Can people please stop asking useless questions to make themselves looks smart especially during large lecture halls

I just wanted to rant cause it’s genuinely wasting everybody’s time like just let the professor talk.

Best café near McGill Ghetto for 2–3h laptop studying?

Upvotes

Looking for the best student-friendly cafés around McGill Ghetto/Milton-Parc for 2–3h of studying, ideally open past 5 PM.

What matters most: reasonable prices, Wi-Fi, outlets, comfortable seating, noise/music, crowding, laptop policy, and whether you can realistically stay 2–3h after buying something.

Which are your #1 picks, and which should students avoid and why? Especially places where laptops aren’t allowed or are discouraged, so we don’t waste a trip, buy coffee/food, then discover we can’t study there. That happened to me recently 😭

Honest McGill-student experiences welcome, especially hidden gems and places that change after 5 PM.

hii, I was walking on campus today and found this jacket on the floor. it was right by the mosaic outside near the hotdog man. I dropped it off in the lost and found bucket at schulich. (I would’ve gone to the lost and found area in burnside but the librarian told me they wouldn’t accept clothing)

here’s a picture if this is urs!! hope u get it back soon :)

Are classes allowed to have out-of-pocket costs that weren’t communicated before the first class?

I am wondering this for COMP370/570 as this (~$120) would be a financial strain for me. :(

Also, does anyone know why undergrads are straight up not allowed to take 570? (Never got a response from Nicholas the Student Affairs Coordinator)

Anyone know whether the SSMU-run poster sale is happening again this fall? The most recent info I can find is from the event last winter .

is this course real...? On Minerva it's cap15 and 11 remaining, and on MyCourses there is nothing. The prof is not responding to my emails. I just registered for it, i'm super interested in the subject but like what is happening, is it going to be cancelled? Has anyone taken it before?

I'm considering taking GEOG 221 as an elective and was wondering if anyone is currently in the class or has taken it before. How is the workload and difficulty, is it graded with tests or papers (what is the grading breakdown) ?

Hi everyone! I’m a first-year undergrad taking FRSL 101, and we’re required to purchase a coursepack called " Vivre Montréal en français Partie 1 " .

I was wondering if anyone has an old copy they’d be willing to sell.

Thank you

PSYC 444 with Elizaveta Solomonova?

Has anyone taken PSYC 444 with Elizaveta Solomonova? I’ve seen really good reviews, but I’m a bit worried since she doesn't record lectures regularly.

Was it still easy to keep up if you missed a class? Are the slides detailed enough, and overall is the course manageable?

GEOG408 vs 409

Which one would people recommend? I’m currently in 409 but I don’t love the weekly reading responses+multiple projects, and I was thinking of getting a seatalert for 408 instead to potentially join it as it seems a bit easier and more interesting. Does anyone have experience with either one? Is the research proposal project in 409 as hard/as much work as it sounds?

I realize these are very different courses, but I am trying to choose 2 out of the 3. Which ones are easiest in terms of workload and/or grading (assuming I have no background in economics)?
