Email Capture
So I’m a part of the freight crew and don’t often go to the registers, but I heard that my district manager was recently starting to enforce an expectation for the percentage amount of emails we have to get everyday. I just thought it was crazy because there’s no way my store is hitting the number she wants🤷 she’s actually seen customers yell at our cashier for several minutes over not wanting to put their emails in. Its also like I’m not going to ask some elderly person to type in an email especially since they still yell about not knowing how to use self check out even though every store in my city has it lol. Corporate removing the 10% and making it only for new customers really impacted us too because our regular customers were asking what the point is now and I just shrug and joke that the company is probably selling it to the highest bidder 😂

I love 5 below. I also work in retail. I’ll still put my email in to try and help even though I won’t receive the 10% off .

As a customer, I have stopped going as much because of the email thing. It holds up the lines and I have severe anxiety. Would telling corporate help at all?

An email from a customer will do more than when staff members give feedback about anything so thank you! i’m only a sales associate but my managers speak about feeling ignored when high ups are asking for weekly feedback. Corporate is heavily pushing email captures not realizing how it’s changing the inside of their stores and interactions with customers especially when we have them already complaining about other changes that are out of a stores control.

It’s not happening in my store but rather the region i’m in what i’ve heard is it’s not a direct firing more like employees are being written up for it and they will let you go for not meeting an expectation. With over 1,900 open stores there’s absolutely no way corporate has any idea what their district managers and store managers are doing.

The location I worked at would reduce your hours down to one day a week for three to four hours max if you weren’t getting emails. Despite some of the employees that were failing to get emails were some of the best and hardest working people. And how is anyone supposed to live off of that!? Some of my co workers only worked the one job!

I’ve been saying lately that it’s a competition between stores in our district or i just simply twist my screen around and say “let’s get that email so we can go ahead and get started on your transaction” 70% of the times customers will just type it in and i work at a ghetto store so 😭

It's crazy, I've started outright telling our customers that our hours are getting reduced based on emails and if that's not a policy they like, please for the love of all things holy, go to corporate because we're not being heard. Some of them are outraged on our behalf. 😈 Let corporate deal with the angry customers and pull an arms of an angel ad face is my answer to this nonsense. 🥺🥺
