let automod rules live in multiple yaml files in the wiki. it would make complex rulesets easier to handle

one large file is hard to read und you possibly break everything by messing one thing up.

As a person with open DMs, I would like to be able to vet potential chatters before I engage with them, by seeing their post and comment history, even if it's hidden. The method would be a toggle that the user could click to reveal all content to specific user only.

Before reddit allowed users to hide some or all of their post and comment history, it was easy to get a sense of what an unknown user was like based on their posts and comments. Obviously it's not a complete picture, but it was very helpful in deciding whether or not to accept a chat request. Now most users hid their content.

Now it's virtually impossible. Yes you can find some of their content via username search, but usually not much. And if it's a comment buried in a post with 200 comments, that's useless.

The button could be added to the Curate your Profile section in Settings. Under Hide All, another button would says "Reveal all to specific user" with a field to enter the user name. Ideally, it would also be available as an option when the "Start chat" button is clicked.

This allows a full vetting prior to chat. If a unknown chatter refuses to reveal, then one could simply not interact with them.

Nowadays when we use reddit, when we see a video we often have an intuition that it may be AI. In such cases, one can make a comment asking other people if they also feel that it is AI, or look for such a comment among comments. But I feel like I want to do it under many videos and some images. So I suggest making it default and automatic. So that for every video people may vote if they think it is AI or not.

The problem:

When Reddit's spam filter flags an account, users can get vague messages such as "pattern of spamming identical posts" or "suspected involvement in scams". The problem is that they don't know exactly what caused the flag.

This creates a few problems:

1. Users can't learn from their mistake if they don't know what was flagged.
2. Genuine users who are asking questions in several relevant subs, with no links or promotions, can't tell what caused the issue. Was it how often they posted, using the same wording, posting in too many subs, or something else?
3. Appeals become harder because users don't know what they need to explain or clarify.

My idea:

When an account is flagged for spam, Reddit could show users some basic information about what triggered the flag, such as:

• Which posts or comments triggered it
• What the system detected, for example, "same text posted in 5+ subs within 24 hours"
• Whether the issue was related to the number of posts, the number of subs, or repeated wording
• A simple explanation of what type of behaviour is likely to be treated as spam

Reddit wouldn't need to reveal exactly how the spam filter works. Even a basic explanation would make things much clearer.

Why I think this would help:

• Genuine users would know what they need to change.
• People could avoid making the same mistake again.
• Appeals would be more useful because users would know what they need to explain.
• It would reduce confusion when someone's activity didn't feel like spam to them.
• It could also help separate genuine mistakes from actual spam campaigns.

Example from my situation:

My 2nd account was flagged for "spamming identical posts" after I posted similar troubleshooting questions about a software tool in several relevant subs. I didn't realise that posting the same question in 4–5 relevant subs, even without links or promotions, could trigger the spam system.

If Reddit had shown me exactly what caused the flag, I could have changed how I posted or given a more useful explanation in my appeal.

Dear reddit team,

I checked the discussion on the issue on the coldturkey subreddit but did not find a solution.
As a porn-addict I really wish to not have access to nsfw.
Sadly, reddit has a really sloppy protection, which can be deactivated by an easy click. Also, the nsfw settings can be set outside of the account setting sites, which makes it impossible to use a website blocker as coldturkey to prevent oneself from changing the nsfw settings.

I would like one of these:
- no " yes I am over 18" button outside of the user settings
- a password protection to change these settings. I could just put in a random code to prevent myself from using these

- a tag in the url of nsfw contents, e.g. nsfw. This could be easily blocked by a url-based blocker.

Currently I try to use ublock origin for this, sadly, ublock also has no password protection. It is hard to get off this stuff, I would be very pleased for help.

...the head boarder of the immediate post before it is off the screen so people don't have to keep muting and unmuting to read a non media posts between 2 videos. As of now, it will hold 3 posts on my feed and if the middle post is just text that I'd like to read, I'll have to keep it scrolled down so the video above is playing and then press mute to read it and then scroll down and unmute to watch. Moreso of an issue because people/I typically put the one I'm paying attention to at/near the top so the video below end up being the muted/playing video and then I either skip it or have to click it to rewind it... it would be easier if the post above a post had the play feature for its media so we can have the post we are reading near the top and not have to do that dance 🙏

Many features are unavailable in the new “rich text”, such as superscript, and frankly the rich text format is just annoying to use

I came up with this idea when replying to a recent post where someone offered to draw people's in game characters for free. There's of course nothing wrong with this. However, I've also noticed that this results in people getting far more requests than they intended. Someone may be expecting to receive only 2 or 3 requests before returning to find 30+.

The obvious solution is just locking the post when it becomes too much for OP. Which is fine for the most part. However, I could imagine a situation where someone only wants to get a few (say, they'll draw the first 3 requests received) and they'll draw them at their own time and convenience. Sure, maybe they could post them as a separate post, but I personally feel it would be better if they could add them to the original post.

I could especially see this being useful with AMAs where someone may allow an hour or so to ask questions and then a mod could lock the thread so the person being asked could answer on their own time without being asked more questions to an overwhelming extent.

Now that I've typed this out, maybe there's a bot that could accomplish this type of thing, automatically removing replies from everyone except OP after the mods set the post into a "locked" state.

it would be where the only person who can give it is the owner or a specific group of people or something not other mods or anything like its a exclusive flair, this (from what im aware of) isn't possible and so i think it should be possible to give people flairs that only the owner can give as a option in the user flairs/post flairs menus, this would be very helpful

A simple recap could show a few lines of data all in one place and include all the communities you Mod.

As moderators, we can leave user notes. This is mainly to let our co mods know about a user's behaviour or actions while also being able to look back on it later.

I thought of the idea of doing the same thing but for posts. If we decide to let a (meme) post slide, we could leave a note on the post that only co mods can see with something like "don't remove" or "repost approved"

Another idea I had is showing OP's upvotes in the comments. If someone makes a post asking for advice, we often don't see OP respond to every single comment (I am guilty of that too). This feature would show that OP at least found the comment useful or appreciated it, without them having to reply to everyone in the thread. This is a feature on Tiktok, and it displays as "Liked by creator."

I know it's anti-engagement, which is social media's whole business model, but a 1000 day streak isn't really that healthy, maybe after all of that create a reward that encourages moderation after a user gets the big one? (the other kind of moderation)

There are some times when text to speech comes in really handy for me. For example when people write lengthy paragraphs, sometimes I have to put it in an external text to speech app as sometimes my attention drains and my eyes glaze over, and because of my disabilities it usually happens faster.

When I use text to speech apps, it's sometimes easier and quicker for me, and I can often understand it better vs than just reading. It would be nice to not have to use a 3rd party tool when reading can be hard, and a tool could be incorporated into Reddit.

I'd love to set opening and closing dates for mod application forms on Reddit. It'd be cool if there was also a response counter so the application closes automatically once we get enough responses. This would help me automate the community better and would be super helpful for moderators who sometimes forget to manually open and close mod applications themselves. This could totally go in the scheduled posts and events section in the mod tools. I also think we should be able to schedule multiple mod application events for the future to line up with our community's events, like seasonal traffic.

Imagine you could have a modmail but instead of only having mods and a single user in there you could create one modmail chat to multiple users and add and remove users from there too. This is specifically useful in my server where we provide volunteer support for a chat app and I would like to add officials from that chat app to specific modmails to get Infos without needing to be mods themselves.

From what I understand, downvoting is meant to flag a post as a violation of rules and notify mods, not disagree.

Downvoting lowers a person's 'karma points' on Reddit and that can cause that person to not be able to post in some subreddits.

It would be nice if Reddit could provide a different flag other than down arrow for reporting a post and allow people to not have to make the effort to reply in disagreement.

Not everyone is going to agree with everything posted on Reddit. This should not prevent you from being able to post.

Title says it all. Reddit updates all kinds of other stuff for no reason. Let’s make the icon the picture of a real icon.

I spend a lot of time on reddit, TikTok, and IG - all of these have videos over a min but only reddit doesn't allow you to increase the playback speed. I have intense ADHD and consume everything at 2x and 3x speed bc most conversational speech feels like it takes forever. It is a pretty standard feature on all the other apps I use - let's bringing it to reddit to increase engagement and allow my other short-attentioned brethren to get to the end of 5+ min video posts.

There are countless idiots and terrible people on this site and it makes me sad that my block list ran out of room a long time ago

Please can we have the ability to block specific flairs in specific subs. I collect figurines and it churns my stomach to see the “customisation” posts 😭 They murdered that perfectly good collectable 😭

At the very least the ability to filter out posts/flairs containing certain words.

If this is already something that can be done without a third party, then someone please let me know how. My feed is just figurine trauma 😭😅
