Question Any Chance to win that game

I’m currently playing as the French in the Industrial Era and I’m in second place with around 14.5k Fame. The Zulu are leading with about 19.9k Fame.

As you can see in the screenshots, the Zulu control almost an entire continent, while I also have a fairly large empire. We’re both still in the Industrial Era and could advance, but the Zulu AI tends to stay in each era for a very long time and keeps collecting Fame.

Militarily, I think we’re probably roughly equal at the moment. I’m wondering what the best strategy would be from here.

Should I prepare for a major war and try to take some of their most important cities and territories? Or would it be better to focus on science, production and collecting more Era Stars first?

Since I’m playing the French, I have a strong science economy and I’m hoping I can use that to gain a technological advantage before going to war.

Do you think this game is still winnable despite the ~5,000 Fame gap? And if you were in my position, what would you do over the next 10–20 turns?

Any advice on army composition, which technologies to prioritize, when to advance to the Contemporary Era, and whether I should attack the Zulu now or wait would be really appreciated.

Discussion Humankind 2 - Improvements

What improvements are you looking forward to/hoping for the most? I really hope we see better diplomacy systems. Also, something like the demographics interface from Civ 5. I think it's weird you can only see how you're doing in all matters compared to the other civs once the game is over.

As the title says I finished what is in my opinion the most difficult and time consuming achievement. If you want to do it I can give you my experience and advice.

Question Any working mods for historical scenarios?

Post image

Hey everyone 👋 Is there any way to play this map on the current version of the game? I followed the instructions, but the game gives me an error whenever I try to load it.

Alternatively, do you guys know of any working mods that recreate historical scenarios?

Here’s the link to the map: https://mod.io/g/humankind/m/world-war-i20#description

Discussion Optimistic feel about sequel decision

I was quite shocked about the reveal, but now I'm quite optimistic about Amplitude decision on HK sequel so soon after the release of another big land based 4X sequel (Endless Legend 2).

I think they are fairly confident on the changes they implemented to fix the major issues with the game after years of feedback, especially about making culture transition more organic, smooth, coherent and based on meaningful choices. But also about having other empires look like living and engaging entities, more than colors with territory.

Based on these changes, they want to seize the opportunity to "steal" a big chunk of CIV player base after the VII fiasco....and they can do it only if they are confident on the next iteration of the game.

I think they could have gone with a new endless space as a "safe" choice, but this opportunity is just too big.

Question Does someone have a somewhat up to date tier list for cultures?

Hey everyone I played when the game first came out. But there have been many updates since then and I finally picked up everything with the deep discount on steam.

Does someone have a good tier list? At least for the first 3 ages so I know what's decent versus the AI.

Discussion I brought this game on a whim and now am two playtroughs deep sent help

Title. Brought it because of announcement + discount thinking it was going to be a refund or a lil game I play for a couple of hours and now I’m hooked. Technically not two full playtroughs deep because the first one was simple Pangea+small map where I vassalized everybody but whatever this game is awesome, it’s been a long time since I finished a playtrough in civ/AoW and wanted to jump right into another playtrough

Discussion Idea for Humankind 2: custom civilization

Basically you get to make an optional so you can still play real civilizations where you can make custom units or choose from a roster. custom buildings or from a roster. choose a buff like inspiration, money, etc. As well as more expansive map building but thats just extra.

Mods Any mods worth using?

Just bought Humankind at long last and am wondering if there's anything like the Community Patch for Endless Legends for it.

On the Steam workshop I found two that seem interesting:

VIP Modpack

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2967564073

and the Official Endless™ Mod

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3119101589

Are they good?

Do they play nice with each other? The Endless mod says not to use any others.

Any others I should consider?

Discussion Please, don't make cities be sprawling suburbia that cover the map

Humankind 1, Civ 6+7 and Millenia all have gone on this gameplay vision of covering the map with giant suburban looking cities. Sometimes there are more urban than rural hexes, which is crazy. This is not beautiful, realistic or inspiring.

Cities should ideally be tiny and multiple in number, surrounded by vast swathes of rural and natural landscapes. This is the vision that should go forward.

Question New player expansions to get advice

Hi, just seen the game is in a Steam sale and I'm going to try it. I just wondered if any particular expansion packs really make the game better, there seems to be a lot of them.

I've played Civ 5 before and know some expansions greatly helped that game. Many thanks.

Discussion My thoughts about Humankind

I’ve poured countless hours into Humankind, and the one thing that always held the game back for me was the AI. On normal difficulty it barely exists, and on the highest difficulty it becomes a bully with absurd bonuses. When the AI sends a four‑unit army to conquer me before I’ve even produced my first unit, that’s not strategy - that’s a rigged match.

I’ve beaten the hardest difficulty, but it never felt fair. The AI is aggressive because it knows it’s stronger, not because it’s smarter.

And the pacing… eras fly by so quickly you barely get to enjoy them. Mods help, but they often break balance, and in the final era the AI seems to lose its edge entirely.

Still, Humankind is a brilliant game with a unique soul. I really hope Humankind 2 brings better AI, better pacing, and a more even playing field. I’ll be waiting for it with excitement.

Discussion PUMPED!

As an OG fan of the game (as many of you) - I'm pumped to see a second game - and I am a victim to myself for overhyping and overpromising when reading features or seeing screenshots (looking at you Civ VII)

But if I could ask please please please let's not go backwards, I love Humankind but I'm sure we all remember how broken the Pollution mechanic was (and might still be) thank the Devs for bringing an option to toggle that off. I remember building a train station and an airport and seeing my huge-map world plummet into a climate crisis.

My earliest concern, and yes, I know it's too early to judge, but "mother nature can be your greatest ally or the most ruthless obstacle." Sounds cool, and believe it should be a mechanic, but so should geo-politics between ideologies, proxy-wars, splintering nation, nuclear stockpiles, etc.

I hope there are more ways to exert influence instead of just warring with your neighbors, I hope we get a major expansion on the leader relationship system.

I trust the devs, I def don't trust myself because I will be way to hype to contain my imagination, but I trust the devs...

SUPER PUMPED FOR HUMANKIND II - LET'S GO!!

Question How is Mac performance?

Hi all! I'm thinking of picking up HK1 with the current sale going on as I've been wanting to try it out for a while, but I've been seeing quite some older discussions about problems people were having with running the game on Mac. Is this an ongoing problem, or can the game be enjoyed on mac without too many crashes and glitches? Cheers!
