I will be visiting Guangzhou during the Canton International Fair and was wondering if anyone can help me with some recommendations. I will be staying in the Binjiang Residential District and am hoping someone can tell me how the public transport system works.

I do not see too many metro stations near that area, are there busses I can take to go to the metro stations?
What type of tools can I best use to plan my trips in Guangzhou?
What are the best places to get breakfast and dinner in the area?
What areas in Guanzhou should I avoid because they are not safe?

If anyone has some other tips for me, these are highly appreciated 😄

I’ll be visiting later this year to look at venues, but I’m not really sure where to start. Most of what I find online seems to be luxury hotels.

Hi, we are traveling soon from LAX - HK (2 days) and then we will take the High Speed train to Foshan West (6 days) - Shanghai (2 days - via domestic flight) - LAX. I read that there is a luggage quantity and size limit for this train. We initially planned to bring larger sized luggage - app 31" height vs the allowance of 24". Does anyone know if it is possible to ask in advance if we may bring the larger cases somehow? ChatGPT told me that I can also use a private driver but it's double the time which I dont really prefer... If we MUST only bring carry-ons for our first leg, I would prefer that. Lastly, someone I met recommended using the ferry? Anyone know more about this? I need to ensure it keeps our 240hr visa valid :) Thank you so much!!

So I’m planning on traveling to Guangzhou around Christmas time for the first time in a couple years. I was looking at flight options and the cheapest flights I could find were from Asiana Airlines. I would be flying from JFK to Incheon. I saw flights go as low as 1250USD for the round trip. However, I have never used this airline. I normally don’t pay too much attention to which airline I use but we are talking about a 16 hour flight to get to SK so I’m more careful with choosing this time and a 2 hour layover in SK and another 4 hours to get to CAN. Like anyone else, I value comfort. So I’d like to know if the seats (for economy) are comfortable. I'm also on a budget trying to get the best prices I can. The returning flight is 3 hours back to Incheon from CAN, a 4 hour layover, and 14 hour flight back to JFK. Another thing that matters to me is the state of their airplanes. Are they well maintained? Are they old planes? I’m usually not scared of flying, but I would like to at least be on a sturdy plane if I have to cross the Pacific.

Another flight option I found was 1165USD for the round trip on Cathay Pacific Airways directly from JFK to HKG which is a 16 hour flight with 2-3 hour transfer time in Hong Kong and then the Chu Kong Passenger Ferry which is 2 hours and 15 minutes to Pazhou. The retuning flight is the same. Not sure which flight option is better considering flight option, time, budget, and comfort on the planes.

Total travel is around 3 weeks for both flight options.

TLDR: Is Asiana Airlines good or Cathay Pacific flight option better here for getting to Guangzhou? Give me your opinions and experiences with choosing flight options please. Open to suggestions and tips for travelling in Guangzhou as well. Thank you
