Question How minting work ?
Hello everyone, I know it look like a stupid question but I'm lost with this source of ducat
How can I minting more without having inflation ?
On the wiki, for Hungary, there is a tip where it's say that I need to prioritize the RGO gold and silver, but when I look at my economy, at the minting part, it's say that I have malus of inflation because of my gold and silver ...
And on the wiki page of minting, it's say "Income from minting range from 0% to 25% of the country's tax base modified by the Income from minting modifier and increase demand for Gold and Silver"
Ok, so what ?
Ho and ... it's inflation so very bad at the end ? Once I put minting at max to fix a crisis, then I make some deflation and 25 years laters I don't see the big problem
Thanks in advance for the help ^^'

Increase your minting thresehold.

You need to prioritize silver and gold RGOs but not for minting, just because they are high-value RGOs,

Inflation increase all prices, I don't think I need to stress out how bad it is.
Once I put minting at max to fix a crisis, then I make some deflation and 25 years laters I don't see the big problem
It is generally not a good idea if you can avoid it, income of minting is linear and so is inflation gain. The consequence is that whatever you gain from minting over the threshold, you will lose as much to reduce your inflation.

Seems to be based on your tax base from 0% to 25% (modified by minting income) and how much you can mint without inflation depends on the minting treshold (5% base + % from law and privileges)

Here I got a tax base of 100.29 on max minting it gives me 25% of that so, 25.07 and with a 10% bonus due to my coinage law so I have 27.58 ducats coming from max minting
So if you want more minting you need to increase control to high wealth provinces and also import whatever resources your minting is based on

You need gold and silver but not too much. The tooltip is accurate.
For example if you are one-location, and it has gold rgo, you will likely get a lot of inflation so you can't mint too much. I think it's a balancing thing to make sure one-location gold rgo is not too rich.

Inflation is VERY bad in the long term, yes. It increases the cost of literally everything that you pay for. Your sliders, buildings, building maintenance, everything. Inflation can be crippling if you’re not careful, it can send you into a debt spiral very easily.

And it is a bad idea to sometime make max minting with inflation, to reach enough money to have some building/road/city and then stop it ?
It's dangerous ?

You’re significantly better off taking loans or bonds (depending on which has more money/less interest) than you are minting to inflation. Minting to inflation is more of an emergency measure, like if you max mint and it keeps you from having to take a loan that month, or if you need a very short term boost to your economy (like during a war.)
In small doses inflation can be okay, but the issue with it is that it drives all of your costs up so ultimately you’re really not making any money.

The problem is, if you max mint to build a building or build a road, it gets you coming and going. The cost of the building or road just got more expensive by however much inflation you generated, AND you make less money because inflation drove all your other costs up too.
And to reduce inflation you’ll have to make less money from minting.
If you take a loan, you can instantly pay for whatever it is you want to build, and the money that building makes can often be a wash with whatever interest you had to pay for the loan. (Or if you had to take a few loans, then build some buildings that make your economy better, you can take another, bigger loan to consolidate the old ones, etc.)

Yes of course
For the context, when I max my minting for some time, it was because I need lot of money for the stability and legitimity x)

You don’t need to spend money on stability. With the commoner estate interaction that gives you 20 stab for free, you’re genuinely better off almost never spending a penny on stability. Being negative really doesn’t hurt you that much, being below -50 sucks slightly because you can’t declare war, but that’s about it. I went down to -85 stability in my Byz game and it was fine. Just put a cabinet member on stab for a while and used the commoner interaction whenever it came off of cooldown.
Legitimacy though definitely makes sense.

If you have a certain amount of inflation, you might get the parliament issue that reduces inflation. Partly by a fixed amount and partly by a monthly process, so you can put that slider to the max and still reduce inflation.
So minting a little more and having a little inflation isnt bad.

If possible you should try and keep some inflation it helps you to get balance the budget on your parliament just don’t let it get too out of hand I think the magic number is around 5%.

I avoid inflation at all costs because at most you can reduce it by 0.13% unless you get lucky with parliament or some event. I prefer to take loans as those are easier to clear by getting money from your estates. Even as ERE i try to reduce inflation first. I take loans and go into negative income. At 9% inflation it takes a decade to reduce it.

You do need to focus on increasing your gold and silver RGO's. But that will also increase inflation naturally, unless you put that gold and silver back into circulation by using them in production.
Build jewelry guilds.
You can also build other gold and silver using buildings like capital only buildings, counting houses etc.
