat. cats in dreams tend to have their own personality and traits, some cats are absolute jerks, but i still love them a little bit i guess, other cats are kind and pleasant. cats usually want food and attention, sometimes they want to know where everyone is at (they watch when ppl come and go, so they know who is behind doors for example and my cats wait at the bathroom door for me and such). perhaps you need some information about where someone will be, but are worried about a confrontation if you ask. the 'kms' reference is probably about giving up, not saying anything, like considering that as an option and what the possible outcome would be if you kept quiet.

where did the dream take place (within in dream world, not irl)? setting is often important to the meaning of the dream.

I remember the setting was in my house, and for a brief moment in the garden where I saw my cat with 2 missing legs. Confrontation anxiety was good to point out, since I always opt out of voicing my opinions and emotions, I'd rather keep them to myself. I'm also a very quiet person, everyone I know has said that at some point

being at home is a place of relative comfort and familiarity, this rules out the dream being about stepping way outside of a comfort zone. the garden could be areas where you could encourage growth, like if it is a small field or something it could be about developing knowledge in some area.

i dreamed about a home garden once in relation to my studying dream analysis, and much of my early study was done online in forums like this.
