Just Chatting Small teaser for future content

https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1044720/view/704403121118381227?l=english

There's been a small post on steam revealing some information about upcoming content.

v1.2 will get a more complete preview in a month or so. Trading post is being overhauled as part of the changes.

v1.3 should release early next year. More information sometime after 1.2 releases.

Expansion is going... swimmingly. Will contain new production lines, mechanics, resources and more. Has been mentioned previously it'll be a next year release.

Great news! What do you think "swimmingly" hints at?

Oh my god I would have loooved to have a coastal map with coastline fishing and trading !

Fishing boats, coastal maps, merchants that visit by ship, raiders that attack via boat, harvesting of resources from the sea (pearls, whale oil, crab).

Sounds really good, but also like a lot. Last dlc was fun, but way smaller in size so my expectations are lower

Yeah, the Cats and Dogs DLC was pretty bare bones. I really hope this new one is a proper size.

They've mentioned before that this DLC will be a proper expansion style DLC. Cats and dogs was always intended to be more of a small addition than a fully fledged DLC.

Maybe a port (I.e. new kind of trading post).

Water based mechanics? Boats?

Swimmingly…

My girlfriend watched me play for 2 minutes while I was doing a battle. She asked me why the raiders don’t just go across the water and I said they can’t it’s impossible and she just laughed. I felt offended

Haha, yeah I feel like im cheating when I just build a wall to the water. Like "theyll never figure out how to get around THIS!"

I think that very few overland raiders brought boats.   Even vikings usually left their boats behind once they hit land.

I just hope they are optimizing it so we can have towns bigger than 500. I don't even care about DLC or additions to what's already in the game, I just want it optimized.

I love the trading as it is now, it's always exciting to me when they come around so I can't wait to see what they do with it.

Might need to upgrade your computer.
1500 population isnt an issue.

Or lower graphics, if I low my graphics I go all the way to 2500 on my laptop

What settings would you recommend? I lowered everything I could think of but it was still choking at 2k, and even a bit at over 1k-1500.

I have 64gb RAM, a GeForce RTX 4060Ti card and a Ryzen 7 5700X3D processor. Married to a computer guy who keeps it up to date and in good shape.

Resolution, detail, and keep game speed at 2x and I don't play with mods. Also this is not a ram intensive game, I used to play with 16gb, after I put 32gb it runs about the same, both 3200MHz. Of course, don't care much about graphics.

My fan stops working as hard when I remove the foliage. It’s a lot easier to see in the undeveloped areas too so that a nice side benefit. I can run up to 2500 people with no problem. (G5 Dell laptop - I think)

Oh interesting - I will have to try that. I started a new village and capped it at 1500 and so far so good, but I'd love to go unlimited again lol

I have 64GB RAM, GeForce RTX 4060Ti card and Ryzen 7 5700X3D processor and am married to a computer guy who keeps it in good shape so I'm not sure if it's my computer. I mean it's not the BEST but it's a solid gaming computer that handles big games like Planet Zoo and Cities Skylines just fine. He watched me play for a bit and said it shouldn't be so glitchy at a high population/big map size like that. We have played AOE for years and he's played Onno and some other similar games and none of them do that. I'm not that worried about it but it would just be nice if it was a little smoother.

Isn't the 500 limit a setting that you can change?  Or is 1000 the default?

1

u/Wayfaringbutterfly 6d ago

Yes - you can have 500, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500 or unlimited. But once I get past about 1500, it's pretty glitchy. And for those with computers not quite as good as mine, running things optimally above 500 or 1000 can be difficult.

Looks like a mini parks maintenance building or something.... Lots of rakes, spades, digging tools etc. with a load of wheelbarrows. Also loving the big sunflower! is the building behind it the storehouse? Can't quite tell

2

u/Kholdy13 10d ago

My guess is the building is either a redesign of the trading post, or a supplemental trading building. Given that's the bit of information they revealed. Building behind it looks like a new storage building; maybe a trade specific building to store resources you want to be available for the trading post? Would make it easier to get things stocked.

A smaller stockyard would be a welcome addition! I like the small warehouse building for outposts and letting my laborers transfer goods to the town. It would be so nice to have a smaller stockyard for mines too.

I hope the swimmingly is a hint at something to do with water!

I think the thing I want most is a clash of clans raiding simulator so I can use my armies offensively
