If conservatives stops supporting people who hate those who are born different and immigrants, then maybe?

To be fair, the image is texhncizlky true even if it glosses over that conservatives make most of the problems.

It’s def true that the people with the most power want us to be divided so that we fight each other instead of towards them. The main point I’m focusing on though is that conservatives have to actually try to stop being hateful towards people who are different from them and must stop falling for the manufactured demonization of marginalized people, an agenda that many of those in power, like Trump, keep pushing.

Edit: I just wanted to clarify that I’m not disagreeing with anyone. I was just explaining that my original comment was never disagreeing with the point that the OG image was making; I was just talking about a separate aspect of the issue. I’m sorry if it came off as if I’m dismissing the point it’s trying to make or trying to argue with anyone. I was just literally focusing on a specific aspect of the situation and wasn’t concerned with addressing whether or not the original image’s message is correct or not (I already agreed with it).

If we changed their culture-war into a class-war, they're be screwed.

Edit: auto correct issue.

If conservatives stop hating everything, including themselves? Maybe. Probably won't happen though. They LOVE to hate (especially themselves, but outwardly directed at everything).

Hate ai slop so much. There’s so many real images that could make this point just the same.

Problem is, conservative think the bottom image is literally what happened on Jan. 6th.

Conservatives will say this while walking lockstep with the kkk and people flying swastikas and not realize THEY are the target of the "they" are referring to thats keeping us from working together

So many people in my area are quick to point out how “crazy the world is these days.”

Yeah, I know. Y’all voted for this shit. Literally couldn’t have done it without you.

Not now when people take Fox News as “news.”

I hear you but every time I see stuff like this I'm just like "so I'm supposed to ignore that these people keep voting to protect pedophiles because they want to strip healthcare from women and torture Mexicans?"

I understand the culture war is intentionally manufactured but it's also here and it's real and we can't really just ignore it. The other side needs to find their humanity, we can't do it for them.

No.

Who is they? People have the freedom to choose. They are responsible for their vote.

If you can't be bothered to actually do anything aside from listening to slogans during election season. The problem is you.

There's actual voting records on issues that are important to you. It's not difficult to look into them.

The issue is we have a huge portion of the population who just votes however they have or their community has with no real regard whatsoever to what the folks they vote for actually do when they are in office.

A perfect example is folks who vote Republican because they believe in fiscal responsibility. The Republican party has not been fiscally responsible for over 40 years now. Quite the opposite yet here we are 40 years later and folks are still voting based on a slogan that has no actual basis in reality.

The two parties are not the same and anyone who thinks they are are not paying attention in the slightest.

White conservatives vote to protect their social status. Any other reason that they give is just a lie because they don't want to say the quiet part out loud.

u/bunker_man 1d ago

I mean... this isn't limited to conservatives or white people. Most people vote for things they think are good for their social status. That's why the phrase "voting against your own interests" exists. Its assumed that their interests are what they vote for.

I agree with the graphic.

It’s not slogans, people are being programmed with all sorts of bullshit. Example: “Boomers took all your money and equality of life”. No, they worked a job like every other Joe blow. If you can afford a car today, did you ruin it for future generation that can’t? Look at the wealth hoarders and they come from a variety of generations. The wealthy CEOs who are buying Congress to turn you in to their personal ATM. Soon you won’t be able to fart without paying a fee.

Republicans frame Muslims as wanting to “destroy the American way with sharia law”. First off, Muslims are only 1% of the population. Secondly Christian nationalists are doing their best to force their religious beliefs on everyone and they openly talk about a national abortion ban, outlawing birth control, removing women from the workforce, etc, etc.

They claim immigrants and the poor are stealing all your tax dollars while billions upon billions in government subsidies are paid to the most profitable corporations in America. When there’s an economic downturn they throw trillions at corporate America while telling you the single mother struggling to feed her child is the problem.

The republicans are the party of division because they use fear to keep people from working together to improve our quality of life. Having social safety nets makes it harder to cut taxes for those donating millions and billions to keep their shills in Washington.

Those that bought houses actually did ruin it for future generations by voting for policies that protected their property values over building. Corporate America didn't create that system. The current racially segregated school system is a direct result of decision made by average Americans. Corporate America didn't create that either. It is not just the rich who benefit from the system.

No one voted for policies. People in America vote for the best smile, laugh, clothes and most clever comebacks. Few people even know the issues much less what a politician’s position is on any given issues. For example abortion. 70% of Americans were in favor keeping abortion illegal yet somehow elected clowns who installed SCOTUS judges to destroy legal precedent.

Just as is happening right now, the super wealthy bought our elected officials who made them more money at our expense.

If you believe any generation took your quality of life by going to work and buying the only house they could afford, what are YOU doing right now to stop future generations from suffering because you can go to work and can afford rent and afford to eat every day? Because they may not be able to do that as this trend continues.

We all need to stop the corruption of buying politicians that’s destroying us all.

People can support many policies but most are willing to support candidates who don't especially if those candidates support those policies which they think are most important. For white voters, especially in the South, that is cultural superiority and they are seemingly willing to pay any price to get it. Social conservatives have used abortion to build a coalition with conservative Catholics who traditionally voted for liberal economic policies prior to the civil rights movement. White voters are willing to have abortion made illegal if it keeps their cultural superiority over black and brown people.

What am I doing? I support YIMBY pro-building policies and don't plan on funding my retirement from increases in my home value. I support equitable education policies including eliminating the Hope Scholarship.

Politicians are a reflection of voters. They don't exist in an vacuum.

u/GadreelsSword 1d ago

Again, ask 20 people on the street who the vice president is. You’ll be very lucky to get 8 who know. Just because you and I pay attention doesn’t mean the average person does.

I’m a Gen X’er and no one voted to increase their home value. It’s just an inflationary reality mixed in with supply and demand. Just as no one votes to increase rent or car prices.

1

u/CMidnight 1d ago

People voted for local politicians who ran on limiting density, access, and infrastructure. These are the policies that keep home values high. Boomers started the process but Gen Xers definitely continued supporting it. The same policies keep rents high. It isn't an accident that these policies are the ones supported by home owners.

1

u/GadreelsSword 14h ago

You’re making up nonsense. 90% of voters have no clue what politicians stand for UNLESS they hear a report saying they’re against something they like.

NEVER have I heard a single politician tell the public, I’m going to keep home prices high! It’s ALWAYS we need affordable housing.

1

u/CMidnight 12h ago

Trump literally said he wants property values to stay high just a few months ago

1

u/GadreelsSword 12h ago

Yes and that’s a first. With a sub 30% approval rating do you really think Trump would win another election?

He also said he loves inflation. Do you think people would line up to vote for his senility?

u/TRVTH-HVRTS 21h ago

The bottom picture is what the left is actually already doing.

The top picture is what the right fantasizes is happening.

We will never be able to cooperate with the right. They think we’re the enemy within. They want us dead or in camps. We’re not bickering over top marginal tax rates. We’re begging for our basic human rights.

u/bleedgreenandyellow 15h ago

This shit is generational fear. Good luck sorting that out

1

u/ObsoleteDogma 14h ago

We will never be united so long as right-wing influencer media and FOX news exist. It truly is the single largest obstacle.

1

u/xeonicus 14h ago

True it's ultimately not about right vs left. It's about the 1% vs everyone else.

The problem is, the 1% is bankrolling Fox News. They are bankrolling most of those prominent Republicans. But they are also bankrolling corporate democrats. They own and operate most of the prominent media outlets so they have their finger on dial. It's not just Fox News.

Outside of the Fox News space, the propaganda is more subtle and harder to recognize. They use trigger words to generate bias, and some people might not even recognize an article is influencing them. In recent times a lot of left-leaning media has been co-opted by right-wing billionaires, and they continue to operate as a charade while influencing. The only media you can really depend on anymore is online independent media.

Of course that's why they are dividing us and unfortunately it's going to remain that way until the conservatives stop licking boot. There's nothing for us to move over to their site for. In many cases when we try to remain kinds for loving or supportive they remain abusive and all it does is take from those of us who want to be United.

u/Ok-Elk-1316 11h ago

i believe the big bend protests had people from both sides, although i’m guessing many of those on the right have already abdicated MAGA if they care about the NP’s at all

"They want us to fight each other!"

Brother I just want them to follow the constitution.
