Help I AM SO SICK AND TIRED. help me with smart tempo

Upvotes

So I've been punching walls for 45 minutes straight. I cannot for the life of figure out smart temp after apparently a new update I'm guessing. previously I could analyse the tempo without any god damn issues at all, it would analyse it and nothing more. then I could apply region tempo to project tempo and it would all rainbows and flowers, then I could also set downbeat hints with no issues and then press apply changes and the changes would apply to the tempo in the tempo track perfectly.

Now, EVERY SINGLE TIME I click analyse audio or apply changes after setting a downbeat or beat hint freaking Flex turns on without me wanting it to, and it fucks up the whole tempo, moving my audio file everywhere and the audio slowing and getting faster everywhere (I know why it does that, that's what flex does, but I don't want flex to turn on) I just literally want to conform the project tempo to my audio file without having flex turn on. I just freaking want to move and change the project tempo without the tempo of my audio file changing and I want to be able to just click apply changes after setting downbeat hints without my whole audio file moving 5 bars to the left basically and fucking up the tempo and alignment and where I've deliberately put it in my project. no fucking way this is how it's supposed to be. I literally can't even place down a downbeat hint. because if I do, Flex turns on and ruins my entire audio file by moving it anywhere it fucking wants and trying to conform it to my project tempo with the tempo it thinks the audio file has. please I'm about to go insane here. I've tried this for so god damn long I'm tired. I just want to put downbeat hints like I could before.

Question Recording with an aggregate device

Upvotes

I run a podcast and I’m transitioning from using an audio interface to using logic. I’m trying to have 2 shure mv7+ mics record at the same time but only one is working. They’re both unmuted and I combined them into an aggregate device with the same sample rate and drift correction on. The aggregate device is selected in logic. What am I doing wrong?

Help Vital synth won’t load through Logic after Mac Tahoe update

Vital synth has always worked fine for me through Logic until my Mac automatically updated to Tahoe. It opens in the standalone app, but everything I wrote using it in my projects is no longer audible, and it just gets stuck loading if I try to open it. This is really upsetting as it kind of ruins countless projects of mine.
I’ve troubleshooted and tried everything that came up on google, including opening it through Rosetta, deleting “com.logic.pro.plist” files, updating Logic, updating Vital, restarting (obviously) and more. Does anyone know of a fix?

Question I accidentally turned all my midi notes orange?

I accidentally turned my midi notes all this red-orange, and it is not related to the velocity (at least im pretty sure), as changing the velocity does not change the color of the note. i always accidentally hit buttons because Im very new, but it hasnt gone away when I create a new project. Anyone know what I did and how to fix it? Lol.. thank you in advance

Help Looking for someone to give me a basic lesson on using Logic Pro

Hi! I recently switched from GarageBand to LogicPro to produce my vocal arrangements. It is proving to be a little challenging. Would anyone be willing to hop on a call to walk me through the basics (I really mean the basics - stuff like adjusting recording level and reverb). I would greatly appreciate it!

Tips & Tricks How we start our Logic Pro live rig from backstage

Logic is basically the hub of our entire live setup. Our MacBook connects to a Behringer Wing over USB, and the Wing receives all of our playback stems directly from Logic.

From there, everyone can build their own IEM mix from the playback tracks and the live instrument inputs. We also send a stereo playback mix to FOH, alongside direct outs from the instruments.

The upside is that we avoid carrying a huge loom of analogue playback lines around. The downside is that the MacBook and most of the playback rig need to stay on stage because of the USB connection. That created a slightly stupid problem:

How do you actually start the show from backstage?

Walking onto an otherwise empty stage just to hit the spacebar on a MacBook is a surprisingly effective way of killing the mood. 😄

Our solution has been a Blackstar Live Logic MIDI foot controller. It sends a MIDI command into Logic that starts the project.

If the MIDI run gets too long, we extend the footswitch instead. We run a 10 m TRS cable from a Boss FS-5U back to the pedal input on the Blackstar Live Logic. That gives us one simple button backstage that starts the whole show.

Curious how other people running Logic live handle this; remote MIDI, wireless, someone at the computer, or something completely different?

Question Weird Volume Jumps on MIDI Tracks

Logic 11.2.2

I Am making a mix I'm happy with. Automation is working. I make a mix via bounce or I listen a fourth time in Logic and occasionally one or two random MIDI tracks are MUCH louder than I mixed them. Sometimes, if I click on the plugin on the inspector area, it reverts to the correct volume. Sometimes, if I click on the actual track, it reverts to the correct volume.

This happens on Logic's internal MIDI instruments or on my third party MIDI instruments. I cannot deduce a pattern for this behavior. It just happens sometimes. Sometimes goes away. But it's driving me crazy.

It can happen on tracks with volume automation and without. I start the track with a volume ramp, just in case the project doesn't know what volume to start with. No difference. And it can go away as weirdly as it started.

Thoughts?

Question Theme(s) situation

Does anybody know how to install Themes?
There is a site out there: https://theme.lpcolorizer.com/home/
But it seems that they disabled registration, although the site is up. Very weird
To those who actually installed a skin: Which one is your favourite?

Question Logic sending random midi signals to my synths

Hello,

Logic sends, when I have plugged my Keyboard in, or my digitone 2 or other hardware synths, random midi notes and ccs to my synths when im interacting with the interface.

im tabbing into logic ( command + tab) = logic sends a note

I create a new audio track (mixer track 2) = logic sends a note to Midi Channel 2 (and with new audio/midi track 3 and so on)

how can I fix that?

Help Issues with Final Cut .xml to logic

Crossposting from the FCPX subreddit in case anyone here has some more insight.

Hi all,

I'm working on the audio post production on a short film a friend shot, and having a lot of trouble getting the xml timeline to import to Logic. I've used Logic extensively for audio editing audiobooks, music, and podcasts, but much less familiar with Final Cut.

First attempt I just imported the .fcpxml file and all the audio files from wetransfer. No luck, all the files were missing in logic, and when I went to manually relink them I couldn't find the referenced file in the raw sound folders.

Okay, next I met up with the editor in person and saved another version of the xml directly to my external drive, ensuring that it saved as .fcpxmld, the "d" at the end apparently meaning it's a bundle file and should contain the referenced audio within. We also went ahead and saved the entire Final Cut library to the drive so that I would have the originals of everything. I was hoping that if it wouldn't import correctly in Logic, I could just open the project in final cut on my own computer and export the xml locally from there.

No dice on either front. Opening the xml in logic popped up with the million missing file errors as expected, and after an hour of manually locating and relinking the audio files and another hour of the system thinking about it...I was left with a mess. Over 100 tracks, muted track segments, none of the audio playing as it should, and what audio does play is clearly not what was intended, ie slating and rustling.

Opening the project in Final Cut has some edits misaligned, and some files missing, and is clearly not correct.

So- is there something we're missing? Some way that we should use to set up the file transfer that would solve these issues, or does the whole xml system just kinda suck and we should buy X2Pro and convert to AAF instead? It seems off that two Macs running apple software can't share files easily.

Thanks for any help or advice!

Help GarageBand Legacy sounds missing from Logic

How can I access the GarageBand legacy sounds in the new version? I have everything downloaded, but all I see under the legacy tab is Logic. When I look up specific sounds (Ominous Dancefloor, for example), they just aren’t there. They are accessible in GarageBandz

Question Trail Echo on vocals?

Is there an option echo effect that only adds the delay on the last part of the vocal phrase. So a chorus like ‘some times I feel’ the ‘feel’ would echo off?

I really like Tape Effect but it muddies the vocals on long phrasing.

Question Third plugins broken

I’m running into a frustrating issue with Logic Pro on my M4 MacBook Air, and I’m hoping someone here might have a fix.
Lately, the interface (GUI) of all my third-party plugins (including FabFilter Pro-Q 4 and others) will randomly go completely black or blank. The plugins still process audio perfectly, but the windows are just empty black rectangles

Question Help with audio output?

Hello, I'm brand new to Logic, just upgraded after years of recording into garage band. I promise I have watched videos and attempted to troubleshoot before coming here, I just need some help from someone who knows what theyre doing.

I can not for the life of me figure out how to hear recorded tracks through my headphones. Im playing DI through a Focusrite scarlett 2i2, and have my headphones plugged into the focusrite too. My input and output audio devices are set as the focusrite. I have made sure in the track settings that my outputs are set to stereo out. I can hear my tracks when I play them through external speakers, but once I set the output device to my focusrite the track goes dead. I can also hear myself play through my headphones, but I only hear what I'm playing and not the rest of the arrangement.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If I was unclear about anything please ask questions. Thank you from an eager ignorant noob.

Tips & Tricks Fix for missing ‘AScore’ font when editing Logic Pro’s score PDFs in third-party apps

I often use Affinity or Illustrator to lightly edit the scores I produce in the Score Editor. However, Logic’s internal symbol/notation font isn’t available system-wide, so glyphs can be missing when you try to edit the exported PDF in a third-party app. I’ve written up a solution to the problem (link: ‘A fix for the missing “AScore” font when editing PDF scores exported from Logic Pro’↗), which is saving me having to add glyphs back manually. Sharing here in the hope it might be useful to others.

Help Sample Rate Mismatch

Hello, I know this is a common error but mine feels a bit more complex so wanted to post for help:(

When I load midi, specifically drum kit midi, I get this error message “Error while trying to synchronize Audio and MIDI. Sample Rate 42,070 recognized, check conflict between Logic Pro and external device”.

Currently my set up is an M1 2020 MacBook Pro, most recent version of logic.

I have a scarlet solo interface, that I plug into a USBC hub. This hub also holds the plugs for my monitor and my external hard drive. I keep my Logic Pro library on my external hard drive as well.

It seems like for midi only specifically for drums this because a huge probably like, if I just wanna play a few beats on my keyboard, no extra plug ins or anything, the CPU and HD bar get maxed tf out and it cuts out then gives me the message.

I checked my settings like the Format section, confirmed my format is good, I tried plugging in the scarlet solo directly to the Mac same issue. Wondering if anyone could know what was happening? Or maybe a memory error since I have 8GB?

Thank you!!

Help Strange mono/stereo issue

I’m an experienced Logic Pro user, but I’m currently facing a very strange issue.

I’m having some kind of phase/sync problem regarding stereo/mono. I use an Apollo x16.

There might be a fault with the Apollo; I’m starting to suspect that. I’ve tried every tip I could find regarding stereo/mono settings in both the UAD software and Logic.

It concerns stereo/mono behavior. For instance, when I record in mono and then play it back, the sound only comes out of one speaker. When I switch to stereo, I hear standard mono.

If I create a standard stereo track, it plays back in mono; selecting stereo plugins makes no difference. However, if I send the track to a bus, it becomes stereo (both audio and midi instrument channels).

I wanted to see if anyone else has encountered a similar problem. I got some troubleshooting tips from ChatGPT, but they involved rather complex steps that would take time to check, so I thought I’d ask here first to see if anyone has managed to solve a similar issue.

It’s probably worth mentioning that I have three different MIDI controllers plus a Stream Deck controller within Logic. I don’t know if potential MIDI conflicts could somehow affect the audio settings.

Yes I have tried different cables. I strongly suspect som digital error.

The issue appears in both speakers and headphones directly plugged in to the Apolllo

Help NUX Mighty 20 MKII recording dry DI into Logic Pro instead of Cab Sim / Wet tone on Mac

Hey everyone, I'm running into a frustrating USB recording wall with my NUX Mighty 20 MKIl and could use some help.
• My Setup: NUX Mighty 20 MKII connected via USB to an Early 2015 Mac running macOS 12.7.6 (Monterey), using Logic Pro.
• The Problem: The guitar tone sounds amazing and fully processed (with amp modeling and cab sim) through the physical headphone jack on the amp.
However, when I record into Logic Pro, the DAW only captures a thin, raw, dry DI signal.
• What I've Already Tried:
• Verified in both the desktop Mighty Editor and the mobile MightyAmp app that USB routing is set to "Normal" or "Normal-Loopback" and the green Cab Sim toggle is turned ON.
• Tried creating an audio track with "Ascending" checked (Inputs 1-2 and 3-4) to see if the wet signal was on channels 3/4, but Logic throws a
"No input source selected!" error, meaning my Mac only sees a basic 2-channel stream.
• No matter what I change in the NUX software, the audio hitting Logic remains completely dry, as if the hardware is stuck ignoring software routing commands.

Has anyone experienced this specific Mac/NUX CoreAudio mismatch? Is there a hidden setting or workaround to force the NUX to stream its processed wet/cab-sim signal into Logic Pro over USB?

Question Error Message When Opening

Hello,

I recently downloaded the soundtoys effects rack and had been using it without issue for a few weeks on my M1 Mac (Sequoia). One day i was playing around with it on a couple of different projects and when i went to reopen the projects i got this message: "An Audio Unit plug-in reported a problem which might cause the system to become unstable Please quit and restart Logic Pro."

Quitting and restarting doesn't work. Some of this is work I am doing on a deadline so would like to get this figured out. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Question Methods of tightening breakbeats

I'm making some breakcore tracks at the moment, and currently I'm playing the beats live with my midi, then tightening them manually beat by beat.

I don't mind doing it this way, but I was wondering if anybody had any tips on a quicker method? The beats are choppy and complicated, so quantising them in segments of more than one doesn't work very well.

I appreciate your time.
