I just need a safe place to post where people understand. I am a new guppy parent, and all was well for the first week. They’re from pet smart (i know, not the most reputable). One had babies, but she succumbed to the pregnancy shortly after and went onward. Then, another seemed to be pine coning and developed dropsy and went onward too. This happened yesterday (the official mark of their first week with me). Initially there was only one fry, I woke up this morning to two more. I only have a male and female left out of the 3 females and 1 male I started with. It’s been a rollercoaster constantly testing water and checking them, but the last 2 plus the babies seem to be in great shape. I definitely need to get more plants, and do not plan to “breed” per se but allow nature to take its course however that looks each time. If the fry thrive and survive, of course I have the space and capacity to care for them but if they are eaten, I am okay too.

I have him in a tank with green neon tetras. His tail was fine for the first ~3 months and then within the last few weeks it has been stripping away. He’s the only hippy in the tank so doubt it’s fin nipping?

I just started with guppies, got a 6 pack of assorted female guppies (one was a male endler lol) one of the females developed the cool neon green spots on both sides. I’ve been trying to find info but green spots on female guppies sends back a lot of different info. Just curious if anybody here what she may be. She was tiny when I got her so I never really noticed them until recently.

Went to a river and in Maryland and found these fish. Anyone know what kind of fish they are?

i woke up this morning to feed our guppies (3) & noticed this stuff kinda hanging out of him? off of him..?? i’m not sure. his back is bent which is also new & he’s slow at swimming, staying mainly at the top. has anyone seen this before?? it wasn’t there last night around 10pm when i turned off their light & said goodnight. i’m worried!

We currently have one guppy in our tank and 3 corydoras in a 45L tank. Other guppies we had unfortunately are not around anymore. We introduced 5 platies because they are less weak fish.

The guppy seems to be very aggresive to the platies. Chasing, nipping. We currently have the guppy isolated in a breeding box inside the tank.

Looking for general advice. Could adding more guppies help? I am afraid this will be many fish in the tank.

I ofcourse would like to not get rid of the guppy

Advice needed please… my guppy appears to be staying in the bottom corner of the tank, any reason why… illness, pregnancy? All the other fish are very energetic and loving life. Just a little concerned. Thanks in advance for your help.

la semaine derniére, j ai étè en jardinerie r'acheter des guppys pour la consanguinité et fait un changement d'eau tout se passer bien sauf depuis 3 jours ou tout les matin j en retire un bonne dizaine qui sont mort.

My kid chose these guppies. At the store I was told these are all males but I think the orange one is a female. The smaller ones are bugging it, I'm considering putting them in a separate tank if they don't behave. Or grab more females?

Hello. I have a 35-gallon tank with about 20 adult guppies and a few fry here and there. Yesterday, I went to feed them and I could not find any fish. I took out all the decor and there are only 4 fries left. In the span of about 3 days, maybe a little longer, they all disappeared. I didn’t not find any dead fish and I haven’t gotten a chance to test the water either

Any ideas??

There’s a shortage of female guppies in my area. I’ve been to 4 pet shops and only managed to get 8 females. I’m still waiting for my shipment of more females to arrive.

Anyway, my friend willingly gave me her entire mixed guppy pond. I was only looking for females, but she scooped EVERYTHING into my bucket 🤣

Total damage: 72 adult guppies + 62 juveniles.

And out of all that… only 17 are female 😭

I literally only needed a few females. Now I’m sitting here wondering what the hell I’m supposed to do with all these guppies AND my other breeding projects. Hahahahahaha.

I’m doomed. 😂

I got him from my friend’s mixed pond. I literally just scooped 137 guppies, all mixed strains, so I have no idea if this guy is an actual strain or just a mutt 😂

But honestly… I don’t even care because LOOK AT HIM 😭😍

And I think I found a female with the same colour/pattern too, if I’m not mistaken 👀

Oropouche guppy (M) x (“Rio Morichal” Orangeline guppy (M) x Bluestar Endler (F)) (F)

Seeing this F2 matured, I was wrong on the cross he’s not (F1 Orangeline male hybrid x El Silverado female). He’s (Obscura male x F1 Orangeline hybrid female) cross. When he was courting his black line and spot got larger, I’ve only seen that trait in my late Obscuras neither my F1’s and pure Orangelines showed intricate hidden patterns when courting. Interesting part he still have the Orangeline exclamation point dance, his body is very tiny and compact at that. So yea he’s a 3 way guppy species hybrid cross. I can Def work with him! I can’t tell if he has sisters but good chance they are there in my tank. I tend to get more females over males in my colony bc he’s the only one so far from his litter.
