CLOSED Remote operating controller for DAF flatbed vehicle transport truck. It has the designation TREND RTX V1 Rev.3, Sistematica S.p.A. Need help locating issue as to why it stopped working

Truck operations remote control took a hit and stopped working. I can't see any physical, apparent damage

A customer ran over(!) the remote control i use for operating the winch, extending flatbed, etc on my vehicle transport truck.

It is a rugged outdoors remote and doesnt have any apparent damage, but it doesn't work now.

I tried doing the basics; checking everything visually, measuring power/batteries, contact points etc. but to no effect

It seems to be dead. No green indicator light when pressing "Start" etc.

Can anyone see something i dont?

Any suggestions or help appreciated

I suspect a knocked component or cracked solder joints. But, like the other poster stated, you could have cracked internal layers on the PCB. RIP.

But, start with a slow visual inspection of every inch and every component with a magnifying glass and plenty of light; look for anything that stands out or looks different. Do it again anyway.

How does it communicate? Wired? IR? Radio?

With batteries installed, verify that power is reaching the critical components, especially during button presses. Does the MCU have a clock? The oscillator might be damaged and nothing will run if thats the case.

Put an AM radio near the circuit board and try pressing buttons. You should hear signs of life - buzzes, digital pulses, beeps, etc....

You may need an oscilloscope for more advanced diagnostics.

Thank you for responding.

Ill do another inspection, but my ability to spot faults or measure such micro-components are very limited. So we may be looking at replacing the remote then
.
Ill contact the only supplier i know of here in Norway too see what kind of service they can provide, and the option of a replacement unit

If it's ran over it can be anything/ multiple things.

Even broken internal leads.

You can try power it and look at it with a thermal camera.

Though if it's dead, it's going to be much harder to figure it out.

Yes, but my thought was that the internals couldnt have taken too hard a hit, as it is practically unharmed exterior-wise, So the impact didnt reach the interior/circuitboard.

Clearly, something IS broken, as it s now not working anymore. But i have studied the circuit board/internals with a magnifying lamp, and taken high-res photos. Nothing looks broken on the circuit board or any of the components on it.

My second thought was the six-pin socket could have had a connector on it, that has come loose and been lost..? Is it "common" that those sort of soclets have a removeable connector-top on it..?

The chips have tiny circuits in them. They can be broken.

That 6 pin socket can be for manufacturing, service or QC purposes.

Appreciate the insight.

It seems there could be micro-fractures or something along those lines then, which is impossible for me to detect. I dont have the equipment or knowledge to delve further into this im afraid.

That's the safest option.

Even if you get it working again, there is no guarantee it will last. There is a high risk multiple components are compromised.

Yes it's a rugged design, though mostly for dealing with dropping it from a certain height on like a wet street.

Yep, sometimes it can repaired with common means, sometimes it cant.
Worth a try.
Thx again

Hola.

You thinking about this? They dont seem broken to me...
They just have loose covers on top that slides off

Pues es que se me parece a este tipo de pulsador pero te faltaría el eje.

I dont think this is the issue. There are 4 of those pictured components, and nonoe seems damaged and they all have slide-covers on top, and doesnt seem to have any apparent function... i know there are a few remote types that utilise the same foundation, so this might be non-functional in this particular model...?
