Pixel 8

I plan on buying the new Motorola with GrapheneOS next year when it comes out but I think I heard it’s not due out until December? Is that correct? I currently have an iPhone XS Max but want something more secure. I was going to purchase a refurbished Pixel 8 (128 or 256) from Amazon. I don’t currently own a PC. Do I need one to install GrapheneOS? I figure I could just go to the library and use a computer there. Any advice or anything else I need to consider/know?

The Pixel 8 is a great choice. To install GrapheneOS you will need a computer or another Android phone with a Chromium browser (like Chrome or Brave) installed.

You should also get the Pixel 8 Pro if you want a screen which feels as big as the XS Max.

I do have an android phone without a SIM card that I use at home. Thank you.

I don't think so.

No they have not said.

I'm not sure if you can on an iPhone. But it will work from an android phone.

If you're only going to have it for a year, then upgrade to a Motorola, you might get a Pixel 7. It will save you a good bit of $ for a shorter-term phone.

You might be able to install it with a library computer. You would have better luck with a library that lets you borrow laptop computers as you would books. 

Hopefully you have friends/family who could let you use a computer...
