#BikeRepair Classic 350 Reborn - Broken cylinder sleeve and bent rod
I drove my 2024 Classic 350 Reborn into water (I have realised that it was a stupid thing to do) and damaged the engine.
The official service center quoted ₹46K and asked for 20–25 days of waiting time (after keeping the bike for 10 days). I decided not to go ahead with them, paid ₹2,306 for the diagnostic/reassembly charges, and brought the bike to a local engine mechanic.
He gave an initial estimate under ₹20K and will be opening the engine today.
The mechanic mentioned the possibility of using a lathe.
I don't have technical knowledge about motorcycles and want to know what to expect:
Is a damaged cylinder sleeve like this something that can/should be repaired on a lathe, or does it require a full replacement?
How easily available are these parts in the market?
What is a realistic cost for the parts and the overall repair job?
Any advice on what I should ask the mechanic before they start would be really helpful.
