The 'Operations' update to Coriolis.io has been in the works now for a few weeks and has been available on the alpha site during that time, but I'm happy to announce, it is now live! As always, any issues, problems, or errors, please report them in the discord, or open an issue on github.

Too perfect to improve? First Image is DLSS5.
Idk if something is wrong with my config, but all i see is minor lighting improvements for -30% performance.
Sorry if this is not allowed.

I am really looking forward to the Rhino! Anyone else?
I explore a lot and adding it to the Caspian sounds great. A nice gameplay loop when there aren’t any BIO signs to look for. Really looking forward to testing it! Any idea what time we can buy it tomorrow?

It's the one you've been waiting for! Following previous videos featuring vehicles such as the Mandalay and the Panther Clipper, here is my full flight test of the new Rhino SRV.
Note use of rear spoiler for maximum aerodynamic efficiency!
P.S. for those that enjoyed this and would like to see the others in the series:

I watch right now opening scene of The Martian again and I realise how much I miss real atmospheric details like faint clouds in the sky, and dust swirling with winds and storms.
I remember that on the first days of Odyssey we had dust devils at least. Can't remember when I saw them the last time?

The way everyone on this sub and everyone I know speak about combat, it seems like a really easy thing to come across and engage in but I havent even seen combat, let alone actually gotten into a fight with another ship so is it actually as common as I though it was?
r/EliteDangerous • u/probablysoda • 21h ago
I’ve heard that the scout is better, but other sources recommend the explorer, although im well aware of its reputation as the exploder. Im on console so no mandalay and that ship is much too expensive for me right now anyway. Engineering as also prlly off the table as i dont think i have any of that available yet. So, what do you recommend? Thanks!

Someone smarter than me please help. I’m a new player (10 hours at this point) yesterday I did a bunch of salvage missions, they were great. Made some credits, upgraded my ship, had an awesome time. Today, I jump back in, pick up 4-5 salvage missions, ready for a lightning round. I reach the first spot and see headlights running around, awesome, genuinely, I was hoping there’d actually be some opposition. I part a few hundred meters away and run in with my pistol, wanting to see if I can john wick this shit. And the enemies just don’t stop coming. I drop one, two, three, FIVE. I ended up flatlining 9 guys before I get sniped and I’m kinda upset about it, it seems like total overkill.
Alright, that’s fine, we only have a pistol, we gotta play this smart, not fast. We hop back in the ship, go to the next mission, and there’s ANOTHER group of people. Fine, fine, two in a row after 7 boring missions the previous day seems like some pretty bad luck, but we already have our new plan. I park the ship much closer, to take advantage of its shields and resuplly, and I start taking potshots over the hills, I drop one, two, thr- and I get one shot by a sniper I didn’t even know existed.
Alright, this is frustrating now… but fine. Fine. We aren’t ready for foot combat. We’ll do some breezy courier missions, get a couple creds, get a rifle, upgrade our pistol to grade 2, it’ll be great, we’ll hit the dirt ready to throw down.
So again. Hop in the ship. Grab 2 courier missions. Land at the outpost. Sprint over to the lady. And the entire base descends upon me with every fricken gun they have. I die. Painfully. Violently. Wondering what the hell I even did.
One crashout later.
Okay. FINE. FINE. I must’ve missed a guard who was scanning me or something I dunno I was speedrunning screw you too background guard #7295637. Just let me back into the game so I can go back to having fun.
And now I’m in Alpha Centauri. In a fucking jail. 17 jumps from where I started… and questioning whether to just cut my losses and quit.
I’m sorry if this post seems whiney, or angry (it is) I’m just… I’m having a bad day

- Do not attempt Hard-difficulty operations if your ship isn't enginered completely or it isn't a combat ship
- Good start is python MK II or Corsair for meduim, Kestrel MK II for small ship, any large ship (Corvette is better). they are cheap in enginering and not very expensive in credits and have best money/value rate, and also u can find tons of fits for themon the web.
- Do not attempt hard difficulty operations if you dont have enough combat experience.
- Do not start an operation if the team isn't full (hello lobby leaders with 2 medium ships on hard dfficulty <3) in case if you are playing with a friend, just close the lobby while u are waiting for him/her/they/them/tesco bag/rock.... to join - this applies to all dififculties and missions.
- Gameplay is smoother and easies for everyone if the team includes 1–2 corvettes or cutters (corvettes better because of higher fire rate power), 1 small ship and 1-2 medium ship , like tank, dd and support role in any moba game. and than operation can be completed much faster this way compared to using four small ships. and u can play 4-6 games in 1 hour (if u have good ships at least) each mission on hard gives you 25-30 5-th grade + 4-th grade materials for enginers. way better that nothing or 1 mission in 1 hour, right?)
- Use premium ammunition, the resources to craft them (like nickel, iron ect.) are refunded after the operation ends, so you lose nothing.
- controll your speed in fight, try to flank, and dont forget to check the map for enemes and be closer to ur team so you can help each other.
- make sure what u are using proper ship for this (ive seen people on diamond explorer on hard, that was funny, and... you know... :D)
- peer-2-peer lobbies, it means what instance holder is first who jumped to terminal or any mission instance, so if u have bad internet connection- dont go there first, u can make game worse to everyone. same happens if in instance only 1 ship is left - that commander automatically becomes as instance holder..
- prepare your loadouts and stick together on onfoot missions.
- choose team leader and follow his targets (usally it's lobby leader or heavy ships commander), kill them and help each other with dangerous threats.
hope it was helpfull for someone! thanks for reading guys. if you have something to add here - u are welcome!)
Fly safe! o7
P.S. Sorry for my grammar Commanders! English is my 3rd languare.

Seriously though, for every player that plays 1k or more hours how many actual Earth Like Planets(ELP) have you actually found?! I have ventured out to the black several times but this gaming session I went out to colonia as my furthest ever. Is that what it takes, for ever 2 weeks out in the void 1 ELP?

Hi all, been playing off an on since kickstarter days... stopped playing around 2018 and just came back about a month ago. I know it's a huge gap but man it sure seems like the fun was the Thargoid war and now it's all just kinda... over? I'm having a blast still with the new stuff but man I hope they do something like that so I can experience it!

So, in the undermining section of PP there is "Commit Crime" activity. Is this just ANY activity that would produce a fine or bounty on you? Enemy undermine system, just do anything? Go to res site, attack every miner and fight off internal security forces? Gain a bunch of bounty and notoriety but also merits and undermine progress? Is there a potential for anarchy systems to do this, or would that not be considered crime?
tl;dr
PP Commit Great Crime

Last week, the prominent voice actor Peter Cullen has passed away. Known most for his role as Optimus Prime, he's also voiced notable characters, such as Eeyore from "Winnie the Pooh", Monterey Jack from "Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers", the Predator, and Thaedus from "Invincible".
I'd like to do a send-off to Peter on the day of his funeral, a "twenty-one gun salute" kind of thing to recognize his contributions to modern media. Well, I would have liked to do it at Sol, the system can't be accessed without permits for entry. So, instead, in reference to his greatest known role as Optimus Prime, I'd like to have it where G1 Cybertron is listed at bein in Alpha Centauri.
So, the date is this upcoming September 9th (not sure about the time, yet). The place will be at Alpha Centauri's primary sun.
I'll be going regardless if alone or with others. This will be my small contribution to recognizing Peter Cullen's work who's influenced so much of my childhood.

Hi so probably get this a lot.
I'm a returning player looking to get into super deep space exploration, however I really want to be able to bring a friend a long and I'm wondering what the best ships would be to allow for not only a ground vehicle bay but a fighter bay so we can fly around in the Nomad some times.
Anyway, which ships do you recommend? And do you have build recommendations?

I recently found out about the ED RPG while looking for picture books featuring Elite (spoiler, there really aren’t any) and ordered the complete collection, including the Battlecards on a whim. I did get a link to download the RPG PDFs right away, but never got the link to download the rule book for the card game. My emails to the company returned as undeliverable.
Despite this, I am extremely impressed with the quality of these games. The writing is excellent, the rules set is comprehensive and I’d put it up there with many of the best RPG games I’ve owned over the last 45 years.
Of course I will never actually play it but it’s great for lore and atmosphere.
I did have a go at the card game with my grandkids. They are young enough to have sponge-like brains and can pick up the minutia of the different cards way better than I can and they seem to enjoy it.
I was very surprised with the quality of the cards and the artwork, and again the comprehensiveness of the rules. These guys seem like real pros.
Which makes me wonder what happened to them? I would like to get the card game rules PDF but I can’t reach them.

I haven't played in a long while and I was wondering if there were new global events with interesting POIs.
The most immersed and entertained I've ever been with the game was during thargoid war with the proteus wave, the maelstrom/stargoid investigation, and then exploring the captured systems with titans and damaged stations.
