i used to work at a mall so i unfortunately i saw people doing this ALL THE DAMN TIME!! like why do you want the world to hear about your best friends divorce?? (yes this was an actual call that me and my co workers overheard).

I've suffered with this for my whole adult life; during every intimate relationship, and it makes me feel awful.

If you're a large corporation / business, and you've jumped on the AI bandwagon, don't ask me if I'm a robot or not! At that point, what does it matter if I'm a human or a bot. You (or rather, your wallets) have already decided that you prefer bots to humans.

IDGAF about DDoS or spam. That's your problem. My problem is that Captchas and the like have become insufferable. I can't even watch a YouTube video without signing in any more, if not because of equally BS age-restricting, but because Google - the company that gave us Gemini AI - still wants actual human beings to watch content posted to the very same video sharing website that they've already ruined.

And this is coming from someone who thinks the "anti-AI" crowd are grossly uneducated.

Nothing is that funny, that you need to add LOL at the end of every sentence, and there's no way these people are actually laughing at that exact moment, after whatever shit they've just typed.

I wonder if everyone will disagree here tho but What really annoys me about this is the double standard.. My mother-in-law has a glass of wine every day, and my father-in-law will have his few beers at night in front of the TV. Nobody bats an eyelid because it’s seen as completely normal.
But mention having a joint and suddenly people are judging you and treating you like a druggy outsider.

If someone is sitting at home, minding their own business and smoking harmlessly.. why is that somehow more deserving of judgement than someone drinking wine or beer every night?

Ahh have to vent about it somewhere, it actually bugs me to the core.

I always found it a bit of an insult that just because I'm left handed scissors making companies also seem to assume I'm clumsy too.

Does anyone else get annoyed by people who only ever reply “This.” or “^This” to comments on Reddit?

I get that it’s meant to show agreement, but I find it often comes across as:

•Condescending, like they’re stamping the comment as “the final word”

•Lazy, with no actual input or perspective of their own

•A bit self-important, as if their agreement somehow validates the original comment more than an upvote would

• Low-key narcissistic, in the sense that it’s more about them positioning themselves as the person who “confirms” the truth than actually contributing to the discussion

It feels less like genuine engagement and more like performative agreement. If you strongly agree, just upvote. If you have something to add, add it. But dropping a single “This.” and acting like you’ve contributed something meaningful is pretty grating I find it so cringe I get secondhand embarrassment when I see it on here.

2. "Surface" is not a transitive verb unless you are aboard a submarine. So you can not "surface that as an issue".

3. You might start up a new service offering but you don't "turn it up" as though it had a volume knob. Marketing people trying to sound technical might use this.

What really grinds my gears? Shows that depict women getting tickled in a cute way! Go home and tickle your woman and tell me if she doesn't turn into Mike Fucking Tyson in .75 seconds.

I suffer from a medical condition known as fat fingeritis, so I dictate into my phone. Kind of a lot. And sometimes, my phone can't hear me properly, and it writes words that it thinks I said, but the closeness can range anywhere from "understandable homophone" all the way to "What the fuck, are you on crack?" So then, not only does it interrupt the flow while I'm talking, but I have to go back through and type it anyway with my fat fingers, so it's like what's the point?

And the worst ones? When I'm in a hurry to get a point out, so my dumb ass doesn't proofread, and I end up posting pure nonsense sentences.

We get it, you don't like the word "moist" or something. No one cares, it's not a slur or anything it just means wet. Oh, it sounds sexual does it? Grow up...

I used to get annoyed a lot by my ex with this stuff. She'd have a list of names she hated and she'd make this big song and dance about it if anyone used one around her. Moist of course was on said list and I remember having to sit there in dumbfoundry as she and 5 other women had a discussion about how gross that word is and how it should be banned etc.

I am noticing nowadays that more and more people do not say "hello" after picking up the phone. I am from a company, and we do not cold call people. We call people back returning missed phone calls and voicemails.

There are a good amount of times that a person picks up and waits in silence. It is pretty universal and expected standard protocol for the older generations that the person who picks up the phone initiates the "hello". Now with the changing times, since the person who is picking up the call doesn't say hello, is it always now on the onus of the person calling? This is awkward for the caller since there is sometimes silence during transition periods to voicemail or when calling, so the caller does not know 100% that silence indicates that someone actually picked up or that it is still transitioning. The person calling would then have to keep saying "hello" over and over again and just to hope that someone did actually pickup and someone is on the other line.

Why do I get the feeling that the people who answer phones in silence also probably call with silence too and expect a "hello" first on the other receiving end, so that they never say "Hello" first in any phone situation. Am I wrong with this assumption?

Maybe I’m old-fashioned, but if you pick up the phone, at least say “hello” 😭 Lately I’ve had so many calls where the other person answers and there’s just silence until I speak first. Why did answering the phone turn into a staring contest?
