Do people who are afraid of being tracked by flock cameras, leave their cell phones home so they won’t be tracked by them?

You can hate Ron DeSantis, you can believe he's just doing this for some political theater, you can believe he's trying to bury the $10 million misappropriated dollars story, you can believe anything you want.

BUT...

If you want mass surveillance to end, flock/axon/etc. cameras pulled down from our streets, Liberty to return to the people, you HAVE to support this piece of shit.

The truth of politics is this: generally speaking, politicians are selfish, crustaceous vermin who are always looking political upside in a movement. If it's there, they will absolutely join it. If this story gets pumped on social, other politicians will take note and join the movement so long as they think it means votes in their upcoming election.

Ron DeSantis is a huge name. If we can get 3 - 4 more big named politicians in on this movement, the momentum won't stop. Call your congressman/senators and let them know how important this is if they want your vote.

Flicking through a very old LIFE magazine and came across this advertisement . The “Light the Night” anti crime campaign from September 1968 feels like a precursor to Flock. Found it interesting. “As flock lights went on, crime went down”

Wing is starting to make drone deliveries. Besides surveillance pricing and collecting data. I couldn't find any info on if these have cameras/sensors or anything else that can be used to spy on people. Hope this is the right channel for this… but My question is whether or not we have experience something like this back then. And if yes how did we tackle the situation or did we never actually accomplish.

For example, things such as going againts the goverment on environmental rights have been done before. And it had been stopped by petitions and protests

Im huge on reading and both these event right now (flock cameras/burningbooks) definitely hits really close to 1984/farenheight451. Though in both books they did kinda show “how to fight back”. Thats when its already in a severe situation. (Ik 1984 didnt rlly accomplish much)

There is major consumer protection legislation making its way through Sacramento right now: Assembly Bill 2564, introduced by Assemblymember Chris Ward.

If you haven’t heard about "surveillance pricing," it’s the growing corporate practice where algorithms, browsing history, real-time location, and personal data profiles are used to dynamically inflate prices for individual shoppers—meaning two people standing in the same store (or looking at the same website) might see completely different price tags.

AB 2564 would ban companies from using your personal data to set customized price markups in California.

The status right now: The bill successfully passed the State Assembly and is currently pending in the State Senate. Big retail and tech lobbyists are fighting hard against it, so State Senators need to hear directly from their constituents across California.

How to take action in under 60 seconds:
Find your State Senator by entering your address at the official lookup tool: findyourrep.legislature.ca.gov

Call their Capitol or local district office.

Tell the staffer: "Hi, I'm a constituent living in [Your City/ZIP]. I'm calling to ask the Senator to vote YES on AB 2564 to protect Californians from dynamic surveillance pricing."

It takes less than a minute, but constituent phone calls make a massive difference when senators decide how to vote on the Senate floor.

He doesn't care about things like mass surveillance or how old McDonald cuts off the head of other sheep. All he cares about is sending data to the cloud.

I’ve been digging into Dallas’s use of automated license plate readers (ALPRs/Flock cameras) through Texas Public Information Act requests, and one part of what I found is insane/
Dallas has issued enforcement orders requiring certain private properties to install a “law enforcement integrated license plate reader system (such as the Flock Safety system or other similar system)” and register private camera systems with CONNECT DALLAS.
That is a very different situation from a private business simply deciding to put up its own security camera.
It means that, at least in some circumstances, the City can and has already used governmental authority to cause privately owned property to become part of a law-enforcement surveillance network due to "crime concerns".
My July public-records request asked Dallas for, among other things:
the locations and number of ALPR cameras;

private cameras accessible by DPD;

data-sharing agreements;

outside/federal agency access;

audit and search logs;

retention periods;

complaints and unauthorized-use investigations;

and records showing who can search the system.

Dallas created a separate DPD open-records request from that submission. Based on the email record I have, I still have not located a substantive DPD response to that separate request.
But I think Dallas residents should know the answers to some basic questions:
How many government and privately owned ALPR cameras can Dallas police search?
Can an officer run one plate across cameras owned by businesses, apartments, HOAs, neighboring cities, or other states?
How long are those records kept?
Which outside agencies can access Dallas data?
How often are officers audited for improper searches?
And how many privately owned cameras became part of the law-enforcement network because Dallas itself required their installation?
I’m continuing to request the underlying records rather than speculating any further. We are on day 36 without a response.
If anyone here has received Dallas/Flock records through a Public Information Act request, works with this system, has encountered one of these property requirements, or knows where Dallas publishes its full ALPR sharing/audit policies, I’d be interested in comparing records.
For the record, the first address the city compelled private property to put up and share flock cameras is at 4910 East Side Avenue, there are several more including one within the last month, but they have not released the address.
Fuck this company, we deserve privacy.
