Question Rate my run

How am I doing, what should I improve on and what are my next steps. Also is my provincial loyalty ok? Tips to defeat Carthage?

Biggest tip for Carthage would be before you attack them improve relations with and obtain military access from a country somewhere in Africa or southern Iberia on the coast so you can set up your soldiers there and then attack them without worrying about naval landings. Don’t do it with one of their vassals bc I’m pretty sure you’ll get your soldiers exiled but if you mass your troops on the border then you can just use your ships as defense against Carthaginian naval invasions and bc your armies look bigger than Carthage’s you’ll fs win

Counterpoint: surrender to Carthage and acknowledge their brilliance and superiority!

Depends on what their ships and your levies are. 22k probably won’t be able solo carthage but if you raise your magna graecia and maybe greek levies you’ll probably be good. Especially if they haven’t integrated massaliya yet

Plus there’s decent income available so mercenaries are an option to boost the numbers.

As Rome it requires 3-4 wars to break down Carthage. But it can’t be done! Each time, use some war score to liberate some future allies. Spend the interwar years turning allies into clients. Roll em up

Carthage don’t matter. Ignore them, conquer other people with your religion and whichever cultures you’ve integrated. Conquer places with lots of cities. Basically head east. Carthage will never cause you any problems.

When you do come to Carthage focus on taking the city and make sure to take it as part of the peace settlement. After which they’ll be neutered in further wars and you can just steam roll them. Here Macedon have a nice tasty empire, so wipe them and integrate Macedonian. There are several wonders you’ll pick up in Asia Minor too.

Regarding Carthage it might even be good to let them expand a bit anyway as you can conquer them after they’ve spread their culture around, making them a good culture for integration.

Whereas whatever gets established in Syria / Persia will be big and strong if you dawdle and take real effort beating. Best to expand towards them early before they get too big and strong.

Plus, personally I cannot stand Hellenic bloat north of Thrace. So I always want to hit them early.
