What to expect? University experience to college

Hey everyone, starting my first semester here at North campus next week, in the Law Clerk program. Might switch to paralegal program but thats besides the point. Just wondering what to expect with this campus as a male first year student well into their late 20s. I graduated from Uni like 4 years ago and decided to shift career direction. Im assuming its going to be tough to make connections with everyone around me almost 10 years younger than me, but I could be wrong.

Trying to return to school

Trying to return after Academic Withdrawal from poor grades but to a new department.

I had my first semester in September of 2023 and I failed after my first semester due to family issues alongside financial, physical, and mental health complications.

Initially i immediately applied for the rebound program but it was unfortunately filled up at the period so I decided to take a semester off and use it in trying to get my life together alongside considering whether the pathway i was on was what I truly wanted.

One thing turned to another and the single gap semester turned into 3 years.

But now i have gotten myself in shape and I was wondering what steps I could do to both get back into school but at the same time change my current department of study. I was also planning to start by January next year if possible.

So i need help with an advisor on what field of study i should do instead of my previous one and how i could return back in general.

Any advice would be appreciated.

North Campus Humber Arboretum Welcome Events

Hello new and returning students,

Did you know that North Campus has 100-hectares of public gardens and nature trails as its backyard? Humber Arboretum exists as a tri-partnership between Humber Polytechnic, the City of Toronto, and Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA). We're open to everyone (not just the campus community) and free to visit.

This month we have some events just for Humber and UofGH students and staff:

  • If you're already on campus, join us tomorrow (September 2) or on September 16 for our Wednesday Welcome Walks, which are a general introduction to the Arb
  • On Wednesday September 9, bring your travel mug and grab some coffee before joining us for a morning bird walk
  • On Thursday September 10, we'll be indoors with a drop-in session to play some nature-themed board games
  • And on September 15 & 18 we have combination tours and info sessions for Faculty who are interested in incorporating nature into their syllabus

Details on all of these events are available on our website: https://humber.ca/arboretum/events.html

While there are many access points around campus, our main entrance (where the fanciest gardens are) is next to Residence Building T, across from the exit to Parking Lot 1.

Here's a student-made video on how to find us: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAJHFmbkkGk

We run events out of the Centre for Urban Ecology (CUE), which is this glass building with the red door at the top of the path to the right of our front entrance:

Centre for Urban Ecology (CUE)

You can find us on Instagram, Facebook, and Bluesky as "@humberarb" or drop by the CUE anytime during regular Humber hours to say hi and see what's up.

Welcome (back) to campus, and don't forget to spend some time outside this year!

Parking in North Campus

Hello..

I was just wondering where people park in North Campus because I just found out the absurd amount of money you need to pay for parking daily, not to mention per semester if you want to park every day

I am thinking of residential areas but I couldnt find any that either doesnt have a no parking sign (residential) or private property (plaza)

Does everyone just take the bus now or do you guys have a tech to not get towed or fined
