Damaged insulation

House is about 7 years old, dealing with a leaky roof or HVAC stack…the water seems to enter the stack and goes through the HVAC tube to the utility closet, but this is the insulation around it. I don’t think it’s mold but wondering if I have to redo the insulation since it’s all open now.

Thanks!!

Well you can either dig the whole thing out of the foam and replace the sleeve, or just tape up the holes and call it a day. I recommend option 2.

I recommend trex duct tape, but that's only because of the project farm video. That video taught me not all duct tape is created equal.

I used it to tape up all the holes in my mobile home plastic sheathing underneath years ago. Worked great.

or use Zip Flashing tape because that is very sticky tape
