News September 2026 Build Challenge | "SHIPTEMBER" 🚀

THIS IS IT, PEOPLE! This is why this subreddit exists! I created this community in November last year, right after Shiptember 2025, because I loved it so much that I wanted to have Shiptember every month, every week, every day.

And it's gonna be HARD. But I want to see how many incredible we get during this month. If any at all :D

So to reiterate, the theme for September is:

“Shiptember”

If you don't know what Shiptember is, it's when the whole Lego community goes crazy and builds spaceships that are 100+ studs long. Or tall. It's a big undertaking and I'm not expecting too many entries. On the other hand, there are no other constraints!

Rules:

  • Create a spaceships that is 100+ studs long or tall
  • It can be a battleship, luxury transporter, shuttle, or anything else that flies through space
  • The build can be made in Bricklink Studio
  • It doesn't have to be an original build you made for this challenge - if your older MOC fits, post it
  • You can post a maximum of 3 entries

You have until Monday, September 21st to post your entries with the "Build Challenge Entry" post flair.

As always, a poll will be posted at the end of the challenge so that you can decide what the best build was.

The winner will get a unique User Flair they will be able to show off on r/LegoSpaceships (and maybe on r/spaceships too if they decide to post their entry there as well), and their creation will also be spotlighted on our Instagram.

I seriously can't wait for your entries this time and I hope as many of you as possible will join. This is the true holiday for Lego spaceship enthusiasts!

MOC - Instructions Available UNSC Pillar of Autumn C-709 [Reach]

Well, it took a long time, but here she is, the one and only Pillar of Autumn! Personally speaking, there are so many different styles for the ship, ranging from Halo: CE, Halo: CE Remastered, Halo: Reach and Halo: CEÂł again. I opted for the Reach version, as this is the best-looking and best-styled version of the ship that captures the 'human spirit' throughout the franchise.

The ship itself has often been built with Lego, so I didn't expect it to be unique, but it's nevertheless a build that needed to be tackled!

So where do I start? First off, this build is smaller than my usual builds. While I often start with the UCS route, this one is in scale with other ships that follow step by step. Therefore it's only 56 cm long, and frankly it's a nice size! It offers room for distinct details while also not being unreasonably large or expensive. It's also shelf-sized!

The funny thing is that the build has something like internals! It hides two hangars, one in the lower back/middle and the obvious one in the middle. It's also very stable and swooshable for those who don't want a display-only ship! (But it's meant to be a display ship!)

Some of you may notice a slight difference between the real-life ship and the render. This is due to missing parts and some reworks during the building process. The good news is that it's fully built and tested!

And I guess that's all! Thank you for reading this, and have an amazing day! Cheers!

Hey Hey! First post here and pretty much anywhere!

Anyways, this is a moc based on the interstellar spaceship Lego made a few years ago (I even kept the boost feature)! I've been working on it for around a year now and I finally feel it's complete. :)

One of the most annoying things was trying to figure out the cockpit windshield. Out in the speed champions Bugatti centodieci set. Pretty sure it's exclusive.

Ps. Sorry about bed pov, my desk is pretty cluttered atm.

"'Side Saddle' class light freight vessels are perfect for small crews just breaking into the cargo businesses or star hopping merchants looking for a quick buck anywhere they go."

Whipped this up mostly with parts from the Exotic Parrot 3 in 1 creator set. I'm very happy with the working crane arms, especially with how the containers can be grabbed without removing them from the side.

When Cobra Industries received the contract for a new high speed interceptor, they built the fastest conventional drive telhey could and then strapped two of them to the hull of a ship designed for speed alone.

Then someone reminded them it was supposed to be an Interceptor.

So they went back to the shipyard, mounted a twin turbo cannon backwards into the nose and stuck the engines on a pivot to allow the ship to fire its weapon by "standing up". Then they slapped some countermeasure launchers on the underside and called it a day.

The design was ultimately rejected for combat use but the Cobra Interstellar Racing team had a record winning season.

MOC - Instructions Available Custom Lego MOC Dioramas of The Orville, Futurama and Galaxy Quest

LEGENDS is back for Volume 5.

This time we’re jumping between three very different flavours of sci-fi comedy: a pristine exploratory starship, a barely roadworthy delivery vessel, and a ship crewed by actors who really weren’t expecting any of this to be real.

As ever, each build combines an iconic vehicle, a recognisable scene from its world and a full set of Character Studdies™.
__________

THE ORVILLE: USS Orville

First up, the USS Orville.

At this scale, the big challenge was getting those three engine rings, the layered hull and the very particular silhouette of the ship to still read properly without turning the whole thing into something enormous.
Below it is the bridge as it appears in New Horizons, with the updated shinier interior, central command area and the crew assembled across the front.

Character Studdies™ include Ed Mercer, Kelly Grayson, Bortus, Claire Finn, Alara Kitan, Gordon Malloy, John LaMarr, Isaac and Yaphit.
__________

FUTURAMA: Planet Express Ship

Good news, everyone!

The Planet Express Ship - Old Bessie herself - gets probably the most colourful LEGENDS display yet. The scene is the Planet Express headquarters on 72nd Street in New New York, complete with the city skyline behind it and that huge, unmistakable Futurama starburst filling the background.

There’s also a little hidden extra: pop the side of the building off and you’ll find Hermes, Zapp Brannigan and Kif tucked away inside.

Out front are Character Studdies™ of Fry, Leela, Professor Farnsworth, Bender, Amy and Dr. Zoidberg.
__________

GALAXY QUEST: NSEA Protector

Never give up. Never surrender.

The NSEA Protector sits above Epsilon Gorniar II, where things have gone somewhat less smoothly for Commander Peter Quincy Taggart. The scene recreates the wonderfully stupid rock monster chase, with Gorignak lumbering after Taggart across the planet surface.

And because this is Galaxy Quest, there is also an extra tan piece included for anyone who feels the scene is more authentic with Taggart inexplicably topless. Though they weren't on the planet, I've included a cutaway to the ship with Mathesar and Laliari watching over the events. 'HaaAAAaaAA-aaa-aa-aaaa...' indeed.

Character Studdies™ include Commander Peter Quincy Taggart, Lt. Tawny Madison, Dr. Lazarus, Tech Sgt. Chen, Crewman #6, Lt. Laredo, Mathesar and Laliari.

NB: Due to a few crazy expensive pieces, I've slightly adjusted the rock monster design.
__________

Three more little worlds squeezed into the LEGENDS format.

The Orville. Planet Express. NSEA Protector.

What should be in Volume 6?

Event horizon is a pretty cool sci fi horror from 1997 - I have seen a couple built, but didn’t feel they were very ominous. Here is my own built from a moc 8 ball and a STARWARS nebula medical cruiser set.
