Discussion & Info Why do people say int is easy mode?

I just finished my first int play through of the base game with no summons. I’ve beaten this game plenty of times before and I’ll say that bleed or just straight up claymore was way easier than finding spell openings and keeping my mind and int high enough to deal damage without having any stamina. Just curious if people actually think sorceries are overpowered unless you use game breaking exploits that every class has their own version of.

Edit: ok I figured it out, int is overpowered but i unfortunately forgot to level my real life int stat so for me its still balanced

Discussion & Info Torch >>>>> Lantern

Cast a lot more light and just looks way cooler exploring at night. 500% more adventurous

Lantern is forwhen you really need both hands free to dual wield or to use weapon + spells. For general exploring? Off hand torch 100% is funner.

Just honestly at a loss right now. What was that? It’s like he started to perform his whirlwind attack but then canceled it after it killed me. I’ve never seen that move before.

Constructive Criticism jesus ezykes is so janky hes actively insufferable to fight

the video shows it so well:

-constant teleporting cus his range is way too smal for his flying.
-constantly getting stuck on geometry cus the level is not designed for a drake.
-the getting stuck messing up animations, attacks, telegraphs etc.
-the getting stuck letting him spam breaths with no recourse
-his slightly larger model causing hitbox jank especially on the head.

and i say that as someone that likes the drakes (even borealis)

(lets see if you guys can take criticism this time or if the sub will be dogmatic like it is so often)

Edit: please adress the critcism instead of saying "just free aim, just hit the legs, just kite with torrent" regardles of if its good advise (it isnt ask anyone whose very experienced at the game) it has nothing to do with the point wich is criticising the jank.

Constructive Criticism So smol shields got no love huh

Post image

Small shields are now worse than medium shields in every way. They had lower damage reduction, lower stability, and lower deflection, but now they also offer no frame advantage on parries whatsoever. Did get a whole 2 frames off recovery tho. (imperceptible)

Discussion & Info Miquella is meant to be OUR foil, The Player's Foil.

Pretty much what I said. But Miquella especially is meant to be a foil to The Player specifically I believe.

The Tarnished is a force of focus, determination, and sheer will. We, as the Tarnished, die over and over. We experience major setbacks. Sometimes we die twice and lose many thousands of runes, some even lose millions.

And yet we do not let it dissuade us. We may take a break. But we return, and keep going at it again and again until we succeed. We retry bosses over and over until we succeed. We try new things. But our goals remain the same. We persevere in our goals.

Where as Miquella.... is a quitter. He never sticks toward a goal. When he meets obstacles or failure, he abandons the goal in favor of something new.

When the Golden Order didn't cure his sister, he abandoned it.

When the eclipse took too long, he abandoned the people at Castle Sol and Godwyn.

When his needle failed to cure her sister fully, he abandoned her sister.

When his love got in the way, he abandoned his love.

He takes the easy way out. He never perseveres. And he is able to because of how powerful he is. And his gifts especially allow him to easily get what he wants. Where as we, as regular mortal Tarnished, have to do things the hard way.

His gift of Charm allows him to easily persuade any opponent, we must battle our opponents to move forward.

His divine power allows him to best most enemies. Every enemy is a threat to us.

He has the genius to divise contraptions and plans around his obstacles. We have no choice but to brute force our way through our enemies through the means available to us.

Of course this isn't perfect. No analysis is. But the point remains

Miquella is our foil because Miquella is a god who chose the easy way and never persevered in his endeavours, while we are mere mortals who had to claw and fight and scream our way to the position where we can fight him.

Ultimately the final battle is the poetic emblem of this dichotomy. Miquella is a god with immense power and all the advantages one could hope to have. But our relentless and unyielding resolve, determination, perseverance, and for some, the REAL genuine friendships we made (whether be with Ansbach and Thollier, or even with other Tarnished) is what allows us to best this quitter.

Discussion & Info Is this a good decision?

I've actually discovered that I much prefer faith to intelligence, but I need intelligence for the Golden Order enchantments, which are the ones I like, in addition to those of the erdtree.

I'm wondering if I need to set my intelligence to 50 or 60 to have good scaling in the enchantments of the Golden Order and the seal of the Golden Order.

I think I like this layout better, especially because of its endurance and mentality.

But what do you say?

Discussion & Info New player completely lost on what to do

So this is my first souls like game. I bought this game yesterday on the switch 2 and ever since then I’ve been addicted. I’ve put 5 hours into the game so far(which is in one session) and am level 13 I believe.

It’s not like I’m not having fun, cause I am. But I am lost as to what I’m supposed to be doing in this game. Right now, I’m just exploring, but whenever I do, I find enemies way above my current level and just get stuck and die repetitively. Maybe that’s just part of the game, but I’m wondering if someone could be help me out on whether I am playing this game correctly or doing something wrong. I am currently stuck on blood finger.

Any help would be appreciated

Edit: went south and figured it out! Thanks for all the help.

Discussion & Info Consort Radahn is easier than Malenia

Despite consort radahn being hyper aggressive, his light attacks on phase 2 killing the frames, and his hyperstance, he's still easier than Malenia.

Consort radahn has a more telegraphed attack, unlike Malenia's sudden slashes.

All of consort radahn's attacks are easier to dodge with and IS VERY dodgeable without ever needing to be paranoid about the distance between you and him on the get-go, unlike Malenia because of her waterfowl.

Lastly, Consort Radahn has more hp, but has no lifesteal.

What do you guys think?

Additionally, since his attacks are very telegraphed, he's much easier to be parried, and he's less of a nightmare for no hitters.

Discussion & Info Is it wrong that at this point in my game I've discovered that I don't like the arcane or sorcery?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I've actually been playing for a very long time, and I think these last few days, as you may have noticed from my posts here,I've been in a long state of denial, for the simple reason that I don't like sorceries.

I don't know how to describe that feeling, but I just don't like using it. They're not bad, but I feel like they're not the game feels I want.

As you may notice, I'm overly curious about the number of hours I've played in this game and the number of levels I have. I really don't like arcane and sorcery.I'm not saying I don't like intelligence because I really like the frozen altered state, and I've actually discovered that I really like the Golden Order's enchantments. The problem is that holy damage obviously isn't very good in this game.Is that irrelevant at my level, or do I necessarily have to choose a different type of enchantment? Definitely not one from the Dragon Communion.

Game Help Are the tarnished edition weapons good enough to get through the base game?

I’m tempted to use the new classes, but I also don’t want to ditch the idus sword or hefty scimitar in the late game.
