Caught my PB walleye and goldeye today. Caught a total of somewhere around 7 or 8 goldeye and 3 walleye. Had to baby that walleye for a bit before she went off but she was released safely. 23.5 inch walleye, Goldeye was 17 inches

4.5 lbs walleye out of Murray lake.

Has anyone been to oldman reservoir? Ive been going out there with my boat and trolling having some luck with rainbows. Just wondering if anyone has caught anything other than rainbows out there and if so what were you using? Ive marked fish on the bottom of the lake in about 100' do you think its lake trout? Or big bulls? There's gotta be some monsters in there right? I met one guy that caught a burbot in there but no ones caught anything else

Hi all, semi new fisherman here so apologies for what might be a dumb question.

Years ago I ended up buying a Daiwa Revros Lt 2000 kit which came with a 6'6" UL rod. A co-worker/buddy of mine was agreeable to taking me fishing and showing me the ropes. Shortly after that I got busy with work and eventually switched jobs and my would-be mentor and I parted ways.

But I was digging in the garage a few months ago and uncovered my old rod, still unopened, as well as a few lures I had purchased and similarity never opened. I replaced the line that was on the reel, thinking a few winters of freeze/thaw probably wouldn't be good for whatever cheap line was on there before, and now I'm ready to go it alone.

I live in Edmonton not far from Gold Bar Park, and my current job isn't nearly as hectic so I can head over on a random evening a few times a week if I want.

The lures I had previously purchased were a six pack of Panther Martin spinners - three of which I've put in the little carrier that came with the rod and reel. In addition to the two jerkbaits and the Gibbs spoon, what else should I pick up?

I’m coming up from Saskatchewan next week for men’s national softball tournament, and one of the days we are done at 2:00-so I’d like to try and sneak an afternoon/evening in shore fishing.

Will be bringing my buddy who doesn’t fish, and his 2 boys (8, 11).

Looking to find somewhere near Nisku that would be a decent spot to set up on shore, cast out, put the rod in a holder, and drown some worms on pickerel rigs.

Any species is fine-but would prefer not to be pulling off dinks every 2 minutes-although if that’s all we find-I’m sure it’ll still be a success for the kids. (They’ve never been fishing at all)

Walleye, pike, sturgeon? any of these would be amazing.

(I will be bringing a beefier rod that I usually use for big pike up north, spooled with 50lb braid and a dedicated sturgeon rig I bought online. I will of course do my best to respect the fish, won’t lift it out of the water, and will not use inadequate gear for the size of those dinosaurs. Never caught one-would be an amazing bonus)

My limited research so far has suggested the Devon area might be good for this?

Other researchers I’d be better off going up into Edmonton-but I’d prefer to avoid the extra distance unless it’s absolutely better fishing in general there (I understand there’s NO guarantees anywhere)

Can anyone weigh in/elaborate on the area?

Any other nearish-to-Leduc areas I haven’t mentioned that you’d recommend?

No stocked trout ponds please.

Moved here from Manitoba 5 years ago and grew up fishing/hunting back home (Métis community) so not unfamiliar with fishing and the outdoors but am wanting to get back into casual fishing in Alberta. The Calgary area more specifically!

I've caught golden trout on a few trips now, but the colors never fail to amaze me. These two are about 12" from a backpack trip in the middle of August.

I’ve started fishing last summer and haven’t caught anything yet. This summer, still nothing. It just seems impossible to even know if there’s fish or not. I’ve tried fishing in the shores of Glenmore reservoir and I’ve gotten snagged there so many times (inline spinner) and this morning I went to the elbow river flowing into the reservoir, also nothing. Any recommendations on what to do or what lures to use? My friend that visited from BC told me that it took him 30 trips just to catch his first fish. Hope that doesn’t happen to me

My wife and I went fishing at Pigeon Lake on August 20th mid-afternoon. Launched from the Provincial Park launch and headed out to the dropoff. There were 3 boats out there when we got there so the drop was easy to find. Dropped anchor in 24 feet of water and fished a few minutes without a bite but I knew I was past the steepest part of the drop off so I left the anchor out and went back a few feet to get to the edge. The bite was good but I was surprised my first two I caught were pike. Went through a tub of minnows in about 2 hours. Only got one to fill a Class A tag (over 50cm)

But when we went to leave is when I caught the 10 pounder. I was pulling in the anchor and it was really stuck in the mud but a little extra effort I had it moving. When I got it to the boat is when I notice the tip of my anchor had caught on a 3/8" chain and farther down was an anchor. I ended up with the chain, anchor, rope and two jigs.

Bonus.

Best fishing day of my life so far. Extreme winds and rain caused a walleye to hit almost every cast! Caught about 10 pike and 15+ walleye, all similar size to photo. Shoutout to the redditors who helped me out from my last posts, the quest continues

I’m pretty new to fishing and I don’t know many spots and they aren’t close. I mostly shore fish but have an inflatable. I would really appreciate some advice!

I have a lot of experience saltwater and freshwater fishing. I visit Edmonton somewhat regularly and am wondering if there are some convenient lakes or rivers to shore fish from, particularly for perch. Up to about an hour away. Not thinking trophy fish, just places to catch fish on a regular basis. Thanks! Love the area btw
