ALL I made a free, open-source app that puts Google Maps turn-by-turn on the KTM Gen-3 dash — no data collected
I ride a Gen-3 KTM and always wanted proper Google Maps navigation on the bike's dash without paying for or fussing with the official stuff. So I built OpenDash — a free, open-source companion app — as a hobby project, and figured I'd share it in case other riders find it useful.
🔗 GitHub (code + APK): https://github.com/Pavanayi1/opendash
What works today
Google Maps turn-by-turn on the dash (arrow, distance, road, ETA, remaining)
On-device AI that recognises the maneuver icon (roundabouts, U-turns, keep/fork, ramps) — Maps only sends a tiny arrow bitmap, so a small neural net running on your phone figures out the right dash icon
Notification mirroring to the dash
Handlebar remote as a gamepad to navigate your phone's apps
Symbol testing & turn-icon calibration
Coming soon: WhatsApp & other notifications, more nav apps.
Privacy: no accounts, no analytics, no servers, no data collection — everything runs on-device, nothing leaves your phone.
Known issue: auto-reconnect after ignition off/on is buggy — top thing I'm fixing, help welcome.
Hobby project — contributions very welcome (riders, testers, devs). And if you hit problems, open an issue or DM me your logs (Settings → View & share logs → Share).
Unofficial, not affiliated with KTM. Ride responsibly.

ALL Got this KTM Superduke R for 2000$
Got this KTM Superduke R 1290 2019 for 2000$ this summer.
It has 30000km. The owner was working in the military and didn’t ride it in the last 3 years. Was listed for 4000$ so i went to take a look. I tought it was a scam for sure. But the bike was real! The bike turned on but didn’t want to start. Offered 2000$ and he took it and gave me, battery tender, motorcycle jacket, AGV k6, rear stand, touring bags and more.
Things i had to do to put it back on the road: replaced levers, changed rear tire, charged the battery and a full fluid flush
I since did 4000km on it and really enjoy it!
Sometimes it’s not too good to be true!

ALL People are telling me to upgrade away from the KTM brand. Are they right?
I‘m quite happy with my 390 duke, but it’s time to upgrade soon. The problem is that seemingly everyone is telling me to not buy KTM again because of all their bad press on quality issues and the company not doing great financially.
Should this worry me? Did those of you who recently got a KTM worry about that?
Edit: In case this changes answers, I‘m looking into the adventure lineup specifically
Edit 2: thanks for all the replies. I‘ll get reading then
ALL For everyone saying I pressure washed my KTM wrong — here's the video
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
A lot of comments on my previous post assumed I was blasting the bike point-blank with an industrial pressure washer. Here's the actual footage. Normal car wash, reasonable distance, nothing crazy. I even tested the pressure on my hand before washing, it wasn't anything aggressive.
That said I'm not completely off the hook. Water did get into the spark plug wells, caused corrosion in the coil contact, and likely contributed to the terminal breaking off the inner plug. So while I wasn't hosing it down like a maniac, the pressure wash still did damage https://imgur.com/a/hP4TP1F
A lot of people suggested bucket and sponge, but in Switzerland outdoor washing is basically illegal and self-service car washes are the only realistic option. Not exactly a garden hose situation.

ALL Sold my 2019 superduke (6k) for this 2020 Superduke (7k)
If any of you remember, i was the guy who got his 2019 Superduke 1290 for 2k$. Kept it one year and i wanted to try a Gen 3 because i heard the chassis was much better. I also wanted to try a Superduke with the Tech pack.
So this week i sold my Superduke 2019 for 6k$ to a friend and bought this 2020 for 7k$.
Im also really glad that the previous owner spent all this money on powerpart option and not me. The previous owner saw the powerpart catalogue and said YES.
Mod list:
-Full titanium exhaust
-Akrapovic tune
-tech pack
-Powerpart Gilles rearset
-rear seat pillion cover carbon
-powepart anodized triple tree
-generic flasher
-Yoshimura tail tidy
-racetorx gear shift support
-evotech radiator guard
-KTM powerpart windshield
-KTM powerpart levers
-SAS delete
-comfort rider seat
-comfort passenger seat
-KTM rear stand
-Front stand
-Tank bag KTM
I checked online and the options are close to 8k alone! So it’s like i paid for the options and got a free bike with it.
Only thing i might change on it is the mirrors for bar end.
ALL TurnIt: Turn by Turn Navigation for KTM & Husqvarna
Hello everyone o/
Im a Software Developer by day and KTM Rider by night. I ride a Gen3 390 Duke and a Gen2 390 Adventure. I got some spare time lately and an Idea... and what started as Proof of Concept to see if I could use the built in Turn by Turn navigation on my Gen3 Duke, ended up being a full fledged App.
Quick disclaimer: I am the dev of TurnIt, this is a hobby project and it is not affiliated with KTM or Husqvarna or any other brand in any way.
What it does: it reads the turn-by-turn directions your navigation app already shows on your phone and forwards the arrow, distance and road name to the bike's TFT dash over Bluetooth. Same idea as My Ride, but you pick the navigation app.
Supported so far: Google Maps, TomTom GO, OsmAnd, Kurviger, Calimoto, Organic Maps, CoMaps and Locus Map. Since I ride in a lot in places where there is no (or very bad) coverage, map apps with full offline mode had prio (I personally use TomTom Go).
When not navigating, It shows the current music track on the dash (or nothing, choose in the Seetings). The App also reconnects on its own when you switch the ignition on, even with the app closed.
Some Info about the App:
- Google Maps is free. The other seven navigation apps, zero power background reconnect and multi-bike are a one-time unlock. No subscription, no account, no ads, nothing leaves your phone.
- Roundabout arrows on some of the Apps are an educated guess (Google Maps, TomTom and Kurviger are 100% accurate). Most navigation apps only tell the app which exit to take, not which direction it points, so it assumes an evenly spaced roundabout and gets it right roughly 7-8 times out of 10. The exit number shown next to the road name on the dash is always exact. At a weird three-arm roundabout the arrow can look wrong.
- Some bike models never had the dash navigation display enabled from the factory and no app can add that. If the navigation option is missing from your dash menu, it will not work.
- Your phone has to be connected to the bike in Android's Bluetooth settings, the normal way you would for calls and music.
Android only. Try it with Google Maps for free first and see whether your bike plays along before you spend anything.
Id also love to hear any feedback from you guys and specially from Husqvarna riders, since those are harder to find to test.

ALL 990 RCR Low Visibility At Night
Any other 990 RCR owners finding themselves being cut off at incredible rates at night?
I think a lot of people are not recognizing the headlight as a motorcycle, maybe because of the way it is angled, and the fact that it’s a small headlight. Doesn’t help that full aftermarket exhausts aren’t readily available.
Friend of mine with a 990 RCR is reporting the same issue.
Have ridden at night many of times, but never experienced this level of getting cut off repeatedly.

ALL $1000 for oil change and new battery
Brought my Duke 890 into the shop because service light came on around the 2000km mark (I had also had it serviced once after I broke it in)
I didn’t maintain battery and it’s dead so they’re replacing it for about $250, but other than that the only real work they did was oil change.
I asked what ‘general service’ includes and it’s basically a look over I could have done myself with the manual. Checking everything is tight and lubed.
What a rip off

ALL Go with an RC 390 or another type of sport bike?
Ive been riding Harleys the past 5 years. My Harley Low Rider S is an 1800 CC. But I REALLY like the RC390 after learning about them & how fun they still are, even by experienced riders. I want to pull the trigger on one but worried if I will regret not getting a sport bike with a bigger engine considering im used to the power/heaviness of Harleys. Ive always wanted a cool sport bike, & really luv the KTM design...unlike no other. Any suggestions or input would be greatly appreciated. 🙏🏽

ALL Test rode the RC R...are we back?
Some context here, long time KTM fan all the way back in the 640 days. My first real love was my 2007 990 Super Duke. So much torque, character, the sound, and the hardware! My 2007 KTM had braided steel brake lines and Brembo brakes from the factory. The flagship R1 race bike had rubber lines until...like 2015? It was those little things that KTM gave you as standard because that's just what people wanted.
Fast forward to today. My dealer got a new RC R in, so I checked it out. The usual WP suspension...but wait, I can also adjust the preload on the forks? Nice. Yup, Brembo calipers and... holy shit, a Brembo RCS master as standard?? Again, its going back to those little things. They let me go on a quick test ride and I had more fun on the RC R than I did on a Panigale V2S.
Genuinely excited to try out the 990 Duke R as well, and would highly encourage you to give the new KTM's a shot. Yes, the tech pack is annoying, but the bike is genuinely good and fun to ride, with hardware that's pretty surprising on a $13K bike. Are we finally back?

ALL White or Orange,
It’s been almost a month I have booked the ktm 390 adv (350cc) white colour.
The showroom peeps say that they are not receiving white colour from the company end and are only getting the orange ones.
I’m asked to wait for more time for the white colour,
should I switch to orange and take the bike or should I wait.

ALL Help me Replace a 1290SAR Sized Mistake
Hear me out.
Once upon a time I decided to sell my 1290SAR. I loved the bike, but ended up not doing as much offroad as I planned. I tried a couple times and quickly realized I prefer the enduros I had previously over this and would probably never do offroad touring.
As a commuter, its height/weight combo (even for a 34” inseam) wasn’t ideal and its street handling left a little to be desired. I wanted better street handling, slightly less weight:height ratio.
But I miss it dearly. Its height on my highway commute provided endless visibility. Its power made merging and passing a breeze. Aesthetically, it was sick. The LC8 made great sounds and the low end torque never got old. The giant dirtbike feel was great and in hindsight, the handling was pretty acceptable. I think I loved her?
Everytime I appreciate the SAR and ask whats next, I hear the 1290SAS is an obvious choice. Maybe, but boy shes a little ugly if you ask me. The 1290gt seems like a great time but I got so used to the ADV comfort, will it be cramped? Oh then I remembered the 890smt, lots of power and comfort in a backroads bomber build.
Help me narrow in. Im a fair weather commuter thats only about 30 miles freeway. I want the ability to do 6+ hour trips without wanting to jump off. Storage is valuable. Comfortable is desirable. Great handling is ideal. Id look at non-KTMs but I have Stockholm’s Syndrome I think.
