What should I call this bad boy? Guitarolin? bowtar? I need ideas 😂

It sounds really cool, but the bow I made sucks azz. I made it out of a piece of steel with sewing thread wrapped around it. V2 is in the works!

What riffs are harder than they sound? The typical ones you’ll hear are Snow and Every Breath You Take, those ones are notorious, almost too well known. and imo Snow sounds just as hard as it is. People also throw out Sweet Home Alabama and Smells Like Teen Spirit (played correctly) which makes sense.

I think the question you must ask yourself is what riff requires the most effort for the lowest amount of impressiveness to the general public. My vote would go to a legendary divorced dad rock riff, the harmonics intro to Blurry by Puddle of Mudd, and I’d throw in Can’t Stop, Under The Bridge, Interstate Love Song, and Drive in there.

Recently acquired an almost mint condition '67 Deluxe Reverb AB763. I recently got it back from servicing including a new cap job. Put a Celestion Heritage g12-65, as I wasn't a fan of the Oxford. Here's my cover of a Phish tune. I'm also using an analogman ts9 and compressor.

This has been my most-wanted guitar for a while now after playing its sibling, the Lead II, in a guitar store. I finally got one with my birthday money, and it both feels and sounds amazing. It came with 9-gauge strings, which I don't care for, but they should be easy enough to replace. Overall I'm super happy with this guitar and I plan to have it be my main one for the foreseeable future!

I got it a couple years ago and I went to get a pickup replacement and they said they couldn’t do it because the body was damaged. How do I fix this?

I fully admit this is a me problem. I suffer from anxiety and for some reason learning guitar feels embarrassing. I'm almost 40, and pretty new to playing. I love it. I suck at it and that's mostly OK.

The embarrassing part comes from worrying about my wife hearing me suck. To be clear, she is unbelievably supportive and kind and has never (nor would ever) say anything negative to me about it. But fucking up notes and just being not good at it is hard when I know she can hear. I'm plugged into a headphone amp, but I know she can still hear it (we have thin walls).

Not looking for advice or anything. Just wanted to vent.

My first new guitar in about 8 years, and my most expensive one to date at €1999! :)

I’ve played 7 string guitars before, but my hands are on the smaller side and I’m not huge myself, so bigger guitars have always felt clunky and uncomfortable to me. With this guitar though, the extra string feels natural, and even the longer scale and the fanned frets are barely noticeable at all when playing. I’ve spent the past 3-ish hours playing, and I got used to the neck, the fanned frets and the extra string pretty much instantly.

My favourite thing about this guitar aside from the smaller size is its weight and balance. It pretty much stays upright in a classical position by itself, which makes it very comfortable to play. Personally I’ve always preferred a more upright position, and this guitar really lends itself to that.

The only negative so far was that the tone knob wasn’t screwed on properly, so I had to tighten the screw on the knob myself. The guitar comes with a few tools, but the smallest wrench didn’t fit, so l got lucky that I had a fitting one at home. Not a big deal at all, but I do have to wonder how this happens with a €2000 guitar. Aside from that though, the quality is flawless. I personally haven’t had any issues with the E string slipping off when playing so far (which seems to be a very common issue with Strandbergs), and it doesn’t feel cheap or poorly made at all. The intonation is perfect out of the box, even though it has been sitting in a warehouse for 5 months. The action is super low without any buzzing, and the guitar stayed perfectly in tune for the entire time I was playing.

So far, I’m very satisfied. I already get what people mean when they say that that can’t go back to “regular” guitars after they played a headless one, but we’ll see.

My Fender Player II strat is having issues and I believe it is the selector switch circuitry due to abuse. While I get day fixed I was thinking of having the shop do another set up and put in E standard this time.

Why? Because I want a Yngwie Malmsteen signature strat. They are $4300 after tax. I have never played a scalloped neck by 3 of the 5 guitar players I listen to play them. I figure if I don't like it I can return it. How are stores like Long McQuade (Canadas equivalent to Guitar Center) with the handling of returning ordered guitars? Big hassle or do people pull this multiple times a day?

I thought about putting a towel under the neck below the headstock but then there would be a kit of pressure on the neck since the bottom of the corpus still doesn't make contact with the bag...

Hi all; as the title says, I have a nickel allergy and I am looking for the general consensus on what strings people use. I’ve used Elixir Optiwebs for a few years now. While I really don’t have a big problem with them, I think I’m just looking for “greener pastures”. I know some jazz cats like using chromes, but I’ve never gotten the chance to test them out; of course, I’m a little wary because of the price tag.
So I guess I have 2 tl;dr questions

1). What do people with nickel allergies use, besides coated strings?

2). How do chromes feel for other genres besides traditional jazz playing?

Hi, this is my first post here!

I've been playing guitar for a few years now (although I'm not nearly as good as I should be given how long I've been playing!), and I'd call myself intermediate. I learned Hozier's "Cherry Wine" a few months ago, and it's by far my favorite song to play on guitar, and I love the fact that it's easy to sing along to, since I'm not exactly a singer. I'm interested in finding other fingerstyle songs, preferably where singing and playing at the same time isn't a super huge hurdle.

Some artists/bands I like if that helps at all:

Mitski, Queen, Cavetown, Hozier, Stromae, Death Cab for Cutie, Omnipotent Youth Society (deep cut but if you know you know)
