My Elcan 1.5-6 just came in the mail and I wanted to post pictures for anyone curious about how the Cerakoted FDE 2024 models looked on a Scar 17s. Online they look much more yellow than they do in person. I think it matches the gun pretty well and looks awesome. The choice of optic was mostly aesthetic and I think it worked out well. Plus, I wanted a Raytheon product I could call my own. I’m looking forward to taking it out to the range ASAP and will report back.

This is my first battle rifle and, as I’m sure most of you are aware, it’s definitely a pig. It’s mostly stock besides a Geissele trigger and the rail elimination panels from PMM. Once my 13” barrel comes in it’ll be done… however a 10.5” Metal Gear Solid 4 clone may be in the cards!

I’d love a recommendation for a piggybacked optic.

Have some free time labor day, and I wanted to take my scar 20s to a range, but they require a brass catcher. Recommendations that aren't the 250 dollar Tactical Brass Recovery? Just doesn't seem worth it IMO, and also I wouldn't have it in time. Any ideas on which Amazon universal ones might work?

I don’t see any markings so not sure if this is the older style Scar 20S one from before they changed the barrel to 1-10 twist without the step cut. Any idea what the settings are and whether this can work sufficiently well with a high backpressure can like the Dead Air Sandman S? Thank you.

I am having an impossible time taking off these two bolts from the scar. Does anyone have any experience loosening these. they are drowning in PB blast.

Where else do you guys find old outdated optics?

Took my factory side rails off the other night and tbh, I love the feel. I've bought pmm and know they're a great product. Are these rail deletes lighter or atleast the same weight. A more ideal solution I'd prefer is does anyone sell a screw set to just fill the holes and sit flush?

Probably going to run a surefire for now on my 15p 556. I see some saying to use a muzzle brake as acts like a sacrificial baffle. Does it really matter that much or should I just use a 3 prong?

As the title states I have been trying to hunt down the PMM rail extension for my scar but can't find a good lead, what's the best place to find one? Not trying to violate rule 1. Just trying to get a lead on the best place with the highest probability of having one through a vendor?

I was aiming for the rail but I'd take the mlok extension at this point lol.

I am strongly considering to purchase a SCAR pistol in 300 blackout. wanted to know your thoughts on the platform in this caliber. The only thing holding me back are all the complaints about how damn near impossible it is to remove the stock muzzle device. I would ideally want to suppress this gun with a flow through can for home defense.

Seems like everyone hates Promag, but I’m looking forward to having some cool training mags. For anyone curious, the Promag baseplate is pretty close to OEM. I got some OEM ranger tabs (black was the only color in stock) for ~$5/ea, marked the baseplates at the locations shown, drilled 1/8” holes, and used a 3/8” #4 thread-forming panhead screw to attach the ranger tab.

I taped off the mag and ranger tab and sprayed them with 2 coats of Brownells Aluma-hyde II in the Magpul FDE flavor. The color is pretty close to the OEM mag, haven’t looked at it in daylight yet but I’ll probably post a picture of it with my 17 when it finishes curing.

I got the 300blk three prong off! I soaked it in Kroil overnight, threw it in a vise, wrapped it in a wet towel and used a heat gun to steam it, and just used some caveman strength to wrench it off. Marred the bottom rail a tiny bit but nothing that should affect function. Hope this method works for others trying to get this bastard off.

I have a scar20 and I’m looking at getting a suppressor for it. Are there changes or upgrades I should make first before suppressing it? I have heard that the gas needs to be adjusted some? Any recommendations or where to start with that?

What scopes are you running on your 6.5 SCARS? Got this Athlon 4-20 as a starter scope but want to upgrade as I get better shooting at range

What are you all using for range plinking ammo? I had some 5.56 Winchester 62 grain SP that worked great but I want to save what I have.

Most shooting will be inside 100. My SCAR is SBRed and has a Discarder so I can tune if need be.

Specifically, looking at bulk purchases.

Haven't gotten to test the mags yet but they seem solid. For anyone that wants to get close to the original color, Rapco Field Drab is really close. One on the right is an FN mag.

I’m 100% sure this won’t be till next year at the very earliest but has anyone heard if Mototech or KNS is working on a piston for the Gen2s yet?

I swapped a geissele trigger into this new g2 and threw on a VLTOR rear stock and got a Leupold Mk5 2-10 ordered this weekend but that’s it so far.

Was thinking about trying a set of KAC front and rear irons on it just to try something different also.

Hi everyone. I've never done a sling setup before. I purchased an ESD standard two-point. Based on current hardware, it looks like I'll want to use an HK hook at the rear. Not sure about the front though. In second image, am I looking at a QD swivel mount by the front iron sight or is that something totally different? Is it best to go with an MLOk attachment? Thanks!

Anyone know where to source Gen 1 17s 6.5 Creedmor HP bolts and firing pin? Considering switching over to 6.5 and my understanding is that you need a new barrel assembly, as well as a HP bolt and firing pin, nothing else. The only place I could find was Midwest Gunworks, but that seems eternally sold out. Just gauging to see if it's possible at this point to source parts. Thanks!
