#BikeRepair Classic 350 Reborn - Broken cylinder sleeve and bent rod

I drove my 2024 Classic 350 Reborn into water (I have realised that it was a stupid thing to do) and damaged the engine.

The official service center quoted ₹46K and asked for 20–25 days of waiting time (after keeping the bike for 10 days). I decided not to go ahead with them, paid ₹2,306 for the diagnostic/reassembly charges, and brought the bike to a local engine mechanic.

He gave an initial estimate under ₹20K and will be opening the engine today.
The mechanic mentioned the possibility of using a lathe.

I don't have technical knowledge about motorcycles and want to know what to expect:

Is a damaged cylinder sleeve like this something that can/should be repaired on a lathe, or does it require a full replacement?

How easily available are these parts in the market?

What is a realistic cost for the parts and the overall repair job?

Any advice on what I should ask the mechanic before they start would be really helpful.

#BikeRepair Brief “dug - dug” sound when trying to select 1st gear while coasting in neutral.

I have a Honda Unicorn BS6 (2021, Fi) with about 4,500 km on it.

I was coasting in neutral

(I know I shouldn't do it, but I had less petrol in tank and it was a road with good visibility and very low traffic.)

I pulled the clutch in and tried to shift into 1st.

I heard two brief “dug - dug” sounds (roughly a couple of times per second. ) I left the gear shifter > left clutch > pulled the clutch again > pressed the gear shifter was able to shift down.

I wasn't using the throttle and I didn't put extra force on the shifter afterward.

Bike company with good service center

Hi guys,

I am gonna buy a new bike in the march 2027 and I have a very very bad luck in terms of service center. Pls suggest me which company bike should I buy which has a good after sales servicing experience. I can't ignore this thing cuz whatever I have bought in my entire life I had to go to service center at least 5 times. So please suggest me what company and which bike should I look for while buying bike in Thane.

My budget is around 2.5 lakhs

And my requirements are mileage, upright sitting position, pillion comfort, engine reliability, good torque and lastly high speed performance (not top speed, basically bike stability at 90+ speed

Honda hybrid vs Diesel used

Hey all, I am looking to buy Honda City diesel or Honda hybrid used cars. Definitely from trusted sellers with background service verification and mechanic verification.

So the technical aspects are taken care.

But the practical aspects are confusing me where few hybrid users are saying there is a huge drop in mileage recently from 24 kmpl to 14-17 kmpl.

Whereas the diesel is discontinued technically.

Mileage is a factor since I will do 2k /month

I found 2 cars

Diesel, 72k , well-maintained, complete service record. 2 times dpf cleaned due to warning issues. 10L final price. 2022 mid, zx variant. Serviced and ready.

Honda hybrid, 39k, little modified with big tyres etc, warranty extended till 2028 and battery warranty till 2031. Bought in 2023 mid. At 15L final price.

Have to service immediately by September end. Agreed to take to Honda service center to do a pre purchase check too.

Am confused between these 2, help me navigate through this mess.

I personally liked the spaciousness of honda, and the balance of handling is good too. I want a sedan with good mileage.

#CarMaintenance ALTO K10 VXI headlamp vision

Guys I am using a 2026 Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 VXI, and I am not satisfied with the amount of light produced by the stock halogen headlamps of 55 watt. Since the Alto K10 does not have a factory fog-lamp provision in my variant, and its headlamp uses a reflector-type housing rather than a projector setup, I am considering replacing the stock halogen bulbs with higher-wattage 90/100W halogen bulbs instead of LED bulbs, because I feel that halogen light would be more suitable for foggy conditions. However, I am concerned about whether using 90/100W bulbs could generate excessive heat and damage or melt the reflector housing, reflective coating, bulb socket, wiring, or other components of the headlamp assembly, as I have seen people discussing this issue on YouTube. I would therefore like to know whether installing 90/100W halogen bulbs in the Alto K10's existing reflector-type headlamp is technically safe, and if it is possible to install them safely, what precautions should be taken regarding the installation of the bulb. I would also like to know whether such a 90/100W halogen setup is legally permitted in India under the applicable Central Motor Vehicle Rules, or not. If 90/100W bulbs are not advisable or legal, please suggest the safest way to improve the Alto K10's headlight performance while retaining halogen bulbs rather than converting to LED.
