Thanks for joining us as we go down the Maasverse rabbit hole!

Greetings everyone! As this sub celebrates one day of existence šŸŽ‰ I just wanted to thank all of you for joining us as we continue to go down the Maasverse rabbit hole in anticipation of CC3 and whatever our lord and saviour SJM might throw at us next.

You are the the elite! The SJM triple threat club! And after that ending to HOSAB it's harder than ever to talk about one series without bringing in another. Thus, the Maasverse was born. This is a community for all published works by SJM (except that Catwoman book, has anyone actually read that??). Feel free to discuss and theorize, no holds barred. We'll figure out our use of the spoiler flair as needed.

Feel free to get the word out to others that you think would like a place to discuss all three series. We'll do an official invite in the ACOTAR, ToG, and CC once some housekeeping is out of the way.

Enjoy šŸ’•

Finished ACOTAR 🄲

I finished the series and can’t wait for October for the next book!!!!!
I recently picked up the first book in Throne of Glass. I have read one chapter so far and I’m going to keep giving it a shot.

I just feel so sad because I miss ACOTAR so so much. 🄲

Anyone have recommendations or opinions on Throne of Glass?

The whimsical, naturey, inner struggles, physical and personal growth, Feyre being an artist (I’m also an artist) and so on and so on.

There’s so many things about this series I connected to so sooooo much. Especially with just becoming a mom myself. šŸ«¶šŸ¼

Would love anyone’s recommendations on other similar series or is this just one of a kind?

Thank you😭

Theory Helion’s importance moving forward and the possibility of other trove/Made objects

Spoilers for all 3 series.

During CC3, Vesperus says ā€œI can smell how much of what we created here went unused.ā€

What else did they create?

She then talks about the hidden pockets of power aka wells of firstlight throughout Prythian, seemingly answering the question.

But what if she is referring to other magical/Made objects?

When she says that line, it is directly after talking about how Az doesn’t know how to truly use truth teller. Which got me thinking that she was talking about other Made objects and not the wells of firstlight…

I saw someone on TikTok share a theory that the Symphonia can capture the magic of the harp/horn.

In ACOSF, Cassian says the Symphonia originated in Helions’s court and that it was made for Nesta.

What if the Symphonia is really a Made object?

If it is, it’s interesting it is associated with Helion’s court in some way.

Helion, who has ties to the dusk court because of his Pegasus (which originated from the prison island/dusk court).

Helion, who can sense spells like threads (lots of nods to weaving/threads in acosm/acofm blurbs). Who could not stand to be in the presence of the mask and said ā€œperhaps an ancestor of mine used it once and the warning of its cost is imprinted upon my bloodā€

Also as a bonus because I don’t know what it means but it feels important: he wears no weapons when he visits the hewn city in ACOSF. the only metal on him is a gold snake cuff on his bicep. Snakes are on all three covers of CC.

Throne of Glass Thank god someone saw the potential cuz I wouldn’t have

Before you cancel me, let me just say this might trigger people so please don't read further cuz i don't like to read rude comments. This is just me putting forth my opinion and checking if someone else agrees.

I'm a first time reader, almost done with Throne of Glass as the first book and I read this line in Dorian's POV and I'm like... dude there was literally no build up. I've read the rest of Maas-verse and I gotta say that even though I'm not a fan of some of the ships, they at least had a build up and genuine chemistry. Maybe it's cuz Tog was Sarah's first ever book series and she was basically a teenager when she wrote it, but tbe writing is just pissing me off.

It's all tell, and no show. At all!

Oh Celeana is the most powerful assasin ever (we can't go two lines without being reminded of that)

Oh Dorian and Choal are into her cuz she used to be of "former beauty"

Oh now Dorian is suddenly in LOVE with her after only like... 14 days?! I'm sorry but making him be all head over heels for her all of a sudden was just so unexpected. I expected a little bit-- at least a little bit, of more build up or literally some time to let thier relationship grow. They kissed twice. Danced once. And boom. "SHE'S THE LOVE OF HIS LIFE"

It's droning.

But those things can be overlooked cuz I've been told the story gets better and that there's a character called Manon that I-- and I quote this from multiple people-- "HAVE to meet".

So yeah I'll be reading more.

This is not really meant as a hate post cuz I knew a few spoilers even before I picked up the book because it's such a popular series and I'm into it.

All I'm saying that is that the reason I picked up this series was cuz of the hype and popularity-- which I'm not saying is wrong; I haven't read the series fully yet to conclude that-- but if it wasn't so talked about and popular I don't think many of the readers would have been a fan of the writing and the author voice in general. But maybe that's cuz TOG isn't supposed to be a romantic story. Still. I made another post earlier about the writing being... bad for the lack of another word, and many people agreed.

All I'm asking from all you readers is does it get better? I am going to finish the series cuz I'm intrigued by the story line and I wanna meet this Manon girl (also Dorian is cute) and yeah I like epic fantasy and world building. I'm just hoping it will be worth it

Ps- let me say it again, I'm not hating, just putting out an opinion open for HEALTHY discussion, so if this triggers you, i apologise. It wasn't my intention to offend. Seriously there are a lot of people on reddit who get defensive and angry for the smallest of things

Discussion Please give me your takes on Rhysand

Rhysand from ACOTAR is one of my favorite characters written because I am fascinated by him. Not because of usuall bat boy reasons but because I’m weirdly rooting for Maas to make him a villian or something.

So please tell your opinions, your hot takes, your seerer visions! Anyone else think we are in for a big mix up around his character, foreshadowing is maas’s speciality is it under our noses the whole time???

Crescent City Crescent City question that involves spoilers Spoiler

There are so many spoilers in this question, please do not read on if you haven’t finished Crescent City.

Seriously don’t…so many spoilers.

I am about halfway through the last Crescent City book. For context- They are in Avallen, looking for information, about to go into the Cave of Princes.

I’m afraid to Google this because I don’t want to spoil it. But I also think it has been explained and I just can’t remember it.

How is Bryce a descendant of Pelias AND Theia? Somehow, Ruhn is descended from Pelias…through their dad obviously because the Autumn King is Fae. But somehow Bryce is from both Pelias (through her dad) AND Theia? Her mom is human, so she’s not from that line. Theia and Pelias did not have children. But from the whole Prison Cave story, Theia had 2 daughters with Fionn. One, Hannah, was killed while the other escaped to a different world entirely and had a son… but also, Theia is the one with the Starborn power…so how does Ruhn have it too unless he’s also descended from Theia? It’s not adding up in my head.

Is this a plot hole, something that has already been explained and I should know, something I misunderstood along the way, or is this something that will all come together by the end of the book?

If it’s all explained in the second half of Book 3, please don’t spoil it. But if I’ve majorly misunderstood and should already know, feel free to explain it like I’m a child lol

Thank you!

Guuuuyyyyss 2 months after ACOTAR 6 is released we get the graphic audio 🄳 I was listening to my current audible read ACOFAS GA and was making sure I had the download ready for ACOSF ready for when I finished and lookie what I stumbled upon. Idk if anyone else has said or seen this so I thought I'd share 🩷 I only just got into the GA's because of my reread (had them for a long time just never got around to it) so after a physical read of ACOSH I'll probably reread it this way before ACOFM comes out lol also there is nothing on audible for a Graphic Audio for ACOFM yet but I'll keep an eye out.

I work at Kohl’s and these are three things we are currently selling that reminded me of ACOTAR. First shirt, Ramiel, obviously. Second, star pajamas, and third is the closest scent to Rhysand, Blue Citron.

What do you all think? Did I do good? šŸ˜‰

Acotar Made ambience videos for my ACOTAR re-read and wanted to share with this community šŸŒ™

Re-reading ACOTAR before the new books and making ambience videos along the way. Latest one is the Dusk Court - I keep thinking about the Prison island and what it might have looked like in its former glory as the Dusk Court, and with A Court of Splintered Harmony dropping soon I have a feeling we're about to find out a lot more

I've also made one for Night Court at Starfall, Autumn Court and Spring Court. Would love suggestions for what court to make next šŸŒ™

Confirmation of crossover for TOG & ACOTAR?

Post image
15 Upvotes

This is currently on Graphic Audio’s website under Throne of Glass Part 1 of 2. This release keeps getting pushed back, could it be because production is waiting for the crossover with the 2 new books? Since they are waiting for 2027, possibly once A Court of Forgotten Melody is released. I know they use a lot of the same actors across her other series for these particular Dramatized Audios. Could be causing issues for production.

Discussion Super confused about the languages ? Spoiler

So in ACOTAR the humans and the fae both speak the same language . In CC all the different species all spoke a universal language . However, Bryce and the IIC could not understand each other when she went to the homeworld of the fae. When Aelin was falling through worlds did she say anything to Rhys? I don’t remember it honestly . I’m also super confused on if the CC crew all swallowed a magical language bean in the end of CC3 to talk to Cass/Rhys/Azriel ?

Acotar Reread?

Guys we’re one month and some change (2 months out) from the next book. Should I reread just the acotar books or the whole universe? If it’s the whole universe, should it be chronologically or by publication? I read fast af and can do it. I’ve reread it at least 10 times. What’s the group doing???

Where do I find the TOG audiobooks?

I'm danish and hate the danish narration of the audiobooks as they absolutely butcher all names. Plus I prefer listening in english anyways. BUT I can't seem to find them beyond Heir of Fire (3rd book).

I've looked on audiobooks.com, mofibo(storitel) and Libby.

Please help me out

Discussion Found a song that fits so many characters within the Maasverse so well!!!

I was listening through my daylist on spotify last week and found this song. i didn't think much about how it relates until this afternoon when listening to it after finishing the ACOSF graphic audio book. I nearly cried when i realised. It's such a beautiful song. It's called 10,000 Foes by John Michael Howell. Genuinely worth a listen!!!

Theory Did SJM accidentally change the order of Feyre’s painted drawers?

I keep seeing people say the Archeron dresser has always been canonically Elain → Nesta → Feyre, but when I went back and checked the actual wording, that’s not quite what ACOTAR says.

In ACOTAR, Chapter 2, Feyre describes the paintings as:

Elain → flowers
Nesta → flames
Feyre → stars

But she never says those are the top, middle and bottom drawers. She’s simply listing what she painted on each sister’s drawer.

ACOMAF Chapter 49 does the exact same thing. Feyre explains that the old black dresser had one drawer for each sister and again describes them as Elain → flowers, Nesta → flames, Feyre → night sky, but still gives no physical order.

Then we get to ACOSF Chapter 55, and this is where it gets interesting.

Cassian is actually touching the dresser and SJM explicitly establishes the physical order:

Top: Feyre’s stars
Middle: Elain’s flowers
Bottom: Nesta’s flames

Cassian’s fingers move to the second drawer and identify Elain’s flowers, then ā€œdrifted lowerā€ to Nesta’s flames.

So the actual physical order established in canon is Feyre → Elain → Nesta.

Which makes me wonder: was the Elain → Nesta → Feyre order in ACOTAR simply the order Feyre happened to mention them in, or did SJM originally imagine the dresser that way and later change it?

Because there’s another interesting wrinkle: in ACOFAS, Elain’s birthday cake is decorated flowers → flames → stars, which is the same order Feyre uses when describing the sisters in the earlier books. But that’s obviously a cake, not the dresser.

I don’t think we can honestly call this a confirmed plot hole because ACOTAR never explicitly says Elain was on the top drawer and Feyre was on the bottom.

But I also don’t think we should pretend there isn’t an odd continuity issue here. SJM went from repeatedly describing the designs as Elain → Nesta → Feyre to later physically establishing the dresser as Feyre → Elain → Nesta.

And considering how much symbolic meaning SJM eventually attached to these paintings, I’m curious what everyone thinks.

Was the earlier order just narrative/listing order, an accidental continuity change, or was SJM intentionally clarifying something with the ACOSF arrangement?

Yesterday I posted in the Crescent City sub about some doodles I felt inspired to do while reading the series (almost done with HOSAB!).

Well… I felt inspired to do ACOTAR today! I will go ahead and include the CC one here too :) All done by me on my iPad.

Maybe soon I’ll have time to do TOG! What should I add? The series is so big I’ll have trouble deciding!

ACOTAR - hot take - Rhys

I am not gonna lie. I used to loooove Rhysand like obsessed but then I got the ick. Come for me but I feel like he is a love bomber and possessive and controlling with others around her in a way it starts to border misogynistic.

Hello, so I am currently trying to get through all the universes. I am on Silver Flames in ACOTAR, just finished Crown of Midnight in TOG, and havent started cresent city yet. How or where can I find the information needed to keep it all straight? Cause I know 2 more books are coming out in the ACOTAR world. And I just cant keep it all straight in my head.

Throne of Glass Are there connections or am I hopelessly confused? Spoiler

I am in the last chapters of Empire of Storms where Aelin and Manon go through the mirror. I am assuming they are seeing what happened in the past with Elena and the new lock now has to be forged with Mala's bloodline's life force (being Aelin?). The place that Erawan has to be locked back into is described by Elena's mother as "beings of a higher, different existence. For whom time was fluid and bodies were things to be shifted and molded. Who could exist in multiple places..." Is there a connection to this place and the place Amren comes from? There's more to the description but it reminds me of the creature Amren changes into when she fights in ACOWAR. Also- the name Elena and Elain beig a seer. A connection? And that Azriel has a "truth teller" sword and I am reading in EoS about Gavin touching the Sword of Truth. Is he referring to Damaris being the Sword of Truth and maybe connected to Azriel's sword? Tht maybe Elain and Azriel have an overlapping story with Aelin. Am I just spinning my wheels here? I don't care if your answers contain spoilers for the rest of EoS as I am alomost done with this book (just no spoilers for the last 2 books of the series please).

Theory Elain having a vision of Aelin in the Iron Coffin

Is this just a theory or did Elain actually mention something like this?

Does anyone have Elains visions tabbed?
