Remember that it’s still a preview, not entirely a finished game, the reason they haven’t released it yet is because they are finishing up, fixing bugs, making stuff like this not happen, etc

They've gone on record saying they had to sacrifice some realism (like selecting individual items in the fridge), to help make sure the game doesn't fall into the realm of tedium.
