Just became a member of the Mini club a couple weeks ago. Always been a fan of the 2-door, and the recent ā27 Paul Smith edition was enough to get hooked. Love the subtle color shifts and connection to Paulās studio palette. I lived in London for a few years about 10 years ago and always loved his stores. The car is black, green roof and mirrors, and desaturated navy blue lower trim.

I just got this 2014 mini around 2 weeks ago for my bdayy and itās due for a wash. Whatās the best recommendation for the fabric convertible top? I also saw some protection sprays from the sun and stuff do they actually work?
Went with my wife to help her test drive a Clubman. Saw this Hardtop in the āoverflowā lot, drove it and fell in love with it after the first test drive. Iāve always liked the looks of an MC, but never seriously considered getting one.
Now I get it why thereās such a dedicated following! I forgot how fun it it to ādriveā vs just getting somewhere.

Hi all,
Iām trying to decide between two MINI Clubmans:
2019 Cooper 1.5 petrol ā green, 33k miles, 2 owners, automatic
2022 Cooper S 2.0 petrol ā red, 47k miles, 1 owner, automatic
Iāll mainly be using the car for city driving in the UK (Birmingham) and probably around 5k miles a year.
For anyone who has owned or driven both, how big is the real-world difference in fuel consumption, especially around town? Is the Cooper S noticeably more expensive on petrol?
Iād also be interested in the difference in insurance, servicing, maintenance and general running costs.
The 1.5 seems like the sensible choice because of the lower mileage and better economy, but I also want something thatās fun to drive. Is the Cooper S worth the extra running costs, or is the 1.5 still enjoyable enough that I wouldnāt really miss the extra performance?
The Cooper S is also 3 years newer and has only had one owner, although it has 14k more miles.
Which one would you choose for mostly city driving?

Have recently taken my mini in to be looked at, at an independent specialist mini/bmw garage. I took it in initially due to a drivetrain malfunction warning/sometimes hard to start (this has only happened 3 times and last was few weeks ago).
Turbo has been noisy - dentist-drill type whooshing sound on acceleration + Have noticed light grey smoke a couple of times on ignition.
Otherwise drives fine and has had a recent MOT with nothing to fix.
The only fault they could find was mixture adaption rich. They werenāt sure whether my usual garage had wiped the error codes when they did diagnostics.
They have also noted the turbo is noisy and there is some smoke. The specialist thinks the turbo is giving out and has advised that itāll need replacing sooner rather than later, says car seems otherwise in good condition but to consider selling due to cost of the repair.
The cost of replacing the turbo with them is estimated at just over £3000.
Does anyone have any experience with this as an issue? Any advice on whether it would be something worth doing at this mileage or whether I should just cut my losses and sell it would be great.
Thanks!

Hi, I have owned my F56 Cooper S for around 6 months and for most of that time the experience has been somewhat spoilt by some very annoying rattles, the most annoying of these being from the passenger door. I have tried lubricating the rubber as often suggested and that hasnāt resolved this issue. It seems to be coming from somewhere in the door card, but the dealer have been very unhelpful and said they canāt really fix it without it being very costly, as it is an Approved Used/CPO car the warranty does not cover rattles. Anyone have similar experience and how did you resolve it? I am desperate to get this resolved so I can enjoy my Mini again!
I hit a bad pothole on the highway that resulted in a total blowout. It was so deep that it damaged the knuckle and wheel hub bearing.
Had it towed to my local Mini because itās a lease and I just wanted piece of mind.
Long story short I got insurance involved and they sent out and adjuster and they showed me the numbers and in some cases Mini is marking up parts 200+% and quoting 9 hours of service for a 3 hour job.
So insurance is going to pay for about 1/2 of what Mini is charging and the service dept is trying to say I need to pay the rest. I sent them the comparison w/ the part numbers and everything and am waiting to hear back but is this just typical of service departments to overcharge?

2008 mini cooper hardtop model bought a month ago at 38,000 miles. Has new brake pads and tires. Super confused and concerned, have had no major issues with it other than a few quirks that donāt bother me. Have also popped the hood a few times and everything seemed to be fine other than needing to grab some antifreeze soon. I am a young adult female with limited vehicle knowledge.

Recently, I put down nearly $2K to fix a broken sunroof on my ā18 JCW and it got me wondering if these cars will still be on the road decades from now. My other car is a MGB which hits 60 years old in a couple of months. I believe part of the reason a car like this can carry on is due to how simple they are. I tune the carbs myself, set the timing myself⦠Short of an engine overhaul, everything can be done with some spanners and YouTube.
While my MINI is more safe, more powerful, more efficient, I canāt help but think that just maintaining them ends up outpacing their value. Itās like theyāre designed to be disposable, and itās getting worse with each subsequent generation.
