Email capture
Hi! I recently started working at Five Below and my manager told me I have to get at least 50% in emails each day and I’m having a hard time doing so. What are some good ways to ask customers for their emails?

Dont beat yourself up if you don’t get 50% all the time. Its not realistic to meet the goal every single day, unless you cheat (don’t btw you will get in trouble)

I'm an ACO store, and I just say and have my team say "Make sure you put your email in to get started"

DO NOT DO THAT!!! Our store just fired 3 people for using their own emails.

I misread your comment. The way you said it, made it sound like you were telling your employees to start off by entering their emails 😂😂. I totally see you mean you have them SAY THAT to the customers. Omg 🤦 my bad hahaha.

Your manager is a loser that is manipulated by your lossr DM that has been manipulated into the position that everyone below them are losers. DM'S are pieces of shit that only care about their own paycheck.

If I were a shopper, I would figure/say "I have already given my email so I already get your emails".
I would give it because I know how it works for the employees. But if I didn't have that aspect.... Getting the ads is not even a reason for a repeat shopper.
They gotta at least have some stuff that's on sale but only if you give your email.

quite and find a better job, honestly, what they are doing, we technically. could all form a MAJOR lawsuit against the corporation. Cutting your hours down to unlivable/not existent is a form of retaliation and very illegal. I honestly have no clue HOW they are getting away with doing this. But if every employee, manager, asm, etc...who were sick of the shit, united and made a MASSIVE case, i guarantee you we could fuck up 5 Below. But most the management, from what I have gathered, is more then happy to comply with these outrageous and INSANELY toxic practices, cuz it's easier to KISS ass then stick up for your team.

Since we don’t do the 10% thing anymore, I try to be straight up with them. “If you enter your email it’ll send you information but it also helps the store out as well.” If they seem confused about the “helping the store out” part I elaborate and say something along the lines of “it makes the employees look good.” If they say no, they say no. I never push it past that. If they’re iffy about it, I play some pity cards to see what they decide. Usually I get 40-50% on emails total, but if you can secure opening shifts then the emails will basically be in your hands so you can mess around with the numbers. Tip for opening as well: the more emails you can get within the first 20 transactions, the easier the rest of the day will be. If you’re at 100% with the first 20, you should be at 50% by the end of the day. If not, you are hopefully neatly between 40-60%.
