Active Build Questions Intake recommendations

Turbo 5.3 that revs to 7k. Looking for recommendations that is not just the holley high ram. I know the high ram or the lxr fast would make the most power but I'm not cutting the hood. I do like the look of no hood though to be honest.

I went round and round with same thing. Ended up with a cheap tbss intake I found in the junk yard. It makes best power per dollar for rpm ranges

I have one that I am not against using. It has a 3800 stall so I would like to utilize the higher rpm that I actually am usually in.

Tbss if it will fit. It’s pretty tall.

The TBSS intake is superior if not running a high rise or equivalent.

Standard FAST lsx. It will suit you well.

Did you have to use the body control module for this or wire it straight from the computer?

You need the body control module for the high beam indicator, tow haul and the battery charging gauge, but funny enough not the battery charging light, that comes from the pcm.

I have 04 stuff and picked up an 04 Impala gauge cluster that doesn’t have volts. I really want it to work. Looks good in there 👍

Are you certain it's the intake manifold?

I don't know if it is any shorter but the Dorman 615-183 is actually an outstanding intake. If you can find a genuine Dorman (they have been copied) it could be an option. The throttle body will be in the same position as your current intake. A passenger car intake (LS2, LS6) will be lower, but the throttle body will probably not clear your water pump and accessories.

Packard I only want to change intakes to take advantage of the 3800 stall I have. The hood does rub on the engine cover a tiny bit i just took the cover off to get the hood to close all the way. Ive watched a ton a dyno videos on intakes but want people's opinions on intakes they have used in seminar setups that work.

In my honest opinion, if you have a turbo and you need the 3800 stall converter, you have a mismatched combo. But ok, maybe you like that. From the standpoint of the pressure wave, with enough boost you can still get more rpm from the stock truck intake. You might consider a different cam if it's not working well for you.

You are not wrong the converter is pretty loose. I had spec it from circle d with the intention of being able to foot brake it off the line at the track. But the car is super fun and works really well just like it is. There is nothing wrong with the way it drives now. I just thought I should look into a higher rpm intake is all.

Either a FAST intake if you can afford it or the TBSS. You can find some pretty decent covers for the TBSS as it is pretty ugly.

I have the TBSS intake on my 71 C10 with 6.0/4L80E with sloppy stage 2 cam and 2900rpm stall. I originally had the Holley hi ram and it was a big difference when switching to the TBSS especially in the lower RPM’s. I’m currently almost 350whp.
