thinking of getting a mini
to clarify i’ve had a 2010 mini 2 door as my first car and she lasted me about 2.5 years (transmission issues mostly along with a few others)(DONT get me started on the oil). for the past two ish years ive been driving a different car. i can’t get over my mini 🥲 i’ve been looking at 2019 countryman’s but can’t decide if it’s too big. and deciding between if i want 2 doors or 4 (im younger so don’t necessarily need anything for a family and im not usually having friends) but if im going to have it for a while i might need bigger. is the size difference that noticeable? is it no longer “mini” i don’t see many in my area to really know the size difference. also are the newer years going to be more reliable then my last?

Just as a practical matter there were more F56 sold than countryman form 2015-2020, so there should be more variety of 3-drs.

yes the only problem i’m running into is not a lot of them being at the same dealership or dealerships that are at least 45-1 hour away from eachother🥲

If it helps, I went with a four-door Cooper as my fourth Mini and regret it. It’s not much more room in the back seat and it does feel a little less go-cart like. Trying to work out a trade now but it might take a while before I can make it work financially.

i think if i go 4 door i’d go with a countryman, at least that’s my thought process at the moment. so really just trying to decide if i want a bigger or smaller car. but that is helpful. also wishing you the best on getting a car you love !

Only way to know is test drive. I've had both 2-Dr. Cooper and Countryman, plus I sometimes drover my kid's Clubman. I love the Cooper, but I'm a safer driver in the Countryman. ;) But seriously, while the Countryman feels big, it's still a small and nimble vehicle.

i would love to test drive it’s just hard to find a place that has more then one mini lol. so it’d take some time. But thank you! i just think slightly bigger might be more practical for me in the long term but i love the “mini” part of the mini lol

The four door S isn't much different than the 2 door imo. It wasn't much or really at all bigger than my 2 door but the doors were much smaller. Any of the minis are going to be bigger than your 2010 but the countryman is going to feel much larger even though it's no bigger than other sub compact suv's. The countryman gets all wheel drive though which is neat and my wife had been eyeing the jcw countryman which on paper is faster than my 2016 S.
