News / Meta Important Update for OGR2, Altair, and 21XX purchased through KeyGem

As of last week, 21XX were fully ready to ship to all participating vendors. KeyGem still has not paid the invoice, and were unable to commit to the payment plan we offered them. As such, we have made the decision to ship all unpaid 21XX keyboards & addons originally meant for KeyGem to our location in Rhode Island. Once we receive the shipment and finish QC, we will reach back out to the community with options for those who purchased from KeyGem. Like previous projects, we expect to offer them at GB price, with a discount to help offset the shipping cost of ordering from a USA based vendor.

Additionally, in order to provide some certainty to KeyGem customers, rather than giving KeyGem until the last possible moment to pay, we have decided to also have the Altair and OGR2 keyboards originally meant to go to KeyGem shipped to CannonKeys. Our initial plan was to try and give KeyGem as much time as possible in hopes that they would pay for these boards, as they told us they would when they originally delayed their payment. Prior to recent projects shipping, KeyGem was able to pay invoices when the boards were ready. However, given their recent track record, we have lost any faith this will happen. We no longer expect their payment, so we are closing out the invoices we have open on them, and moving forward.

To summarize, the following projects are now having boards meant for KeyGem shipped to CannonKeys. The plan is for KeyGem customers to be able to purchase at GB price, with a discount to help offset shipping that will vary from project to project.

  • Vida
  • Link
  • AK75
  • 21XX
  • OGR2
  • Altair

We are posting this to reddit as we do not have the emails of those who joined OGR2/Altair/21XX with KeyGem. This is our best option to try and let those who joined know about the situation.

I think I might have found my endgame keyboard - Space Cadet.

Good that it's huge!I need huge keyboards to compensate for something that is fundamentally small in life.

I made a custom keyboard badge for Nuclear Data Inc ND 6600 (the color that Nuke Data keycaps are based off)

No AI used to design the logo I drew it in GIMP. I'm no computer design expert and the font isn't an EXACT match but it's close enough.

Builds Uniqmag UQ68 Mag-lev spring-less switches build

Had to delete post to change one photo, sorry -

Uniqmag UQ68 with stock switches, since they are mag-lev and springless, and added a custom keycap set, with one Nuphy Ghost Bar in gray, though I may change the color to yellow.

Sounds great, and is overall great, but the software is missing some key remaps I want, plus no way to make the backlight timeout. However I have emailed customer service before and while it took a few tries, they did immediately come through for me.

First keyboard I have ever bought after seeing a hipyotech video lol

Promotional Clevy keyboard for assistive needs

Post image
47 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm part of the team at Clevy, and I wanted to share a keyboard we've developed for people who may find a conventional keyboard difficult to use.

Clevy is a mechanical keyboard designed specifically with accessibility in mind, including for children and people with motor or visual impairments.

One of the things that makes Clevy different is that it isn't limited to the traditional QWERTY layout. It can be configured with different layouts depending on the user's needs, including:

  • ABCDE
  • QWERTY
  • AZERTY
  • QWERTZ
  • and other layouts

There are also different language configurations, including Italian, French, Spanish, German, Dutch, International, Serbian, and others.

The keyboard is available with uppercase or lowercase lettering, depending on the user's preference.

For people with motor impairments, Clevy can also be used together with a keyguard, which helps limit accidental key presses and can make individual keys easier to target.

The example above is the lowercase ABCDE layout.

We originally developed Clevy because a standard keyboard doesn't necessarily work well for everyone. For some users, simply changing the arrangement, appearance, or physical accessibility of the keys can make a significant difference.

We're sharing this here primarily to raise awareness that accessible mechanical keyboards exist and to hear from the mechanical keyboard community.

If you've worked with accessible technology, occupational therapy, special education, assistive technology, or have experience designing keyboards for people with different accessibility needs, we'd be particularly interested in hearing your thoughts.

If you'd like to discuss accessible mechanical keyboards, different layouts, key guards, or assistive technology, we've also created r/Clevy_AssistiveTech as a place for those conversations.

Discussion Keychron approved my warranty replacement “at no charge”, then changed the terms after asking for my address

I wanted to share my recent warranty experience with Keychron regarding a brand-new Q1 Max.

The keyboard had two defective keycaps almost immediately:

  • The Spacebar tilts when pressed from one side, and if I rotate the Spacebar 180°, the problem moves with the keycap.
  • The right Alt key has a visible molding/finish defect.

I contacted Keychron Support and provided detailed photos, videos, and all the troubleshooting they requested.

After reviewing the case, Keychron explicitly wrote:

They then requested my shipping address and said:

Only after I provided my address did they introduce the issue of DHL shipping to Serbia costing at least $50. They then asked me to pay half of the shipping cost.

I declined because the replacement had already been approved “at no charge”, with no shipping charge mentioned at the time.

I asked for the case to be escalated to a supervisor / Global Support Lead and also contacted Keychron Support on X. They found my ticket and said they would check with the agent.

There was still no resolution.

The latest email I received asked me to “provide an other shipping address”, despite the fact that I already provided my complete and valid shipping address in Serbia and do not have another address in another country.

At this point, I am not asking for anything beyond the warranty replacement Keychron already reviewed and approved.

Full timeline, screenshots, photos, and the original discussion are here:

Ticket #43019

Update: Keychron Support posted an official response here, but the comment is no longer visible to me. I have a screenshot of the response and have kept it for the record.

Discussion I get it now

I’ve had a GMMK Pro since it first released. For a little while I tried tweaking things - I bought new stabs because stock was rough. Got a new plate, did a group buy for keycaps. And I’ve lived with it since.

Now 5 years later I decide to look into whether wireless options exist… and what the fuck. Neo, Evo, Athena, Wave, Bridge, Yunzii AL. How the hell do you decide?

I grew tired of the endless rabbit holes of research and got the Wave 75 from Amazon. Low risk, I could always return it.

My god. This board absolutely blew my dick off. Soft pings of ecstasy. I looked at my GMMK in shame and horror. I was sold a lie and accepted it for all these years.

Now I’m questioning everything and wondering if I want to even keep the Wave. Should I forsake the chonky boards and go low profile? Or maybe something more premium? Do I need a screen to watch The Odyssey? I’ve opened Pandora’s box and realized what humanity is capable of.

Keeb of the workweek. This time without the wrist rest to avoid visual confusion.

Neo70 Avocado (graciously sold on MM)

Wired PCB

FR4 Plate

Gateron Mini-I Tactiles

Gateron PC Screw In Stabs (with tape modded stems for stability)

Generic SA-Style Keycaps

The combo of the SA caps and Mini-Is sound really great. I would love to use my Type Rs but my office would not appreciate that lol.

I posted about my build almost 4 months ago and how my set from thekapco was missing a key cap (https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/s/GcJLGn0SSm). Well after multiple threats of a chargeback, and many many promises, I finally received the missing close bracket key. My board is finally complete. Now it’s time to tear it all apart and build something else! 😂
