Help & Questions Boosting/cleaning digital signal on Hue strips
I have some hardwired accent led strips in a built in bookshelf (4 x 1M strips) that are failing. They are old DALS analog RGBW (5 pin connections, 24ga ribbon wire) that appear to be wired in parallel, home run to a single controller.
Can I substitute a Hue Flux digital RGB strip (since it is 4 pin). I can cut the 5m Flux into 4 strips and wire it manually. I don’t mind if all the 4 strips have mirrored light patterns. There will be 2-3 meters of wire from the controller to the start of each strip. I have rad that the 5V data signal wire may degrade with this setup.
Is there any way to mitigate this ? I know there are digital “boosters” available but apparently the ones out there (ex BTF SP901E) follow a different digital protocol (SPi) that will not work with Hue ecosystem. I have heard about inserting resistors after the controller to improve signal.
Any ideas to swap out these strips to Hue digital (so I can tune the white channel) without rewiring ?
