Blacklisted Factories

Upvotes

Anyone has a link to a list of blacklisted factories page or thread? Need to do some research on companies we're potentially getting into business with, and had some horrible experiences with those even listed well on Alibaba.

Local Guangzhou Student — Happy to Show You Around!

Upvotes

Hey everyone!
I’m a student at Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) and a local from Guangzhou. I speak Cantonese, Mandarin, and English, and I know Guangzhou pretty well, including the metro and how to get around different parts of the city.
If you’re visiting Guangzhou and want to experience the city beyond the usual tourist spots, I’d be happy to show you around!
We could explore local neighborhoods, try Cantonese food, visit some interesting places, or simply walk around and see what the city has to offer. I can also help you figure out transportation and get around Guangzhou without getting hopelessly lost 😂
I’m not a professional tour guide — just a local university student who enjoys meeting people from different backgrounds and sharing the places and experiences that make Guangzhou special.
Whether you’re looking for a local friend, someone to explore the city with, or someone to show you around, feel free to DM me!
No fixed itinerary, no tour-guide vibes — just exploring Guangzhou together. :)
欢迎来广州!/ 欢迎嚟广州!🇨🇳

Looking for Carbon credit buyers

Hi everyone,

I’m looking to connect with people or companies in China, Hong Kong, or elsewhere in Asia who are currently interested in purchasing carbon credits from Oceania countries.

I’m particularly interested in speaking with:

  • Companies purchasing credits for their own requirements
  • Carbon traders
  • Brokers/intermediaries
  • Businesses looking for longer-term supply
  • Anyone currently involved in the Asian carbon market

At this stage, I’m mainly looking to understand the market and connect with genuine buyers.

If you’re involved in carbon trading or purchasing in China/Hong Kong and have an interest in carbon credits, feel free to DM me. Happy to have a conversation and see whether there’s a potential fit.

Thanks.

Visiting Guangzhou from October 12th until November 2nd for the Canton Fair

Hi all,

I will be visiting Guangzhou during the Canton International Fair and was wondering if anyone can help me with some recommendations. I will be staying in the Binjiang Residential District and am hoping someone can tell me how the public transport system works.

I do not see too many metro stations near that area, are there busses I can take to go to the metro stations?
What type of tools can I best use to plan my trips in Guangzhou?
What are the best places to get breakfast and dinner in the area?
What areas in Guanzhou should I avoid because they are not safe?

If anyone has some other tips for me, these are highly appreciated 😄

Can't wait to visit this beautiful city!

Wedding advice

Hi everyone! I’m a foreigner planning a wedding in Guangzhou next year for around 80 people.
I’ll be visiting later this year to look at venues, but I’m not really sure where to start. Most of what I find online seems to be luxury hotels.
If you’re local or have planned a wedding in Guangzhou, I’d really appreciate specific recommendations for venues, wedding planners, or vendors. I’m open to anything nice but don’t need a luxury hotel.
Also, any tips for a foreigner planning a wedding here would be really helpful. Thanks!

Coming to China for a trade fair? A few things I wish overseas buyers knew

Hi everyone,

I work in international trade in China and have experience with sports equipment, customized products, overseas buyers and Chinese factories.

I've noticed that many first-time buyers coming to China for trade fairs are mainly concerned about:

• communicating with suppliers
• understanding MOQ and pricing
• checking whether a supplier is actually a factory
• discussing customization and production details
• arranging factory visits after the trade fair

I’m based in Shandong and am currently exploring a small independent service helping overseas buyers with trade fairs, supplier communication, factory visits and Chinese-English business communication.

My main experience is in sports and outdoor products, but I’m open to other categories as well.

If you're planning to visit a trade fair in China this year, feel free to ask questions here. I’m happy to share what I know from the supplier side.

NYE 2026

My partner and I will be in Guangzhou for the calendar new year, would anyone recommend anything fun to do? We don't want a big event/party/nightclub, something like a more casual bar or restaurant would be better. I'm unsure if the city has any fireworks or drone shows, or if they celebrate NYE at all? Any information would be appreciated

Question about the Hong Kong West Kowloon High Speed Rail Station

Hi, we are traveling soon from LAX - HK (2 days) and then we will take the High Speed train to Foshan West (6 days) - Shanghai (2 days - via domestic flight) - LAX. I read that there is a luggage quantity and size limit for this train. We initially planned to bring larger sized luggage - app 31" height vs the allowance of 24". Does anyone know if it is possible to ask in advance if we may bring the larger cases somehow? ChatGPT told me that I can also use a private driver but it's double the time which I dont really prefer... If we MUST only bring carry-ons for our first leg, I would prefer that. Lastly, someone I met recommended using the ferry? Anyone know more about this? I need to ensure it keeps our 240hr visa valid :) Thank you so much!!

Hi there. I'm in Chongqing right now and will be in Guangzhou and Shenzhen in the coming days. I'm interested in getting a Songmont Luna which shows 2400rmb on website. Are these bags cheaper in the actual store? Also do prices vary between cities? Thank you so much for your help.

Halal restaurants around Liwan Plaza

Hello! We'll be visiting Guangzhou next week, and I was wondering if anyone could recommend any halal restaurants or eateries around Liwan Plaza? We're looking for hearty casual meals that is convenient during our travels, we don't have a particular cuisine in mind, just want to find places that are definitely/genuinely halal. If you have any recommendations or suggestions, we'd really appreciate it. Thank you so much! 🥹

COSP 2026 Guangzhou – tunnel tents, camping furniture, outdoor lighting, 500+ brands. Worth it for sourcing?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

For those of you sourcing outdoor living gear from China – there’s an exhibition called COSP 2026 happening in Guangzhou this Oct 30 – Nov 1 at the Poly World Trade Expo Center.

What‘s there:

500+ exhibitors across camping, cycling, water sports, and outdoor apparel

30,000+ sqm exhibition space

60,000+ professional buyers expected

Covers tunnel tents, high-performance fabrics, camping furniture, outdoor lighting, and more

What caught my attention is the positioning: they’re framing it with that autumn camping vibe — “crisp autumn air, golden grass, this tunnel tent — sleek, spacious, built for the wild” — then bridging it to the full B2B supply chain. They‘re also bringing the outdoors inside the expo hall with camping zones and immersive nature scenes.

Also worth noting: it’s running concurrently with Canton Fair Phase 3 – right next door. So if you‘re already in town for Canton Fair, you can just walk over.

Has anyone here sourced from COSP before? How does it compare to other Chinese outdoor expos in terms of supplier quality and pricing? Trying to decide if it’s worth the trip. Any insights appreciated!
