Question Need help understanding argentinians

Hi. I just ended a war and i'm trying to improve economically since the war was expensive. I'm trying to understand what does the "saladero" do but I don't really get it. It says that it helps with the consumption of units, but how does that actually affect in the game? Like, is my gold mantainance a 10% cheaper? I think either the word "consumption" (consumo in spanish) is quitte broad, I don't know the consumption mechanic yet or there's a translation mistake. It also says that is a economic civilization, but where is the impact on economy? Is the extra slot for citizens and the economic ability enough to replace a disctric of another economic civilization? Tnx in advance :).

Each Saladero is a tradable resource that every other civ is gonna wanna pay you for access to, plus with how you can build 1 per district, you can gain big money fast

The consumption reduction is on the amount of food consumed by your army, it doesn't give you money directly but allows your cities to grow quicker since they'll spend less of their food on upkeep, the beef itself is a luxury that you AIs can buy which can make you a lot of money, especially with trade infrastructure

On a computer with the most recent update the saladero decreases food consumption by units on the city the units are based. There is a 10% bonus decrease from having the first saladero and an extra 2% for each saladero on top of that 10%. Up until the last patch or two the bonus wasn't for food consumption by units, but a reduction in the gold to maintain units. I don't know how the patches work on console, but the console version of the game might not have the update that switched the benefit from unit gold maintenance to unit food maintenance.

The Argentinans used to be economic from the extra merchant slots and the unit gold maintenance, but now it's only the extra merchant slots. They seem more like an agriculture culture in the current patch.

For the updated version of the game where the Argentinans give the unit food consumption benefit, if you have a lot of cities that have unpopulated merchants and your unit food consumption is large, then you'd get a gold boost from being able to more fully populated the city. However, if food isn't currently limiting the number of merchant slots you fill, then there won't be much of a benefit right away.

If you are using an older version of the game where the Argentinans give the unit gold maintenance reduction, then you look at the unit gold maintenance and see how much gold it is. Then the first saladero reduces that by 12%. Having 5 total saladeros reduces it 20%.

The image is cut off, but it looks like you have a person symbol so I'm going to guess your version is current and the Argentinans have the food consumption benefit. If so, they are not really an economic culture anymore.

Yeah, the image is cut off, sorry about that. But, you're right, my version is the current one and it has the food consumption benefit. Thank you for the whole explanation. Honestly, I think the gold maintenance reduction was better for the culture to be considered economic, maybe they should rename it as an agricultural civ.

I have seen several places where the game uses the word "consumption," and it isn't clear what is being consumed. Seems like it is always food.
