Mods Recommended Mods (2026) [Megathread]

Hi all,

This is going to be the only thread that will talk about mods from now on. In the future, posts about asking recommended mods will be deleted. I listed some of my recommended mods I've used before and can recommend. I have a lot more that I haven't listed here, I just wanted this post quickly out. If you have anything else to add, leave a comment with a link and I'll try to update this list every once a while.

  • Use Steam Workshop whenever possible.
  • For mods outside the Workshop, use official author pages (ProMods, SCS Forums).

Question Helping out son figuring game out

Hello all!

My son’s birthday is coming up and I asked him what he wanted as a present from his friends. He wanted a videogame, but I told him that besides Minecraft he doesn’t really play anything else. So he was looking around for a game with ā€˜pre-made roads and gps’ (he loves gps!) and he saw this game. I tried to persuade him to pick something else as it seemed to be too realistic (plus light management with buying a truck and such). He persisted. I saw a demo on Steam so I downloaded it to convince him it’s not up his alley.

Big mistake: he loves it. Tongue out of mouth in concentration, a few accidents because his turns are too sharp, loves driving Scania (he dislikes Mercedes). Steam had it on sale for €5 so I just bought it and his friends will give money so he can buy extra maps. He only has half an hour a day to play (more in the weekend) so he doesn’t play regularly.

While playing, he somehow took the wrong side of the road and ended up getting stuck. I wasn’t fully following the game so I didn’t know he had to call assistance, so he quit the task, resulting in a heavy fine and had to take a loan. He was bummed.

I really don’t get the appeal. Then again, I like spreadsheet games. I saw disappointment because of the fine, so when he went to sleep, I did some quick assignments to help him pay off the loan. I can’t do driver academy because he would see I played his game, so it was a bit tricky.

I did a couple of routes, bumped into another truck, hit a bridge (I was looking at my keyboard),… anyway, I’m starting to see the fun of it.

Anyway, my question: he plays through Steamdeck (no pc, doesn’t work on Mac). I saw the sticky thread about mods which include Scania liveries (or are they trucks?). I did a quick search on the workshop and saw some stuff like ā€˜real gasstations’ and a heads up display. I think he would very much enjoy those two.

Do any of you know the mods I’m talking about? I don’t want to activate them and screw up his game.

I also read that when you start, you better take a loan, buy a truck, hire someone for passive income. Is this true? Because of his limited screentime, getting money to pay off a loan seems hard? Can someone give me some pointers?

He ā€˜discovered’ something, like a bridge in The Netherlands. Can you push a button to look at the discovery? Or is it just a text? Because it would be fun to leisurely take a look at the bridge.

Sorry for the long post, I’m trying to help my son out and I’m a bit lost in all of this since it’s not my cup of tea at all. Ant help would be greatly appreciated!

Help Beginner wheel and rig

I'm 43, not really a gamer. Have a pc.

I've known this game long but never actually tried it.

I like games the like of point and click adventures, old school better, and the likes of tomb raider and assassin creed.

So essentially I don't like multilayer.

2 days ago I noted ets2 has a demo and I tried it.

Man I love it.

But steering with keyboard or mouse is ruining it.

Here's the catch: I have adhd, which means this game can end up like everything else, a big initial focus and then forget.

For this reason I'm asking for advice on a used wheel and pedals that I can get cheap and if the game sticks with me, upgrade to something else.

Bonus if I can use the wheel for other games like need for speed.

Thanks all!

Help Which real companies mod should I use in a map combo?

I got a pretty big map combo. Real companies & Gas Stations mod doesn`t bring back, for example, McDonalds in ProMods. But as far as I know, Promods companies mod has less compatibility with other maps and these mods arent compatible with each other. What should I do?

Help Steering wheel without using pedals

Hello everyone! I wanted to ask for an information. My wife plays ETS2 with mouse and keyboard. She would like to get a steering wheel to play, but she saw that practically all steering wheels also have matching pedals. My wife can't use her feet, and she was wondering: is it possible to set the controls to accelerate and brake with two buttons on the steering wheel? Or, conversely, if you have a steering wheel, is it mandatory to use pedals?

Mods Is there a working mod that changes the season to autumn?

I play ET2 on Steam and would like to install a mod that changes the in-game season to autumn. I've tried several mods that have the word "autumn/fall" in their name, but the most all of them do is change the sunlight into either purple or pink. It doesn't look natural, plus the trees are still very green.

Is there a mod that changes nature and the overall world into looking more autumn-ish? Thank you in advance :)

For example, if I don't want to get tickets if my lights are turned on during daytime but don't want to enable full cheat mode. I'm looking for a mod or workaround or something. Can someone help?

Question Is there a way to automatically cap the speed at a set amount?

I know there is this thing that stops me at 90 km/h but I want to customise it. Is there a mod or a workaround or did I just miss a setting?

Question Which DLC’s or mods to download as a newbie

I recently downloaded the game because I wanted to play a relaxed game and i’ve played this like 10 years ago. But I read alot of things about mods and I saw that there were 100+ dlc’s, so which mods and dlc’s are like a must have?
I also signed up for the ETS2 online mode becaude it looked like fun but the first server I joined I got blocked by 2 trucks right before I was able to deliver the cargo… they demanded money but i was able to get myself out and deliver the cargo. So that was a bad experience. So what is TruckersMP like?

A new law now allows LZV (double full length trailers) to drive in the netherlands, any chance the devs will add them as storage to the netherlands? šŸ«£šŸ™

Discussion Career end?

Hello everyone,

At what point do you guys consider a career, or a save file, to be "finished" for you? Or, better yet, do you even consider one to ever be done?

I, for one, have been playing on my save for around 7 years (on and off, around 500 total hours, mostly single player but a little bit on TruckersMP as well) and don't plan on starting another anytime soon. I have 27 big garages, 135 trucks, each with drivers, so money isn't the objective anymore. My most driven truck and my personal favorite is the DAF XF Euro 6. I'm not exactly a completionist either, so I don't strive for 100% map completion, with all garages bought and filled with trucks and employees. I just enjoy driving from here to there, explore new DLC's when I get them and sometimes play with friends. I am attached to the save file so a new one is out of the question.

So, again, what are your guys' end goals and when do you retire a save file? Bonus points if you tell me what you achieved on your most played one, I'm really curious.

Mods why so many retro american trucks but no retro european trucks on the steam workshop

on the steam workshop in the trucks section there is a ton of retro american or otherwise non european trucks like kenworths and macks. but there is a lack of actual european trucks for these decades (80s-90s). most mods there add stuff from the late 90s at best (like the rjl 4 series). how come we dont have some of the most popular retro trucks like the scania 143, the volvo fh12 and the daf f241 easily available via the workshop but we have a ton of trucks that didnt even work in europe
