The OG Gucci Diana bag that shes carrying in slide 6 is the first bag i remember being obsessed with - i was very small and thought it was such a cool bag (I really liked the handles which I hadn't seen anywhere else)
IMO this vintage one is so much better than the current rereleased one. Now that I'm making big girl money I bought the vintage version for a song just befoe the rerelease and in the taupe colour so that it would match hers!

I was almost 12 when she died and remember how everyone was just so downbeat, us Brits don't agree on much but the vast majority of the British public absolutely loved her
Months later I would be in a Woolworths in North London and saw a book on the shelf called "The Prince Charles Guide to a Good Marriage" and when you opened it, it was completely blank lol

I love Diana and am in no way defending the way the establishment and Charles treated her, but I would nuance her parenting of her sons. She became a mother very young, was very lonely, and therefore relied on William emotionally quite a bit in a way that was inappropriate to place on your own son.

I was in my late teens and my boyfriend and I had just gone to a pub after being at the Royal Adelaide Show. I saw it on one of the tvs and then kept watching the coverage when we got home. I cried through watching the funeral a few weeks later. She died far too soon. š

London Heathrow has too iconic of a name to ever change it.
London Gatwick, not as iconic, still has a popular name.
Stansted? Luton? They donāt have very premium or prestigious airlines flying out of them.
If Belfastās airports were ever renamed for Camilla, Troubles 2.0 would ignite.
Liverpool already has John Lennon in its name.
Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Birmingham, Southampton, Cardiff, Newcastle, Leeds, Bristol, East Midlands and Exeter already just have their nearest cities in their names.
The only option would be London City whichā¦. we could pick a far more likeable British icon to name that airport after. Maybe Sir David Attenborough would probably object to having his name be attached to a high emissions airport in Canary Wharf but what about, Princess Diana, George Michael, Freddie Mercury etc.

As a nice contrast to your partying, I was also 17 and I worked on the cig counter at my local Co-op due to start my Sunday shift. My clock radio served as an alarm, it came on to the news where it was of course being relayed that she'd died. One of the jobs on opening up was to get all the day's papers unpacked and out on the shelves and I remember somebody hastily setting up a little table with a tablecloth and a photocopied photo of her and some of the day's front covers as a display/tribute.
I wasn't particularly a fan but it was a weird and very moving day and with working, as the news hit and all the details started coming out, it was interesting to see people's reactions and clear shock on faces as they came into the shop after church and throughout the day. Definitely one of those moments in history you don't forget where you were and what you were doing.

I was in college when she passed and I remember watching her funeral with one of my roommates and bawling. She was such an inspiration to me. I never fit anywhere and neither did my beliefs/leanings. I wanted to be brave and beautiful like her, and kind like her to people who really, really deserved kindness and love and understanding in their life.
One of my favorite things about her is she never quite learned to pull a poker face. Her mouth and eyes betrayed how bemused she was at something, or cynical, or how completely fucking over it she was or found something absolutely ridiculous.
I suspect she was a lot of fun and a good friend. I hope that at some point when she was finally able to live some semblance of her own life that she was finally happy. I hope she stopped feeling like she had to apologize for who she was. I got married way too young to please and appease people and lost quite a chunk of my early adulthood to it and a man that was not worth the price of admission nor what he was advertising himself to be. Itās a shit feeling and I hope afterwards she was able to feel the same relief and freedom and possibility that I did, however short a time she wound up having to enjoy it.
I canāt believe Iām older now than she was when she died. It seems so unfair.

Her death should have been the end of paps being allowed to chase people around like they do.* Ofc it shouldāve never happened in the first place but the fact they didnāt do anything to change anything after just shows how much of a chummy relationship the royal family and govt have with the media. If they had wanted to, her death wouldāve been more than enough of a reason.
I donāt blame Harry for taking every opportunity he can to sue their arses.
(*I know ātheyā put the onus for the crash on the driver drinking but the paps chasing them on bikes mustāve had an impact.)

I very distinctly remember her dying because we had gone to stay in a hotel for a few days for some reason and my mom came down from the room when we were in the pool to tell everyone. All the adults were absolutely shocked and I had no idea what was going on but I knew it was a big deal.

I still remember my mom picking up the newspaper in the morning, seeing the headline, and looking like she was about to fall apart. She said "I'll deal with this later" pulled it together and got us to school, but I never saw her look like that devastated at any other point in her life. I think I still remember it because its the only time I saw her shook like that.

Forgive me, and call me an asshole but however wonderful Princess Diana was, the lore of her excellence significantly outweighs and overshadows the ways I. Which she consciously or unconsciously created spaces where she was her own worst enemy, mostly due to her youth, naĆÆvetĆ©, inexperience and mental health issues. Diana wasnāt a saint, and we should stop treating her as such. She was certainly a woman scorned by a cheating spouse but itās beyond obvious that she was ushered into a loveless marriage with blinders on and made decisions to handle issues in a public but not public way for her own benefit.

Iām Indian and my mom, my mother in law, and I suspect many other diaspora immigrant mothers LOVED her. I think her story of being married young, a husband that didnāt really love her, a seemingly horrific mother in law, trying to mold herself to fit into a new family, was one that really felt so relatable to Indian women. I mean it basically is the story most arranged marriage first gen immigrant moms had. I think they really saw themselves in her, and seeing someone of her stature, fame, and the fact she was white, made them feel really comforted, that they werenāt alone, that even princess di was facing the same issues.Ā

Man that is one of those events that you can recall exactly where you were at the moment. I can still remember sitting in my LV watching the TV as the ambulance was just parked there, as they worked on her. I couldn't understand why they weren't moving, rushing her to the hospital. Just thinking about it makes me cry.

As a kid, my grandma would always talk about Princess Di with admiration for her character and sense of fashion. I never quite understood it until way later and honestly, my grandma was absolutely right. We lived so far from England and arenāt English but thatās how much influence Princess Di had!

I remember watching Family Matters when the news broke. I was bummed, I loved princesses and she was always seen doing good things, yknow? I was six.
The day of her funeral, Disney's One Saturday morning was to first air, and it was obviously bumped for the funeral. It was then did I fully get the enormity of her magnitude outside of "princess who did nice things".
As a woman now, Diana was done so fucking dirty, and for what? It made me realize that neither wealth nor royalty nor power can shield you from those who only want to see you miserable, that there are truly some goddamn psychos out there. I'm far from a royalty stan but how they treat Meghan rhymes in the worst way. They just want to make her suffer for existing.
