Help Blurry webm map

Hello, I've been trying to prep with Foundry for a while and so far so good, but yesterday I tried several times different ways to use s map from Dynamic Dungeons, which has animations and so, and it looks really blurry, kind of when bitrate gets smashed on Twitch. I'm just wondering if I'm doing something wrong or if there's a way I can make it better or if it is just how it is suposed to be. Thank you in advance!

What resolution are the maps you are using?

Personally I only ever used animated battlemaps I created myself with Dungeon Alchemist. There I often reduced the resolution because the file size became quite big when animated, causing my animated maps to be blurry in comparison to static maps.

I'm not an expert though, just my first thoughts reading your post. :) Not sure about the impact of webp format on animated maps either.

Dynamic Dungeons says on its Patreon the maps are 4k, so 4k I guess haha so that animated maps can be blurrier than static ones is actually a thing, I see 🤔

4k isn't a lot when zoomed in. Static maps are in the range of 10k or more.

4k images can be blurry when viewed on a smaller resolution display probably due to Chrome's display or your video card must be struggling to render the big size.

Maybe you can resize the webm to a lower resolution or check the patreon if they offer lower resolution alternatives for the same map.

I got a 2k screen plus an rtx3070, also not using chrome at all. Also I've check the Patreon just in case they had better quality ones as I wasn't very happy with the blurryness but seems they only have 1080p for 40" tv, 4k for 50"tv and json with webm for foundry which is the one I'm using currently. When I check the previews on drive they look quite blurry as well to be honest...

Are you running this locally in the app, through a browser, or through a browser host like Forge-vtt? If locally, it could be your graphics card or your display settings having issue with the 4k resolution. If through a web host it definitely increases the likely hood of loading and update issues with it being such a large file.

4k is great when you are just playing it in person on a video tabletop, but it can be pretty rough in a hosted game. Its recommended that the map be scaled to 70-140 pixels per square and no larger. Map DPI should only be around 70-90. I've seen some as high as 300dpi (print standard) making loading a problem. You want the file size to be around 50mb max if you want your players to be able to load it. Webm file type is preferred for looping without lag and smaller file size, and works best for the streaming of content through Foundry. Webp is the preferred for static images and .ogg for sound.

You honestly don't need 4k either for this kind of thing. There isn't really a noticeable difference unless you are zooming in really really close on a normal computer screen or if you are displaying it on a very large screen.

I see, I don't think is my graphics card as it quite powerfull, what I noticed is when I use the json that comes with the map it sets the dpi to 55 which looks low as I understand. Anyway I guess I will go at the end for static maps as I'm quite an image quality and audio quality nerd 😂

55 dpi is low low. What does the json do in this instance? Usually that's information for walls and functionality of the map but it sounds like its doing something else as well in this case and not setting scene data up correctly. Is it programmed for the Foundry version you are using, like v11 instead of v14 or something?
