I was fortunate enough to have my soul-cat, Cooke, included as a pet through the Eiyuden Chronicle Kickstarter. She recently passed away at 18 years old, and though I miss her dearly, I’ve been finding some comfort in visiting her little pixel self. They did such an incredible job of making her look just like her.

Cooke absolutely adored attention and pets, so it feels especially fitting that she gets to keep doing what she loved in the game.

If anyone happens to be playing through the game, or feels like stopping by Twinhorne West, I’d love it if you said hi to her and gave her a little love for me. It would mean a lot to me to know that, even now, people are still stopping by to visit Cooke.

Today, the 31st of Leafmoon, marks the end of the month, and what better way to close it out than with the birthday of the great star Tenyuu: Mio. Mio is undoubtedly a brave and loyal samurai—calm and very serious when taking action, and someone who doesn't beat around the bush.

It is interesting that she is so self-assured and shares her birthday with a great twin baboon king.

I’m nearing endgame and I don’t want to brick his levels (he’s currently at 50.)

I’ve been busy, but I want to wish a happy birthday to our star—number 72, Chiko—Hogan. His birthday was two days ago, on the 28th of Leafmoon. Even though Hogan made the task of selling enough goods to recruit him a bit of a hassle, it was worth it; the experience actually helped me later, reminding me of a similar situation in Suikoden II. Ultimately, Hogan proved to be a valuable helper and merchant.

I ask because she is treated as a special character. She is very unique in a sea of playable characters and has a unique way to be recruited but i have no idea why she gets such special treatment. In the army mini game she can actually lead HER OWN unit which is normally reserved strictly to the high general/ruler types of the game but randomly she is one?

I do not recall her from the Rising spin off (been a long time since i played that though) so yeah i have to ask why is she held of such import when besides where you recruit her lingering at a dock you see literally nothing of her in the story before hand or after? I do not even recall her interacting with anyone else during the entire game - she a cross over character?

Fan of the suikoden franchise and one of the initial backers on Kickstarters. Despite having the game downloaded on steam, I've been holding off starting the game, hoping there'd be an official patch to fix the broken rune system many have complained about. It seems that said patch isn't going to materialize, so am wondering if there's any custom fan-made mod out there that addresses the outstanding issues with the game. TIA!

I've been replaying this game for the past servant weeks. I absolutely love it. One of the best aspects is the theater (though finding the scripts is a bit of a pain). In my recent playthrough, I just unlocked the theater a few days ago.

I finally went into it today and had my 4to daughter with my as i went to the theater. I did Red Riding Hood several times with her (she kept asking me to do it again). It's so fun casting different characters on different roles. Some characters are perfect for the roles (Garr as the Wolf... Garroo works well too). Others are just hilarious... i cast Euma as Romeo in Star Cross'd Lovers and he did not disappoint with how terrible he was at it (in a funny way). Another favorite from my first playthrough was Kogen as the narrator for Star Cross'd Lovers. His reactions had me rolling.

So... what are some of your favorite cast combinations? Who fit the rules best? Who had you cracking up?

I almost missed it, but today—the 18th of Leafmoon—is the birthday of Galladur. He is no ordinary fighter; he always delivers a clean yet improvised strike with his greatsword—a weapon capable of cutting down almost any foe.

I hope he returns to the fray someday, for he possesses great power as a fighter.

Today, the 17th of Leafmoon, marks the birthday of our great snow-climber and adventurer, Rudy—undoubtedly someone who risked his life for his companions in the snowy lands north of Atrabalt, and a young man of great courage, just like Nowa.

I bought and platinumed EC Rising years ago and thought it was a fun and easy going playthrough.
But i just finished platinuming Suikoden 1 and 2 HD and i absolutely loved the two games.

I obviously wanted to move onto Suikoden 3-5 but those games arent available on the PS5 or modern consoles. I then remembered EC 100 Heroes and saw it was only $20 so i immediately picked it up. How bad could it be right?

So is this game as good as Suikoden 1/2 if i loved those games? Are there any tips or things you wish you knew? Also i will probably try for the platinum but i heard its a crazy grind?

I cant believe it took me about 30 years to finally try these games and i enjoyed Suikoden 1/2 much much more than i thought.

What it does:

• Money, difficulty, New Game+ count, fortress town level/population
• Full roster — recruit or remove any of the 121 characters, with a "Recruit all" button. Tested end-to-end in-game, behaves exactly like a normal in-game recruitment.
• Per-character EXP, HP, MP, weapon level, all four equipment slots and their rune holes — everything.
• Inventory grouped into categories (medicine, runes, cards, town resources, etc.) instead of one giant list
• Shows each save's Steam Cloud sync status so you don't accidentally edit a save that's about to get overwritten
• A Raw JSON tab if you want to poke at anything else — story flags, achievements, whatever

Every write is verified before it touches your disk (decrypts what it just wrote and compares it against what it meant to save), and it always makes a .bak first. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.

Requires: Python 3.8+ (already on most systems) and a browser. Windows users can just double-click a .bat file.

I’ve seen a video allowing you to jump from level 20 to 99. Aside from that, what are the other optimal points (level and particular battle) should I watch out for as to not miss such level jumps?

What’s the easiest to do or most convenient one?

As a Suikoden min-maxer, I’ve always been on the lookout for such points. I just don’t want to go over the level thresholds.

Just starting out in the game and I already have a bunch of units. I understand characters are good depending on where you at in the game, but I’m wondering the what is the biggest factor in determining whether a character is good.

I’m a Suikoden vet and for example in S2, rune slots were king. Is it the same here?

To mark International Wolf Day, I also want to share a drawing where I celebrate with Garr and wish him a happy Wolf Day. I also invited my great werewolf Eiyu (Sajin Komamura) to meet Garr, so he could offer his own congratulations and wish a happy Wolf Day to Sajin—my favorite.

Even though I hugged Sajin and Garr felt a bit jealous, in the end, we celebrated like good friends.

It’s also the first time I’ve drawn Garr.

Today we celebrate this day by wishing the best for our great wolves: Shiro from Suikoden II and Garr from Eiyuden Chronicle.

Shiro is a magnificent wolf and a loyal companion to Kinnison; together with Riliu, they managed to defeat powerful enemies like Luca and liberate all of Jowston. In the end, he even became the godfather to Kinnison's child—heh heh.

And Garr—despite not being perfect—is a wonderful mentor to Nowa, Lian, and Mio. He guided them and treated them as if they were his own children; indeed, Garr acts as a father figure to Nowa, having prepared him well and felt proud when they liberated Alrann from Aldric.

I was busy yesterday, the 12th of Leafmoon, but I’m back now to wish a happy birthday to Euma, Perrielle’s great friend. Although he sometimes makes mistakes and can be prone to nervousness, deep down he is a noble soul capable of doing the right thing, even when his errors lead him to question himself.

And today, the 13th of Leafmoon, is the birthday of our great Kuroto. Even though he serves as a secondary sniper, his dedication to defending nature is truly admirable; he undoubtedly possesses a noble soul and is willing to put himself at risk to save the young ones.

Today—August 7th, or the 7th of Leafmoon—marks the birthday of our favorite wolf, Garr. He is the captain of Nowa’s guard, a mercenary, and the mentor who guided Nowa, Lian, and Mio on their adventure. Beyond his roles as captain and mentor, he was also like a father figure to Nowa; he was always kind to him and ready to protect him, even at the cost of his own life. While he served as a mentor, he took great pride in Nowa as a commander, as well as in having trained Lian and Mio and having accompanied Seign and Marisa.

It still makes me laugh that he talked about retiring at the start of Eiyuden—even though he was only 32; that really took me by surprise!

Anyway, happy birthday to Garr—my favorite wolf in Eiyuden and my very first favorite character.
