I worked at a McDonald’s on campus in my early college days. Many times someone would walk up with a handful of coins and ask how much for a burger and small fries or whatever. If they couldn’t afford both, I’d ring them up for the burger and then accidentally forget that they DIDN’T order the fries and throw them in the bag. I’d bet that there were many of us who did that. Come and get me corporate! :)

Yes, at the time I think they said it was the only one actually on a college campus. It’s gone now (maybe because of too many free fries), but my kids all have some form of chain restaurant in their student unions as part of a food court setup. It must make the universities some good money, you know, because tuition isn’t high enough to cover things.
