Hey! I’m not an associate, but I love shopping at y’all’s store. I mainly go for the perfumes because they’re actually so good 😭. But I have a question about the 10% off thing that you guys are always asking customers about, especially when you’re talking about emails. What is it actually for?

I always hear associates saying their numbers are low, and I’m like… what does that even mean? 😭 What does getting people to sign up actually do for you guys? I’ve put in my email before, but I never even use the 10% off. I don’t really care about it because it’s Five Below, and I usually pay for my own stuff anyway, so please don’t come at me with the “you’re a teenager” thing 😭.

Like, are they actually going to fire you guys if you don’t get enough people to sign up? Because realistically, most of us probably aren’t even going to use the discount. If anyone wants mine, I can literally just give it to you.

My biggest question is: if someone already signed up with their email once, can they sign up again the next time they come in? Or are they already counted because they signed up before? Like, what happens if someone goes to Five Below one day, already gave their email, and then doesn’t want to give it again or can’t because they already signed up? How does that work? 😭

What are y’all saying to get people to enter their email sence the 10% change. My numbers are on the lower side and my manager let me know that they were told to start cutting hours on workers with low numbers. I personally don’t get why there expecting high numbers after taking our main selling point of the email, but i digress. Anything would be appreciated.

I feel bad for quitting cause my store needs more people to close but I’ve grown tired so should I just text or call my store manager and tell her I’m quitting or?

Today a child chose to vomit in the middle of the store, what did their parents do? Simply pick him up and leave the store. The support lead walked over with supplies to clean it up, but as he saw me walking near there he called me over and told me I had to clean it up. I asked him if this isnt a bio hazard that I need training for. He simply ignored me and said that since he’s a “manager” he tells me what to do. So I simply wore a face mask and gloves and proceeded to pick it up. This whole thing made me wonder, was he in the right to do this? Should I bring it up to my store manager or HR?

got this to do some slick back hairstyles and it worked pretty good, extremely waxy i wish it had some coconut oil or something like most slick sticks. my hair looked great BUT i washed it 3 times with shampoo and 2 times with dawn dish soap. its STILL very much in my hair lmao…i can feel so much of it still in strands of hair and on my hands😭😭

Hi! I recently started working at Five Below and my manager told me I have to get at least 50% in emails each day and I’m having a hard time doing so. What are some good ways to ask customers for their emails?

I’m so miserable here and don’t get paid enough for this. I’m a CEM.
I started off as a seasonal cashier almost 4 years ago and was PTSL for almost two years then the CEM for the past year…. I’m so exhausted. My DM sends our SM to other stores all the time she is Not a TSM. Our MM does barely anything and does it as slow as possible. He refuses to learn anything. I tell him things multiple times and he still never does it and will just say he doesn’t understand. Freight is always behind… we still have freight from last week and we never catch up. We have multiple cashiers call offs every week… I’ve been doing the Halloween set mostly by myself…. I’m doing all the hiring. I’ve been having to work on schedules . Alliance alarts. Observations. Training new hires… doing the store calls, recovery. And then my DM it’s just giving random busy work of whole plan I have to write because are emails aren’t good enough…. Are whole district is struggling and we are number 4 in ares. We are hitting over 30% everyday. I don’t know how I’m supposed to be the CEM, MM, SM at once.🤨

Genuinely HOW do you guys do beauty recovery? It’s like a maze every single time, and I don’t even understand why. I walked through the same aisle probably 4 times with the same two products, and didn’t find where it went until 20 minutes later. Anyone have any tips??

this is going to be a long post but I'm just venting about working at 5below and i was also just fired too. I need to let out this emotion and im currently looking for something better so wish me luck. so ive been working there for 2 years almost 3 years, first year, went ok. And since the beginning of my 2 year, its started getting worse. im an opener and when I need a time out or something happens, is honestly difficult getting someone to cover it and when I ask my boss to help and tell me who to go for, she doesn't, so im just struggling to do so and we dont have enough people to help open the store, we have plenty of closers tho. The dumplings, I f*cking hate those things, yeah they may be the best seller and we hit our goal for the day but come on man this is ridiculous, why the f*ck do people need to feel the need to yell at us when we run out of them or dont have the specific ones. Some of my boss get upset when i didn't finish my main task of putting products away but its fricking hard when u want me to also managing the front too. That line gets busy or a customer has a lot of things and i can't really go anywhere, why tf are u getting mad at me for doing my f*cking job that you hired me for. And im practically alone in the store, they're always hiding in the back doing whatever and its especially worse when 1 manger is a lunch break and the other one follows and stays with them, clocked in and not on a lunch break. And they get annoyed when i need them for returns or i need to use the restroom. Like sorry i need do some basic human needs, would u rather me pee on the floor? The email capture... why just why. 50% goal for emails. And nows its for new customers and not existing ones. Wtf, so unfair and i hate bugging people and i dont like the treatment that i get for just for asking. And i get in trouble from my boss of why is it low? Even before the email thing it was the questionnaire at the end after ur done purchasing. Some how im always the one to blame when its low when some people were not paying attention to it and just hit no and i get in trouble for it. Talking behind someone's back. My boss is usually the one who does it. She talks bad about some people. And I dont really agree with what she they say about them. I know damn well she was talking about me behind my back. I swear we try our best to like her but she doesn't do a really good job, makes me question how or why shes the sm. Late schedules, forgets about if u requested a day off, putting products in the wrong places, doesn't follow the plans, bad mouths about us employees and her own family, says shes there for us but makes you feel sh*tty for even asking for help. Makes you find someone to cover your shift even tho its her job to do it, tells u something extremely important last minute. If ur looking for a job, 5 below is not it at all, u get paid sh*tty and the people, theres some good but the rest ouch-

Is there a reason why some stores have vinyls and orders don’t? I’ve only seen them in one store in Houston.

So yesterday 2 different people came & returned dumplings that were either leaking or the bottom plug thing was coming unglued.

My store manager gave both a hard time, but ultimately processed the returns. She was visibly upset and had a attitude with the customers the whole time though.

I have never noticed her having a issue with doing returns or exchanges for anything else but the dumplings being returned yesterday really rubbed her the wrong way.

Just wondering do managers get in trouble or is there a new rule or something?

Around 1-2 months ago, I purchased two dumplings from Target and absolutely loved the way the water gel felt and the overall quality (clean out the packaging, no rips, printed face still in tact). Now, 2 days ago, I found 3 of the black basket RMS dumplings and straight out of the container they had pieces of plastic everywhere, the dumpling itself also felt super thin compared to the other ones from Target and not as full, and now the face rubbed off.

Has anyone else noticed the decline in quality?

So my five below store is a bit unorganized, some of the selves are empty, stuff in wrong places, and the floors unswept in the back. When I work it’s only me and one other cashier and management in the back. There’s no time to clean up the sections but I feel as though if we had one other person then they can fill up the shelves and stuff. I wonder when they have the time to actually do that. Shoot I would do it if I wasn’t told to stay up front but why don’t they have more people come in?

so i got hired but the process is taking a long time. is this normal? at first she lost my application but we found it and she sent me an acceptance email monday night but ive yet to get it. she told me it’ll take a few days but ive just never had such a long process before. how long does it usually take to get the acceptance email? i don’t wanna be annoying and call them i’ve just genuinely never encountered this before lmao

I’m visiting my bf and his 16yo daughter soon and would love to bring along some viral beauty and skincare goodies she can try (they don’t have anything like 5Below where they live).

she’s back to school in the coming weeks (junior yr!) so think: sleepovers, soccer trips, creating her own self-care nights, etc.

So I’m a part of the freight crew and don’t often go to the registers, but I heard that my district manager was recently starting to enforce an expectation for the percentage amount of emails we have to get everyday. I just thought it was crazy because there’s no way my store is hitting the number she wants🤷 she’s actually seen customers yell at our cashier for several minutes over not wanting to put their emails in. Its also like I’m not going to ask some elderly person to type in an email especially since they still yell about not knowing how to use self check out even though every store in my city has it lol. Corporate removing the 10% and making it only for new customers really impacted us too because our regular customers were asking what the point is now and I just shrug and joke that the company is probably selling it to the highest bidder 😂

I followed the advice given here and submitted an Open Door claim. I still have access to Legion. And confirmed with a peer that I am still active in WD as an SM. A week later, I can still see who is working tomorrow and can still get into manager view. If I wasn’t me, this would be a HUGE security violation. wtf do I have to do to get termed by this company?!
