🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Hair due trial practice

There are a lot of fly aways I know ! This is my aunts hair I was using for practice and I don’t want to load her hair with because she has to do stuff for the rest of the day, but I did use heat protection.

I am practicing hair waves/curling with a straightening iron. What do you think of this hair do for a bride for a wedding? The bride wants this simple bun in the back do we think ? Should it be a bigger bun in the back?

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 The state of my freshly conditioned dripping wet hair.

Post image

My hair in the picture is right after the shower after conditioning and using a leave-in while still wet. I have tried using different shampoos, hair masks, conditioners, leave-ins, curl creams. But none seem to do anything. The products may make my hair a bit softer for 1-2 hours after showering but no taming of frizz. Once my hair gets dry it immediately tangles and its so hard to run my fingers/comb through it. The hair routine i follow is shampoo, condition and then follow up with a curl cream and hair serum at the end. But no damn use, as u can see my hair is frizzy while wet and freshly styled. The only thing i haven't tried is using oil. But no product i tried has worked until no so can oil alone uncook my hair.

Plz help idk what to even do atp.......

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Daughters tangled hair

So I need advice. My daughter‘s hair is always getting tangled/matted. She used to have so much hair, but now when I brush it, it gets so tangled that when I try to untangle it, it falls/breaks off. Wet or dry i end up with the same result, more tangles. I don’t know if there is a shampoo and conditioner that will help with her hair. I don’t know if we have hard water and if that is the cause of it, but I feel so bad because her hair is beautiful and long, and I don’t want to cut it. Besides breakage, she has a lot of split ends as well, and I am at a loss. I feel so bad because she loves her long hair, but I just don’t know what to do.

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Please please help me, my hair’s so sticky and gross and I can’t take it anymore.

I’ve tried everything I could think of. Apple cider vinegar, dish soap, hand soap, big glob of shampoo, clarifying shampoo, rinsing thoroughly, and shampooing twice and thrice and a fourth and maybe a fifth time. my parents make me feel so guilty every single time I dare ask for any other product and they just don’t seem to get it. they swear up and down that maybe it’s just how my hair is but I KNOW it isn’t, it’s NEVER been like this until the past year. sometimes the things I try set me right back at square one and I don’t know what to do. or worse, something seems like it’s working and when I try it again, it fails. nothing works. i’m sorry if I sound whiney.

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Great DIY Grey Hair Care - No smell either

I started using this product 10 years ago through my "stylist", but have pretty much DIY since she moved. This is a cost effective method for blending in the grey hairs.

I am a male with thinning short hair, so upkeep is pretty easy for me. The process uses Redken Color Camo and 10 volume Pro-Oxide cream developer. Mix to 1:1 ratio and apply to hair. The longer you leave it in there, the more color your hair will accept. It is NOT a dye, so application is easy with zero smell. My former stylist used an entire bottle of the Redken stuff on me, but I literally use like 1/4th at a time because I don't have the full flock I once did. The color will stay in your hair for 3 weeks or so, but you can reapply anytime you wish.

More specific instructions on the Redken website, but the highlight of this product is its ease of use and the fact that you can extend one bottle into multiple applications with no degredation; I've been doing it for years.

You can choose any of the colors they sell, but I recommend you start with a lighter color and work your way darker as you need. You can also manipulate the color by using less developer and/or leaving it in your hair before washing it out. Works on beards as well.

Ask me any questions!

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Tips to break habit of keeping my hair up?

Thumbnail gallery

Context: when I was like 12, someone made the comment "why dont you ever wear your hair up? It would look so nice!" to me and from that day on, I have basically had my hair up in a pony or a messy bun ever since. It has been 31 years and anytime I have my hair down, I love the way it looks, but I just can NOT keep my hands off of it, keep it out of my face, or anything and it just ends up going RIGHT back up. I also had 1970s-era straight hair my while life until my mid 20's so the change didnt help and just made me put it up even more.

I (currently) have shoulder length wavy-ish hair - pin straight underneath, curls at the crown, wavy for the rest except barely-there-waves framing my face. So really, the texture is chaotic. I rarely use heat, wash every other or every few days when it needs it, use leave-in conditioner, light oil a bit on the ends as my daily. I will also get it a nice cast and give it full curly love at times. Hair is thick-ish and coarse, but not overly dry/damaged thankfully, even after bleach/dye for many years. In essence, I try to take care of it and I love my hair, but I just cannot seem to stop putting it up. I have had lengths anywhere from shoulder-length to midway down my back and it made no difference. I generally always have layers and get it debulked/thinned or I start to look absolutely insane, and not in a good way. I have a double cowlick, one on each side of the back of my head. Sharing this in case anyone can think of another style to try maybe? Idk lol. I am grasping at straws over here.

So. Please help lol. Got any wild suggestions on how to get used to my hair being all up in my face space? If you need to yell at me and tell me I am going to destroy my hair by putting it up all the time because it will spontaneously combust, then by all means, do it. I can take it. 😅 I just need some help setting it free after 30+ years and nothing I am doing on my own is working. "Just do it and it will bother you less" hasnt been cutting it for 30 years, so that's not enough for my brain.

Pics with hair down and hair up for reference, because why not.🤷‍♀️

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Advice for managing long wavy/curly hair on a 3.5-year-old?

Post image
418 Upvotes

My three-and-a-half-year-old has long, wavy hair that we’ve never cut. She absolutely loves having long hair, so we don’t really want to cut it short, but we’re having a nightmare keeping it knot-free.

Her hair seems to tangle incredibly quickly, and she really doesn’t like having it brushed. She also wriggles around so much that it’s difficult to get the knots out without pulling or hurting her.

At the moment, we wash her hair about once a week with conditioner, and we try to brush it at least once a day. She’s happy to have it tied up, but we only really get it wet on the days we wash it.

My sister recently told me that you should never brush curly or wavy hair when it’s dry, which is basically what we’ve been doing, so now I’m wondering if our whole routine is wrong.

Does anyone with a curly/wavy-haired toddler have a routine that works well? Are there any good detangling sprays, leave-in conditioners, brushes or other products you’d recommend?

One slight complication is that my partner is very particular about ingredients and will only really use very natural products that score highly on the Yuka app, so recommendations along those lines would be especially helpful.

And would giving it a small trim help with the tangling? She’s never had it cut, so I’m wondering if some of the ends are still her very fine baby hair and that’s making things worse.

Any advice appreciated!

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Advice for thin frizzy hair

Hi there, I’m looking for advice to get smooth shiny hair. I’ve always had thin frizzy hair, I’ve included two examples, one naturally dry and the other styled.

I’ve stopped colouring and heat styling to improve health. I always wear my hair up because I can’t take the frizz.

Can I please get recommendations on:
1. A conditioner to alternate every second wash with my k18?
2. A hair mask or something to improve quality?
3. Any vitamins?
4. Anything else?

Bonus points for styling tips.

Thank you

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Seeking advice- is my hair damaged or does it possibly have some curl to it?

Post image

Ive been treating my hair as straight my entire life. Its frizzy, tangles so easily and is like the damn Sahara desert no matter what i do. I double cleanse, use lamellar treatments 2-3x a week, deep conditioning masks once a week, and condition for 5 mins minimum in shower, in conjunction with leave in conditioners, detanglers, oils and shine serums. I use the hydrate pureology line and have seen a small difference in terms of manageability and moisture, but nobody matter what i do it poofs right up after about 30 mins or right when brushed.

Photo posted is fully dry 2 hours out of the shower. I brushed when wet, not when dry yet.

ETA- I have previously bleached my hair. About 2 years ago. I now dye my roots black when needed.

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 What happened to my hair?

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

I always had smooth/soft/glossy hair that is straight. Was one of my fave phys features :/

All of the sudden (!!) I have these frizzy shorter hairs that are curled all around the top and sides of my head. Oddly, my ends/bottom length of my hair is the smoothest part now.

Only one thing has changed recently in my hair routine. I just switched from Lime Crime red to a Good Dye Young red. But these are basically color depositing conditioners, no? How could that be? Everything else is the same!! Products, water, diet.

Perimenopause??

Could it be my micro fiber hair towel was wrapped too tight? I’ve been using them for like 10 years with no problem.

What happened?? Looking at pics from 2 months ago, it was not like this
Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated!

**edit to add: I don’t use heat styling or blow dry

🔎 Product Question 🔎 Tresseme good or bad?

I started using tresseme blowout kertain conditioner. My hair has never been better. Its so soft and shiny. I'm worried it's gonna do harm in the long run. I've seen a lot of negative opinions. If it works great for my hair is it still bad? I remember seeing something in some conditioner coat the hair and gives the illusion of good but it's actually not good. I don't know if any of that makes sense. I really love my hair I would hate to be harming it bc I'm uneducated.

⚡️ Frizzy Hair ⚡️ looking for advice to combat frizz and just general haircare advice?

Post image
5 Upvotes

Looking for advice to combat this frizz, it doesn't happen every day, mostly on the high humidity days but it drives me insane. I have always battled with my hair my whole life, I don't know anything about haircare, I have pretty much just washed with whatever shampoo and conditioner and hoped for the best.

My hair type is fine and thin, I tend to lean towards oily scalp (wash every second day), I have wavy to curly hair depending on the day. I don't like to use any heat (I don't own a hairdryer etc).

thank you in advance!!

😩 Damaged Hair 😩 Dying blond hair into ginger

Post image
11 Upvotes

I have very long dark blond hair and I’m thinking about turning ginger. I’ve bleached and dyed my hair crazy colours before but it was shorter back then and it felt easy to just chop of once I got sick of the colour. I’m kind of really into my long hair right now and I don’t think I wanna bleach it. I looked into Henna but I think that’s too permanent… since my hair is dark blond I wouldn’t want to have dark hair forever until it dries out… are there any hair dyes where I could reliably go back to my blond?

⚡️ Frizzy Hair ⚡️ Hair tips (to stop my hair getting so frizzy!)

I have reasonably long hair and get it trimmed regularly. However my hair gets frizzy rather easily. When my hair naturally dries, it is wavy with a few curls. I do like to heat style my hair using straighteners or a round brush hairdryer, but use the dream lengths heat protectant and Aussie shampoo/conditioner. I’ve been seeing the wow shine spray recently, would that help smooth it out? Or are there alternatives people would reccommend? I want to really start taking care of my hair and looking like I put more effort in every day!

The frizz isn’t anything too major but I just want nice smooth hair, it gets oily at the scalp within 1-2 days but the mid-ends are dry but that might be a result of hair dye from two years ago

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Advice for dry & frizzy hair

Post image
6 Upvotes

I haven’t touched a pair of straightens for a whole year now. The new hair has grown in a bit wavy and very frizzy. I’ve always had a bit of frizz and my parents have curly and wavy hair. I would straighten it weekly and that’s all I’ve remembered since being a teen. I think the damage is notable and you can see where the ends are dead and straight.

My hair is VERY dry (bottom pics are after a wash!) I only use a basic shampoo and conditioner which I know I need to research on. I’ve tried many brands and haven’t had much change. I am really keen to learn but find there is SO much and I’d love some advice on the basics. I’m willing to try products and things or even cut my hair. I would just like to feel happy with my natural hair and know how to look after it.

I don’t know where to start. I would be greatful for any advice on my hair

🍃 Hair Loss 🍃 Hair loss from autoimmune disorder

Hi everyone. I was recently diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease and anemia of chronic disease (looking for the cause), as well as a few other issues. Unfortunately for me, this means hair loss. I had thick hair just a few months ago, and now I have lost quite a bit of hair. I have very fine hair, so that makes it even more noticeable. Plus, just in the past few months, I have started finding silver hairs. That part I dont need advice about, just complaining.

We are working on getting all of my issues under control (which has included an iron infusion) and thyroid meds and diet changes. Is there anything I can do to keep the hair loss down while we wait and see if it grows back? I was looking at Pantene's abundant and strong serum ... but I don't want to buy it if it isn't worth it.

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Idk what to do with my hair

I’m really open to any suggestions at all. Currently my routine is, I wash may hair, either using native shampoo and conditioner or the castor oil kitsch shampoo and conditioner. Ounce out of the shower il dry my hair a bit with just a normal towel then I use garnier leave in conditioner and one of there hair oils ( I added photos of the 2 I used). I brush my hair through put my bangs in rollers and typically let my hair air dry, I do sometimes blow dry it.

I don’t really know what my hair type is I think maybe 2A, my hairs tends to be pretty frizzy and my hair is low porosity and pretty thick. I currently have layers in my hair and bangs with face framing pieces

I added photos of all the products I use and of my hair which I washed tdy and have the products I listed in it, any suggestions would be great.
